Epilogue
"Wait, wait, hold on, I need to stop. I need a minute to breathe."
Pierce Holmes came to a halt and leaned against the building to catch his breath on the sidewalk. He closed his eyes as he leaned his head against the cold stone.
"Oh Merlin, this walk is killing me." He groaned.
"Suck it up, we still have a little ways to go." His boyfriend Julius encouraged him forward. "It's good for you, you were laid up in bed for so long, exercise is good for you."
"I don't know, being lazy sounds good for me too." Pierce whined. He suddenly felt the warmth of Julius's hand encase his as their fingers intertwined. Suddenly, he was pulled along to keep walking beside Julius bringing a smile to both of the boys' faces.
A few weeks after the mass chaos that took place at the Triwizard Tournament, Pierce was trying to get some sort of normalcy back to his life. After being attacked and nearly killed by his father's enemy, the boy had spent quite sometime in the care of St. Mungo's as Moriarty's torture had not only affected him physically but mentally as well. He didn't sleep well for quite sometime, leaving the Healers nervous about his release.
He remained in their care, sitting around in a bed while his body was on the mend. There he learned about all the events that unfolded in such a short amount of time. Not only did Moriarty get away, but during the Tournament, he was not the only competitor to face chaos.
Harry Potter claimed the return of you-know-who as well returning with the dead body of Cedric Diggory. In launched everyone into a state of worry, but Pierce was advised not to concern himself with the matters.
He was told to focus on himself and heal.
Every day, he found himself with visitors. Mostly Julius and Nancy coming to keep him company, along with John who made him meals as the boy refused to eat what St. Mungo's offered him. But much to the boy's surprise, there was someone there every day without fail that checked in on him every chance he could.
Sherlock didn't miss a beat when it came to being there for his son. Even on the days where he arrived to find Pierce asleep, he would remain in the boy's company, quietly reading to himself at his son's bedside. From the moment he had decided to tend to his son rather than pursuing his enemy, many things changed in both of the Holmes lives.
It was that summer that Sherlock had Pierce move in with him on Baker Street. The boy was given his own room upon arrival filled with Mrs. Hudson decorations, welcoming him home. John was beyond thrilled to have Pierce permanently residing with them, and Pierce and Sherlock seemed to be much happier as the relationship between father and son continued to develop.
Pierce thought about his mother at several points, but she never went out of her way to talk to him. Knowing it was Pierce who revealed her secret of being an unregistered animagus, it seemed the relationship between mother and son was completely severed. Not that Pierce was complaining.
For the first time, in a long time, the boy was content with where his life was going. He was learning what it was like to have the family that he had always craved and dreamed about as a boy. With Julius by his side, he was able to heal sooner as well with the boy's constant encouragement and assistance. Whenever Nancy came to visit, she helped as much as possible too, but over the summer, she became a little preoccupied with constant visits she shared with a certain witch, rumored to be the brightest witch of their age.
Pierce remembered the time where he believed that Hermione was the girl he wanted in his life, the person that would make him happy. But he was more than thankful that he realized it was the boy that had been at his side all along that he wanted and needed in his life.
With Julius, Sherlock and John, the other man he considered to be a father figure in his life, Pierce Holmes was more than certain that everything was going to okay in his life.
He was no longer ashamed of his name.
He was the son of Sherlock Holmes.
He no longer had to deal with the gossiping witch of a mother.
He was free to be himself and be happy.
Walking with Julius, the two arrived in front of the flat when they heard gunshots go off. Julius let out a cry and jumped several times, while Pierce stood with a calm expression.
"What the hell was that? Was that a gun!?" Julius asked turning to Pierce.
"Yeah," Pierce laughed heading towards the stairs to head on up. "Dad bought one off a muggle the other day."
"Oh that's lovely, what is he doing shooting it off in the middle of the afternoon?"
"He must be quite bored right now."
