Sam
Around me speaker sounded. The gamemaker's voice boomed loudly,"All tributes have 48 hours to kill their partner tribute. Your partner tribute will not be revealed it could be any of the other tributes. If you can't kill them then you will be executed. You have 48 hours, GOOO!"
I quickly jumped up and grabbed my knives. Knives jumbling and falling out of my arms, I continued to the cave's exit/entrance. On the way out I snatched my Camo blanket from the entry way and braced myself for the freezing cold. Just sticking my head out of the cave, the wind attacked my face and the snow bit it. I wrapped the blanket around my ears, mouth, and nose. I slowly made my way down the mountain side careful to avoid the icy patches.
Almost down the mountain side I started becoming cocky and I stopped looking at where I was walking and slipped on a patch of ice. I fell on my butt and the knives I was carrying tumbled out. With a gasp I began scooping up the fallen knives. Some slipped down the edge I stood on and seemed to tumble into nothingness. Warily I continued down the mountain.
Once I was at the bottom, I began to visualize a plan. It was simple, the other tributes must all be trying to hunt other tributes. So, I would go to the cornucopia, where the tribute would probably be, and just wait there. They would come trying to hunt me and I would sit there pretending to be helpless. The tributes would come at me and Wala! They would be dead in an instant.
With a chuckle, I walked casually to the cornucopia. Behind me I could see each individual step I had taken. My shoe pattern was imprinted in the ground. Well it's not like I cared. I kinda wanted tributes to be following me. Continuing on, I could see the cornucopia looming closer and closer. I jogged to it with excitement, but before I could reach it something caught my eye. A shadow lurked behind me, a tall, muscular looking shadow. It must be that district 5 boy. Darn it! He was probably my biggest competition. This was the one tribute I hoped I wouldn't have to face.
Hoping he thought I didn't see him, I turned and fired a knife at him. At the last second he seemed to see it and ducked down. The knife just barely clipped his forehead. Giovanni, or at least I thought that was his name, growled madly. Ok, this was not very good. He was obviously mad, very mad. With a grunt he came out from behind his cover. I could have sworn he pawed his foot on the ground before he charged at me, weaponless. I quickly flicked a knife at him that buried in his thigh. Expecting him to fall or at least slow down, I was shocked when he just came faster. Giovanni bear hugged me around my sides and tackled me onto the ground. He hit me like a professional linebacker and my body jolted at the impact with the ground. My head banged on the ground and I started becoming dizzy. My vision started to become hazy and then everything went black. When my eyesight and consciousness came back I realized that I had been only been out for about 2 minutes. My head felt a lot clearer and it only took me a second for it to click that Giovanni was going to skin me alive with my own knife.
My eyes went wide as he started to lower the knife. I wrenched my arm from his grip and I knocked the knife out of his hand. Now it was his turn to widen his eyes. Giovanni gasped as I took control and flipped him so that I was on top of him. After I wrestled him so I had full control. A knife was lying a foot away. I reached for it but didn't want to release my weight off the deadly boy. The knife was so close... I strained myself to reach for it. I grasped the edge of it and shifted my weight forgetting about Giovanni. He took the advantage to get up but I was a little faster and scooped up the knife and plunged it in his chest. The knife turned rose red and started to drip down blood.
I placed my hands on both his shoulders and shoved him backwards. He stumbled backwards like a drunk man and his back collided with a tree trunk. His body slumped downwards and blood trickled down from his lip and gushed out of his stomach. I grabbed another knife from the ground and I ran towards him. I swung my arm forward mid-stride and put Giovanni out of his misery by stabbing the knife in his heart. Giovanni gasped and slowly lowered his eyelids. His cannon sounded and the hum of a hovercraft came nearer. Satisfied I begawan to walk toward my previous destination, the cornucopia. Again I was interrupted but this time with good news. The gamemaker's voice came on. "Congratulations Sam Clark you were the first to kill your partner. If you would like you may return to your previous resting spot with the knives around you."
"SURE!" I yelled up at the air and began to gather my knives. Another hovercraft came in and zoomed me towards my cave. It lowered a ladder from the bottom of the craft. I gingerly climbed down the ladder and made a small jump on to the ground. I walked in to my little cave and ate a well deserved meal. With a smile on my face I fell asleep.
