Chapter Four: Take a bath, Google
( y/n ) yawned tiredly as she slowly began to wake up, nuzzling her pillow in appreciation as she heard no alarms breaking the peaceful silence this morning. After a moment of contemplating whether she could be bothered to get up, her stomach grumbling encouraged her and she slid on her panda slippers before shuffling sleepily in her pajamas towards her kitchen. She got a bowl out and poured some cereal boredly, stretching her arms after as the kettle boiled. After a moment of making her drink she carried her tea and cereal over to the table, sitting down on the luckily clean rug cross legged and grabbing the remote to put on some cartoons.
"Good morning." Google mumbled as he rubbed his eyes, slowly waking up as ( y/n ) turned back to look at him and waved shyly as she ate cereal. He tiredly sat up from where he'd been sleeping all night on the sofa, causing ( y/n ) to frown slightly as a certain smell drifted through the air. She paused her cereal eating to sniff her shirt before turning back and observing Google in confusion. Without a word she leant forward and sniffed slightly, causing Google to raise an eyebrow at her when she moved back quickly and cringed.
"Why didn't you say that you sweat?" She grumbled, holding the top of her pajama shirt over her mouth and nose to try and protect herself from the smell. Google shrugged calmly as he watched her, not entirely sure what the fuss was about but assuming it wasn't a life or death situation.
"Wait here . . ." ( y/n ) muttered as she stood up, heading to the bathroom and beginning to run a bath as Google sat in confusion without the foggiest idea of what he'd done. She came back after a moment and sat on the table, avoiding the tea and cereal she had and looking at Google with her arms crossed. This seemed like a simple problem, but there was one dreaded question she had to ask him.
"You do know how to have a bath, right?" She spoke slowly, hoping the robot-man-thing at least knew that. But considering he didn't know how to use a spoon just yesterday, it wasn't exactly surprising when he shook his head.
"No." Google stated bluntly, watching as ( y/n ) hid her face in her hands and groaned in annoyance. After a moment of cursing and grumbling she got up and headed to her room, glad at least when she scavenged through her drawers and found her swimming trunks. For once she was glad she had listened when her Dad had jokily suggested an adjustable waist, although he received a quick elbow to his rib at the time.
"You'll need to put these on in my room. I'll wait out here, okay?" She ordered as she passed him the trunks, although she honestly wasn't sure if he really did have anything to cover or if he was just like an action man figure. She wasn't ready to take that risk about it, although it seemed foolish and the manual said he couldn't really feel emotions like embarrassment she wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt.
Google nodded despite his confusion as he walked with the trunks in one hand into the bedroom to get changed, not sure what that meant but wanting to do this right. ( y/n ) waited outside boredly, sipping her tea and cringing as she realised it was stone cold now. She got up to make another when Google stepped out of the bedroom, looking at ( y/n ) and waiting to see her reaction. She facepalmed, sighing as she moved her hand back to her side so she could see him.
"You have to take off your other clothes first, Google. You're not Superman." She commented tiredly, causing Google to nod in understanding as he headed back into the bedroom to change once more. ( y/n ) merely walked into the kitchen, washing the cup quickly before beginning to boil the kettle again. Already it had been a long morning and she didn't expect it to get any easier, not with the whole 'bathing' problem. She paused as she heard Google come out of the bedroom behind her, ready to tell him he had trousers on his arm or something of the like when she turned around.
" . . . W-Well you did it. Good job." ( y/n ) blinked in surprise, not ashamed to admit there was a blush over her cheeks as she observed him standing there in her swimming trunks for a moment. Google smiled happily as he realised he managed to do something right and stepped back as ( y/n ) headed into the bathroom to add cold water so he didn't get burnt as soon as he got in. When it was ready she called Google in, pausing for a moment as she tried to figure out how this would work at all without breaking at least one thing.
"Be careful getting in, alright? I don't want you to lose an arm or anything." She told Google gently as she stood up and began to help him get in, eyes widening in surprise as she saw his almost black metallic spine that didn't have skin covering it; nothing unnerving or gross, just . . . Strange. Each section of the strange spine had small circles that were currently closed, something she assumed would be used for wires or the like. However she turned her concentration to Google as she helped him into the bath, getting him to sit down carefully before kneeling next to the bath so she was roughly eye-to-eye with the robotic man.
"Water." He commented as he splashed lightly, eyes widening with curiosity before he suddenly tensed as ( y/n ) gently took his glasses off his face and placed them on the sink. She was surprised by his reaction but focused on calming him down before he broke everything.
"They'll get wet if you keep them on in there, and that'll be a pain for you when you clean them. You'll get them back after, okay?" She explained quietly, watching as his expression turned to one of doubt before he nodded in understanding. She then grabbed a scrunchie and poured some showergel on it, dipping it in the water and squishing it so it was bubbly before turning back to look at her confused Google.
"What are y--" He let out a small squeak from the sudden cold, squirming as ( y/n ) began scrubbing his arm with a chuckle. He grumbled and began to fidget as she lifted his arm up, scrubbing him as if he were a big baby but being a bit less bossy about it.
"This was a mistake." Google muttered to her, trying to cross his arms but having his hand lightly slapped as she began scrubbing his other arm calmly. ( y/n ) rolled her eyes, amused by his grumbling.
"Stop being a baby, it's just a little wash." She smiled fondly at the goofy prototype, helping him turn around so she could help wash his back but keeping careful with his robotic spine. Google flinched in surprise as she ran her hand down it lightly, pausing for a moment nervously before relaxing. It was a strange moment, one that was quickly ruined when ( y/n ) poured a jug of bathwater over Google's head to get his hair wet and caused him to let out a small squeal-like noise. She chuckled softly as she wiped his face with a dry flannel gently, letting him open his eyes and turn back to look at her with a grumpy expression. ( y/n ) shrugged but grabbed the shampoo and conditioner, knowing this was probably going to be the difficult bit.
"Turn back to the wall and close your eyes: put a flannel over your face if it helps." She commanded him gently, gaining a nod from him as he turned his back to her with his eyes closed and held onto the flannel tightly just in case. ( y/n ) put some of the shampoo on her hand and paused for a moment, watching Google for a quiet moment before beginning to slather the shampoo into his hair as carefully as she could manage. He squirmed slightly before keeping still as ( y/n ) flicked his shoulder lightly.
"Well, I guess I've had more unpleasant experiences." He muttered, relaxing as the shampoo was scrunched into his hair slowly and he even began smiling slightly as he leant his head back. ( y/n ) chuckled and began washing the shampoo out, then repeating the cycle with conditioner.
"You know, you're not too bad when you're not being a grumpybutt." She spoke with a fond smile as she grabbed a towel from the cupboard, standing up and holding her arms out to Google so he could balance himself as he stood. He stepped out of the bath nervously, his arms latching onto ( y/n )'s for safety before letting go as he stood there without a clue of what to do. His 'owner' paused before helping him dry his arms, then passing the towel to him.
"You dry yourself up, I'll find some clothes for you. Don't break anything, okay?" ( y/n ) explained calmly before stepping out and closing the door behind her, not exactly wanting to invade his privacy or anything. A weird thought, considering she still wasn't sure whether he had anything to show or the emotions to be embarrassed. But she still decided to leave him be just in case, hurrying to her bedroom and searching a thick leather suitcase under her bed for the clothes her brother wore each time he visited. She'd have to get Google some proper clothes later, but for these were clean and would do for now. Stepping back over to the bathroom, ( y/n ) knocked on the door gently before opening it just slightly so she could offer the clothes to him without seeing anything.
"Put these on, I'll wash your . . . 'Google' clothes later." She promised, moving her hand away as Google took the clothes and closing the door so he could have privacy again. She walked back over to the sofa and sat down, waiting and desperately hoping that he knew how to put clothes on. And if he didn't, then she only hoped he really was like an action man.
"I feel blind." Google stated as he stepped out of the bathroom a few minutes later, carrying a towel in one hand and vaguely seeing ( y/n ) in the blurriness. She blinked in surprise as she looked over to him, noting how he hadn't put the boxers over the skinny jeans like she feared he would. It was actually surprising how good he looked in her brother's red and black flannel shirt, although she didn't have much time to concentrate on that as Google began panicking over his lack of sight. ( y/n ) walked to the bathroom quickly before coming back into the living room to face Google, giving his glasses a quick clean before gently sliding them onto his face.
"There." She smiled softly as she put them on him properly, causing him to pause for a moment as he studied her with slight confusion in his gaze. He stopped as she gently pulled him over to the sofa, sitting him on the floor in front of it before seating herself on the sofa behind him and gently taking the towel from him.
"Thank you." He mumbled as ( y/n ) began to dry his hair calmly, a light blush forming along her cheeks as she smiled and quickly used the tv remote to put on some cartoons for him.
"No problem Google." She hummed, drying his hair as he became captivated by the animated program.
Her adorable dork.
