Chapter 6

Mrs. Smith POV:
I was peacefully teaching class, when the door banged open.

I knew who it was before even looking at the student.

"Why were you late this time Jackson?" I asked, sighing.

"Couch wanted to talk." Percy said.

"About what?" I asked.

"You don't need to know" Percy said, I knew that I wouldn't get my answer so I didn't push any further.

Percy sat in the back of the class—as usual—and I continued with my lesson.

"Like I said earlier, before I was rudely interrupted, today we will be writing poems." I heard a series of groans, but I ignored them.

"You will be writing a poem about how you are feeling, and then you will read it in front of the class." This caused even more groans, but like last time, I ignored them.

"You have 10 minutes" I said, before siting at my desk.

With 6 minutes left, I glanced around the room, everyone was working on there poems...except Percy.

I decided, that this time, I wouldn't go call him out. I want to see what he did.

"Times up!" I said.

"How about...Jessie! Come up to the front, and read your poem!" I said, smiling.

Jessie came up and recited her poem.

"Happiness,
Happiness comes from within the soul,
Happiness comes from the heart,
Happiness,
I feel happy when you talk,
I feel happy when you walk,
Happiness,
I feel happy."

"That was, wonderful!" I said.

"Next up we have, Winston!" I said.

Winston walked up with annoyance in his steps.

"Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
I hate this class,
So should you."  The smile that was on ,y face quickly turned into a frown.

"Go to your seat" I said.

"Madison" I said.

Madison came up and began reciting her poem.

"Sunshine,
And
Rainbows,
That's how I feel,
When your in the other room." Madison said.

"Lovely" I said, with anger in my tone.

"How about, Courtney"

Once again, the student came up to the front.

"Melodies and Rhythms,
Sun and Moon,
Mom and Dad,
Books and iPads,
They are alike,
Yet so different,
But mostly different." She said.

"Um, okay." I said.

"Tim" I said.

"Melvin" I said.

Melvin came up to the front of the room, like everyone else, and started to recite his poem.

"The sky's are falling north,
While the world is falling south,
The nights are getting shorter,
The days are getting longer,
The time has come,
The start over." He said.

Finally, it has come down to one more person...Percy.

"Percy" I said with a growl.

Percy grumpily came up to the classroom.

"The sky was once bright,
It once was all right,
But now I'm siting here,
Wondering,
Thinking,
What I could've done,
To save you."

"Percy, the poem was supposed to be about your feelings, not someone else's. Do it again." I said.

"That was about my feelings!" Percy said.

"Baloney" I said.

"Fine. I will write it again." Percy said angrily.

-:-:-:-:-

"Percy, let's see what you have this time." I said.

Once again, Percy came to the front of the classroom, to recite his poem.

"There was once a time,
When I would think,
I had a good life,
That, it would end up okay,
That you would always be with me,
But now I know,
That was all a lie,
The world doesn't work that way." Percy said.

"Stop writing about death Percy, you've never lost anyone," I said.

Percy looked up at me, with tears threatening to fall. His eyes held, saddens, heart ache, and hatred. I'd never been more scared in my life.

"I've lost everyone. You know nothing about me!" Percy said.

"G-go to your seat" I said, shakily.
