day 125
josh reached out and grabbed the cup of tea from tyler, saying thank you as tyler sat down next to him with his own cup.
"you're welcome." tyler said, reaching down and grabbing the remote to change the channel. "anything specific you wanna watch?"
"no i'm good." josh smiled.
he looked at tyler as he scrolled through shows to watch.
for the first time, he could say that he understood why tyler killed.
killing was an out of body experience.
he understood the rush, the rage.
all of it.
he was in it now. no going back.
he couldn't even imagine what life would be like on the outside. he couldn't see a world in which he'd rather go back to his old life.
he was a god now.
"i think there's gonna be some pretty bad storms coming up, might need to look at that." tyler said, remembering he heard that yesterday. "what?" he chuckled, seeing josh was staring at him.
"i'm sitting on your couch." josh said.
"yeah, yeah i'm aware." tyler nodded.
"i went from the basement to the couch."
"that's pretty impressive." tyler said. he put on the news, setting the remote down.
"it has now been 6 days since missing 22 year old garrett paulson has been seen. nothing is certain but we have reports saying we can assume this disappearance is related to the phantom butcher case. a candle lit memorial will be held for young garret at the first baptist church. here is his mother on the situation."
"here, sorry," tyler went to grab the remote and change it. josh grabbed his arm.
"i wanna see it." he said.
tyler chuckled.
"he just," she was in tears. "his fraternity was having a party. he stopped by before to grab some clothes, and we just never heard from him again. no one's seen him since," she broke down, her husband standing next to her.
"you killed her son." tyler asked. "how's it feel?"
"unreal." josh replied. he thought it possible ryan probably knew this guy.
he didn't feel bad. he felt powerful.
"i wanna watch my stuff."
"what?" tyler looked over.
"i wanna watch my news stuff." josh repeated.
"okay." tyler shrugged. "you sure?" josh nodded.
tyler pulled up youtube, searching up the news about him.
"another devastating day here as another person was reported missing last night. 20 year old joshua dun was last seen by his roomate, ryan ross. here he is on the story."
the camera switched to ryan and a reporter outside of their apartment. josh gasped. ryan was obviously not doing good. his eyes were sunken in, his hair unkept.
"i uh, sorry." he paused, wiping his tears. "i saw him yesterday before he uh went to his night class. we talked and i uh went to bed and that was the last time i saw him. i knew he was gonna be late but the next morning when he hadnt been here yet i got worried uhm and called his boyfriend. he uh, no one could find him." ryan trailed off, a little too upset to continue talking.
"how you doing?" tyler checked in.
"do my parents talk?" josh asked.
"no, they said they didn't want to speak to the public. just wanted their privacy." tyler replied.
"what about dallon?" josh said.
"they quoted him in an article but he didn't have a video." tyler said. they turned back to the tv.
"joshua was reported being last seen approximately around 9pm after leaving the school library. security footage shows him leaving, and that was the last known place. all that was found in the scene was his phone and keys."
"it's like he disappeared into thin air."
"police still have no leads. more on the story as it progresses."
the video ended, tyler getting off of youtube and looking at josh.
"so?" tyler asked.
"they probably think i'm dead." josh said.
"yeah, everyone that goes missing doesn't come back." tyler said. josh just smiled.
"i'm special though." he said, looking at the man.
"yes you are." tyler nodded.
"good." josh just said.
tyler pressed a kiss to his lips, before going and turning the news back on to the weather.
