44 - inevitable
day 271
"she's heavier than she looks." josh grunted as he tried to help tyler transfer her limp and bloody body to a large tote like bag, which was meant to assist in moving. luckily for tyler, they are the perfect size to hold a body.
the two had spend quite a while cleaning her up, making sure to get rid of any possible evidence. it was a lot of work, and it wasn't near as fun as the killing part, but tyler wasn't gonna let some stray strand of hair put an end to the legacy he's building.
"where do you wanna do this?" josh asked.
"dump her?" tyler questioned. josh nodded. "i dunno yet. the last time i did it at the crossroads."
tyler loves to see the public's reaction when they find a dead body. it just resparks everyone's fear. after a while, people don't hear as much about "the unidentified serial killer". that's when tyler knows he needs to reinstate the fear.
the media is insane after his work is found. the fear takes over the town, everybody feeling like they can't leave their house.
they become terrified. and tyler loved it.
"how about by the main road coming into town? maybe like at the sign?" tyler thought out loud. he liked the idea of the body being right next to the town sign. like a reminder of what this town holds.
"i'm nervous." josh admitted.
"just think of how you'll feel, seeing the terrified looks on everyone's faces after this. we have control." tyler smiled.
"when are we gonna do it?" josh asked. that did sound pretty nice to him.
"not till early, early morning. around 3." tyler answered.
"well i don't know about you but all this work is making me hungry." josh said. tyler laughed.
"let's go make a snack."
-
"you about ready to go?" josh asked as tyler sat up and stretched.
"yep," tyler said through a yawn.
it was 2:46am, and the boys had passed time by watching tv and talking.
tyler stood up and grabbed his shirt off the floor, sliding it on. he found the rest of his clothes and dressed himself. josh copied.
"go time." tyler said as he opened the basement door. he headed down there and came back up carrying the large bag over his shoulder.
"open up the garage door." tyler said. josh listened, opening the door and then the trunk of tyler's car so he could toss the bag in.
he walked around to the back, grabbing a tool and taking off his license plate. he swapped it out with a different one, from a different state.
"i'm nervous." josh said.
"in a good way or bad way?" tyler asked.
"good way? i think?" josh thought.
"it's nerve wracking for sure. the safest way is getting rid of the body completely, but that means that no crime scene, no one can see your work." tyler said. josh turned and smiled at him.
"i used to be on the other side." josh said. "it's a lot less scary on this side." he said. tyler chuckled.
-
tyler pulled over at the town sign, after driving by a few times to survey it out and make sure there was no cameras.
luckily the area had no buildings or houses around it. it was the perfect spot. they both grabbed their gloves and ski masks.
"ready?" tyler asked, josh nodding. he took a deep breath and exited the car.
tyler came around to his side and opened the back door. he grabbed the bag, grunting as he pulled it out of the car and dropped it onto the ground with a thud.
he unzipped it, revealing the lifeless, stiff body of the young woman. he reached in to pick her up.
"ow," josh heard, seeing tyler yanked his hand back. "here, grab her feet." he said.
josh followed instructions, grabbing her legs as tyler grabbed under her arms. they transferred her to the grassy ground, right beneath the little green sign that said the the town name, Granville, and the large population.
she layed on her back, mouth open and her head tilted, exposing the deep slash in her neck. her stomach was also slashed open, her organs spilling through her torn and dirty shirt. her once brown hair was now caked and matted in dark red. rigor was set in, her arms frozen in their defensive position. the unlucky person who finds her might not be able to shake it. they will have the image stuck in their head for the rest of their lives.
josh shakily breathed in, cautiously looking around.
"w-eoah." josh stuttered. tyler chuckled, squatting down and doing one last scan of the body to make sure nothing was on her. he turned to josh.
"you okay?" tyler asked.
"it's such a rush." josh replied.
"cmon," tyler smiled and nodded his head to the car.
-
once they arrived back home, tyler switched his license plate back before showering.
they cleaned up thoroughly, before climbing into bed. tyler turned on the news. he didn't plan on sleeping. he didn't want to miss it.
josh however, knocked out as soon as his head hit the pillow. he figured tyler would wake him up once their story hit the news.
sure enough, around 7am the breaking news screen popped up. tyler gently shook josh awake.
"it's time." he said, softly brushing the hair out of joshs face.
"they found her?" josh mumbled, sitting up and rubbing his eyes.
they both turned to the news.
"it's another terrifying day here in Granville as the body of a young woman identified to be 23 year old olivia elsher was found brutally murdered....."
"i wonder who found her?" josh asked.
"probably someone going to work or going on a walk or something early."
"...this is your reminder to lock your doors, don't go out alone, and stay aware of your surroundings. no leads have been produced on our serial killer. here is lead detective, special agent paxley with the granville police department."
the tv cut to a press conference, with the detective giving a speech.
"me and my team are trying everything in our power to collect any information or find witnesses. we have to ask if you have any tips to please call our tip line. i know this is a scary time and we are working day in and day out to figure out just what is going on in our once safe town. our condolences go out to all of the families that fell victim.....
"i'm unstoppable." tyler turned to josh, the news still talking about it. he smiled, his eyes turning dark. "we're unstoppable."
it's pretty safe to say that joshua had completely lost any humanity he once had.
tyler just sucked it right out of him.
