Melissa was going in for a surgery and had been worried about it for months, the survival rate was been good and there was basically 99.9% she would survive, but she was worried the cancer had spread to fast and there was no stopping it.

"There are moments I wish I was Kryptonian" Melissa sighed.

"There are moments I wish I had a sonic scream" I said, "Would've came in handy raising 5 kids"

"Super speed definitely would've helped with Bennett and Lian" She laughed.

"Has Caity called?" I asked.

"Yea, last night. She's sending Melinda with me as her little informant" Melissa shook her head. "I'm gonna lie to myself and say it's just for the book though"

"Right, Unmatched" I smiled.

"It's gonna be fun to read when she finishes it" She took a sip of her water.

Melissa had been at my side when Manu died, she held me up through the funeral. When time came she offered to move me back to Vancouver with the kids and I took up the offer. They had the "guest" house built for me and the kids and we helped each other out all the time.

Than 3 years ago the cancer diagnosis came and she became less of herself, she had 14 surgeries done and numerous brushes with death but she was still here.

She looked older than she was, her hair was gone and she had bruises along her arms were IVs we're out in, she had to take various cocktails of medications daily and couldn't do what she use to be able to do.

She got to do a few cameos on the new Arrowverse reboots as Alura Zor-El and even produced and directed some of the episodes however she could barely make it to set without getting sick.

She wasn't Melissa anymore and everyone saw it. "I signed the DNR" She looked at me.

"I know" I said. "I figured you would"

"I can't continue like this" She teared up, "I started seeing Manu and Juliana in the corner of my eyes during treatment, I can feel the cold air of death"

"I know" I started tearing up too.

"I'm sorry" Melissa wiped her face. "I need you to promise me something"

"Anything" I said.

"Make sure Stephen is okay, stay close to him and ho him up like I did with you" She said. "I don't have to worry about the kids because they have their friends but Stephen won't see reason to continue on. With Lian out of the house and being retired, he'll try giving up but I want him to see all of the wedding days and all of the grandchildren. I need you to be his best friend, maybe more, I don't care just keep him going"

"I promise" I cried. "You just better hug Manu as tightly as possible once you get to the other side"

"I will, I promise"

Melinda and I sat in the waiting room of Vancouver General. It was 2 hours after Melissa went in for her and Stephen had left to pick up Olivia and Bennett.

"What happened to Rodger?" Melinda asked, "After you two broke up"

"He married the girl he fell for a couple months after my wedding" I said, "They had 2 kids and his wife ended up catching one of the last cases of Coronavirus and passed away before their youngest's first birthday. The last I heard from him he remarried a lawyer and they moved to England with their kids"

"Wow" Melinda said, jotting it down on her list.

"How far along in the story are you?" I asked.

"I just finished writing about how my parents announced their pregnancy with me" She smiled.

"Oh, that was a good time" I smiled. "We all knew it was coming but it was still shocking in a way"

"I mean they had only been dating for like 3 months" She chuckled.

Stephen walked in with Olivia and Bennett carrying food. "Hey!" Olivia smiled, sitting next to Melinda and stealing her notepad. "Oh, Chapter ideas"

"Any news?" Stephen asked.

"No, but they did say it could last a couple hours" I said, taking a bag of chips.

"Did she tell you about the DNR?" He asked, the kids got distracted by Melinda's notepad and didn't even react.

"Yea" I said. "She told me she can see Manu and Juliana"

"Yea, she called me Manu once" Stephen sighed. "I knew it would come eventually, but it's so fast"

"Exactly what happened with me and Manu" I said, "I knew we weren't immortal and eventually we would die, but... god, if happened to fast"

"Yea" Stephen sighed. "You never realize how much you fear it until it comes"

5 hours in surgery and no updates. Olivia began to worry and started pacing. "It's only supposed to be 3 hours, maybe 4" she said.

"It's going to be-" I stopped when I saw the doctor come out, he was tired and worried. "Dr. Dobson?"

"How is she?" Olivia asked.

"She's awake already, she's...." He stopped and sighed. "The cancer spread to far, her organs are going to start failing and.... the surgery pushed to many limits we didn't see"

"Oh god" Bennett stood up.

"She's not going to make it through the night"

We sat with Melissa, FaceTiming everyone, from Caity and Grant in Virginia to Huia in New Zealand. Everyone kept a neutral attitude but I could tell no one believed she'd wake up after she fell asleep.

Finally it was just us. Me, Stephen, Melinda, Olivia, Bennett, Katherine, Lian, Johnathan, Dinah, Laurel, Grant, and Aivry.

The kids hugged and kissed her, she told them how much she loved them and that she promised to watch over them with pride. Slowly they left to head back to the Amell Residence.

"You better finish that book, Melinda" Melissa smiled.

"I promise" Melinda said, "Your story will be told"

Melinda and Olivia left with their arms linked, holding each other up. "I suppose this is it, Angel Puppy" I sighed.

"It is, Siren" She smiled softly. "You two will be okay, you got each other"

"But we won't have you" Stephen said, caressing her cheeks.

Melissa went to say something when she started coughing and blood splattered in her hand, I quickly handed her a tissue and sat next to her.

"Thank you" she coughed again, wiping the blood away. "I'll be with you in your hearts and memories, I assure you. It's just time for me to join Juliana and Manu"

Stephen went to use the bathroom while I sat, Melissa gotten worse over the hour, the trash can beside her bed filled with blood soaked tissues and her bruising became a little worse.

"I have a confession to make" Melissa spoke up.

"What is it?" I asked.

"I had a crush on Manu" She said.

"Oh, Mellie, I knew" I said, smirking.

"What?" She asked, shocked.

"Back in 2017" I said, "Everyone knew"

"God" She laughed. "Everyone?!"

"Everyone" I nodded. "Manu knew. We saw you stumble over your words around him, we noticed the glances and giggles, you were like a school girl. Manu thought it was adorable and flirted a little here or there but than one day it stopped and suddenly Stephen was always around you"

"So I wasn't imagining things" She sighed.

"Don't worry, I'm pretty sure Caity had a thing for him at one point too" I smiled. "Why'd you feel the need to tell me?"

"I... I guess I want to give permission" She said.

"For what?" I asked.

"You and Stephen" She said. "I know you say you don't love him like that, but once I'm gone... that might change. If you two fall in love and want to live the rest of your lives together than I give you permission to do so"

I felt tears well up and started sniffling. "I don't think that'll happen, but thank you" I smiled. "Don't worry, I'll take good care of him"

Stephen walked in and saw us crying and sighed, "This... all of this just doesn't feel right" he said.

"It won't feel right for a while" Melissa said, "but it is right... just like Manu my times limited"

"I love you, Angel" Stephen smiled.

"I love you too" She smiled back.

"You should sleep" Stephen said, fixing her blankets. She leaned back and started drifting in and out of sleep until her eyes stayed close, she spoke up one last time.

"Goodbye, my love"

She fell asleep, I knew she might not wake up so I attempted to sleep as well. Hoping that when I opened my eyes she would be awake and better.

At 4am I woke to the flatline and the doctor rushing in to turn it off. He looked over her and Delcared "Time of death; 4:35am August 21st, 2044"
