That was the sound of the machine keeping track of Conner's heart as the team, along with some league (Vixen, John Stewart,artian Manhunter Flash, Arrow, and Black Canary) were watching him through a glass window in the cave

Batman looked at Conner's condition, broken arm, damaged ribs, cracked bones, and unconscious at the moment then looked at the team along with Red Arrow, who was injured for answers to what happened

"What happened, " John Stewart asked as the sight haunted him. He may have been a soldier, but this kid was fighting for his life.

" We were waiting for Superboy- I mean Conner to come back from Metropolis, but he took too long and he didn't answer his com-link, minutes later, Roy called us for an emergency and we saw him trying to defend Conner" Robin explained as Batman turned to Roy

"Why were you in Metropolis anyway, a long way from Star City," Flash asked as he helped Wally, whose arm was broken from maxima

" I was tracking a crime syndicate and it lead me to Metropolis," Roy said " I was heading to where I might find I lead and I found Super Jr's com-link smashed and he was all messed up" Roy finished

"And who did it ?"Black Canary asked as her anger began to show.

"Metailo, Parasite, Lex Luther, and Maxima," Roy said "Speaking of Luther, where was Superman? Different planet ?"

"No he was there in the city, having lunch with Lois," Batman said as he got a bit angry

"But he left Connor to almost die, why,?" Artemis asked with concern in voice as she was worried at Connor's condition 

"Is it obvious, ever since that super-girl showed up he's been paying more attention to her than him, seriously he wants her to become a full member or at least have her join this team, I'm not having her, "Robin said as Kaldur, Wally, and Artemis nodded in agreement

"Strangely enough I saw Black Adam shock parasite and knock out Maxima, before leaving, then you guys showed up," Roy said as the heroes were shocked at this news

"But why would he save Connor?" Miss Martian asked as her uncle helped her

"I don't know," Batman said as he pressed a button on his gauntlet, activating the transporter "  and began to walk towards it.

"Batman, where are you going," Vixen asked as he stopped walking and turned to the rest of the group

"I have an announcement for the league," Batman said "And I also have some words for Superman"

[On the watchtower]

The league along with Lois, Kara were waiting for batman and the rest of the company to show up as a meeting was called by Batman

All of a sudden, Vixen, Stewart, Flash, Arrow, and Canary all walked into the room each with a face of anger towards superman, who was confused at their anger

As Batman walked in, he turned to Superman and gave an intense glare which made him flinch in fear

"I have an announcement to make--" Batman said before being interrupted by Clark

"Oh you're making Kara a league member, great--" Clark said, only for Batman to give him a glare of anger, shutting him up"

"No that's not it, Superboy was--"Batman was once again interrupted but this time by Kara

"Oh great, what did that thing do?" Kara asked

"As some of you know, Superboy was involved in a fight with a few of your enemies, Superman" Batman s Clark looked nervous 

"I was busy..." Clark said

"With Lois at lunch," Canary said with an angry tone

"We found out after the end of the fight when I and a few others had to rush Conner into medical care," Flash said

"Conner was almost killed if not for Black Adam and Red Arrow," John said with a pound to the table

"How is he ?" Hawk man asked him. While he wasn't close to the clone, he did see a bit of Thanagarian in him

"Conner has been stabilized for the moment and is recovering right now but is in critical condition," Canary said 

"Good," Hawk-woman said as she considered Conner as her nephew

"Should have let them finish the job" Kara said

 "WHAT?!!!" Canary yelled "Conner almost died and your answer is they should finish him off? What kind of person are you?"

"He is an abomination clone of Kryptonian" Kara answered "On Krypton, those are considered--" She was interrupted by Canary

"Shut up about Krypton !! it's dead!! D E A D " Canary yelled with anger

"And why should we trust you?" Huntress asked as she considered Connor's family as well "Yeah, he may be angry a lot of the time but he's angry at Supes and then you show up outta nowhere and say you're a hero " she paused for a moment  "Yet you try to kill the moment he said hello to you, so why should we trust you anyway?"

"Listen to me Kara was just---"Clark was interrupted by Guy Garnder

"Shut up blue, when she attack Superboy, she injured Kyle, who was protecting the guy, and almost caused Soranik and her father to invade earth," Guy Gardner said as Conner had become a nephew to him as well "We almost had an invasion thanks to the brat"

"Who's her father?" Shazam asked

"Sinistero" Hal said

"How could you do  this to him, Clark ?" Lois asked as she was ashamed of Clark's actions "I said he needed guidance and you lied to me about him not wanting anything to do with you "

"No, I just" Clark couldn't form words as the group looked at him, waiting for his answer "Is this a way for you all to tell me I was wrong?"

"This isn't how you failed as a person," Batman said as he activated a projector showing Conner on the hospital bed. "This is about the consequences of your actions Kal you have been avoiding him and your negligence almost killed him, what would have happened if no one would have been there to save him, what then? Lie and say kind words about him at his funeral for the public ?!!!!"

Batman then took a deep breath and calmed himself down and made a decision for Conner's life

"He needs a father," Batman said

"I'm....." Clark was interrupted by Bruce raising his hand

"You're greatly mistaken since you're unfit to take responsibility I will be taking him back to my home and he'll be staying with me," Batman said, shocking the league with his answer. "He'll need guidance from someone else"

"So you can indoctrinate another one in your crusade, " Wonder Woman said with a disgusted tone  "And with a thief no less"

"Hypocritical from a woman who comes from an island with women trained to kill from birth" Huntress muttered under her breath

"That thief is proving to be a great mother than you will ever be, at least she won't teach him how to murder people," Oliver said as he had seen Selina be a good mother to robin

"Correct me to be wrong but what happened to all the men on your Island that weren't born female?" Canary asked sarcastically

"That's not fair," Diana said in a quiet tone

"Oh. not fair, is it but your people sending them to be executed or work in a Forge is?" Hawkwoman asked as Batman walked away from the table and to the transporter

"Also, stay out of my city for now," Batman said with authority in his voice

"Or what," Superman said

"I'll show you why I'm considered the most dangerous in the league," Batman said in a low threatening tone as walked into the transporter and left the watchtower as many others left as well

As Clark, Kara, and Lois were still sitting, some of the heroes that were on batman's side gave them a look of anger.

"You wanted him dead huh?" Flash asked, "The boy wanted a family and you wanted him dead?"

"No, I just, I mean, I..", Clark couldn't find the words to tell them as Shazam walked up to them

"I can't believe I used to worship you," Shazam said "I guess it's true, never meet your heroes"

Clark just had a look of ashamed on his face as the group left him Kara and Lois behind alone in the watchtower

[A week later]

Conner had been moved into the Batcave, though was still unresponsive as Selina looked on in sadness at his condition

At first, she was a little concerned about taking in Conner, but after the fight and hearing all he went through, her motherly instincts kicked into overdrive for him

As she looked at him, she thought about his team, as a lot of the sidekicks were having trouble, because Superman put Supergirl  on the team and they refused to make her the leader and would criticize her for carelessness, which led to her being off the team 

As she was thinking, Alfred walked down to check on her well-being as she hadn't been sleeping or eating for awhile

"Misstress Wayne, I know you're worried about young master Conner's health, but you must get some rest as well," Alfred said, as Selina gave him a look "It won't do any good for you to be unhealthy as well, you must take care of yourself too, please?"

Selina nodded and headed upstairs, as Alfred sat by Conner's bed with a somber look on his face

"Oh, young master Conner," Alfred said in a sad tone "I am pulling for your recovery, young Damien is somewhat trill at the prospect of having a new sibling, Ms. Gordan is worried about you, Jason is checking up on you anytime he can and master Grayson is burying himself in work," Alfred said  "Young master Wayne.....please keep fighting to come back to us, to your home"

[Later that night]

As Conner was still unresponsive, the wind was blowing in the cave as a mysterious figure appeared out of nowhere and looked at Conner

"Yes, you'll do great" The person as his eyes glowed bright

[Inside Conner's mind]

Conner woke and look around and saw that he was in an Egyptian-like throne room with the moon shining bright 

"Where am I ?" Conner asked as he looked around but couldn't find anyone, only turn around and see

"Hello there young one," A voice said as Connor looked up and saw a man with a bird head standing in front of him this frightened him for a moment before he regained his composer 

"Who are you?" Connor asked he moved closer 

"My name is Khonshu god of the moon, Justice, and vengeance," The bird man said as he sat on the throne

"And I have seen how far you've come," Khonshu said "As a God, I can see everything and I do see the struggle inside you, the pain, the anger and you are near death's door right"

Conner was shocked at the news, that he was so injured that he could die

"However, I do have an offer for you that will benefit both of us," Khonshu said as this piqued Conner's interest

"What is it?" Conner asked 

"Become my champion, my fist of justice and you will survive," Khoshu said "My final word against evildoers"

Connor was unsure of this deal he knew he could use help in getting better but he didn't know if Khonshu had alternate motives for him

"You are unsure of my offer, young clone," Khonshu said as shrank down to Conner's level "But I know you are worthy of this choice"

Connor was surprised at this fact as  he never felt that anyone really saw him as a hero, only a liability for other heroes

"I know what it's your heart," Khonshu said as he placed a hand on his shoulder "Will, Strength, Justice"

"I accept," Conner said as he nodded as Khonshu raised his staff as the moon shined brightly

"Do you swear to protect the travelers of the night?

"Do you swear to Vanquish evil?"

"I do"

"Do you swear to yourself that innocent lives will be protected by your hands and bring justice to those who deserve it ?"

"I will"

"Arise, My Moon Knight," Khonshu said as the moon's rays shined bright on Connor, his eyes glowing pure white as his body was covered by bandages

[in the real world]

Bruce and Selina ran towards the Batcave as they received an alarm of an unknown presence in the cave and were worried for Conner's safety 

When they arrived they were shocked at Connor standing up, a bright light shined on him, and they followed the light to reveal a bird-headed man standing as his staff shined brightly 

"Who are you," Bruce asked as he raised a Batarang

"And what are you doing to my son," Selina said as she grabbed her whip

"Do not worry, Bat and Cat, I'm not hurting him " Khonshu said "I'm just giving him a boost"

As Conner's eyes glowed pure white Bruce and Selina watched in amazement as his scars began to glow and heal themselves, but his body was healing from the injuries they notice a strange symbol of the moon being formed on him

"Kryptotain blood, pathetic," Khonshu said with a tired tone in his voice

Bruce and Selena turn to the birdman with  questions only to be interrupted "Do not worry, I'm just locking the Kryptonian blood in him, Kal-El's blood has caused him pain"

"Who are you," Selina asked with concern

"I am Khonshu, god of the moon," Khonshu said "A better god than Zeus by the way"

"Why are you healing him?" Bruce asked, unsure of this god's motive for his son

"I have seen his past, his pain and sorrow," Khonshu said "But I saw him protect innocents during that fight and I knew he was perfect for it"

"For what ?" Selina asked with concern 

"To be my champion, the hero of the night, Judgment of Evil, Protector of the Innocence, Guardian of the Travelers of the night," Khonshu said 

 "My Moon Knight

all of a sudden Connor's body began to be covered by bandages, as the two parents were about to move closer to help him only for Khonshu to raise his hand, stopping them as the bandage  formed into a suit 

"How do you feel,?" Khonshu asked as the others waited for an answer

All of a sudden Connor's eyes opened to reveal pure white

 "Stronger"

[Black Adam]

Adam was looking over a cave wall painting and touched it 

"This is what I dreamed of, he has returned, and I will need their help in the battle," Adam said "Khonshu has found his hopefully the others will arrive soon"

The wall reveals a painting of gods fighting against something wicked with five figures one dressed in white one with one red with horns one with claws in ears one with wings of silver as the night I finally went with fangs
fighting against a wicked figure

His name will be Scott Drake (Nolan North who voiced superbly also voiced Nathan Drake from Uncharted and Cyclops/ Scott Summers in Wolverine and the xmen cartoon
