"What are you doing about Crowley and Aziraphale?" Dagon asked, and Beelzebub sighed; they hated hearing those names. For one reason, they hated almost everyone (apart from Gabriel of course) and especially their demons, and that included Crowley, for another, they were jealous of the freedom.

"What do you mean?" They asked.

"It's been a few months now and the demons will want to know your doing something about it."

"What exactly can I do? He's immune from holy water."

"Dunno, but you'd better be doing something or there'll be a riot probably." Dagon stated helpfully. Ugh, they were right. The demons could get very violent when they were annoyed or thought they weren't doing well enough... or felt like it.

"I'll set up a demon to spy on them, to see what they're up to." They said, pleased with themselves for coming up with something that good on the spot.

"Don't think you'll find a demon willing to do that." They said, which was annoying. There always had to be some sort of reason it wouldn't work didn't there? Typical.

"Fine then, I'll do it myzelf." They gave in, starting to buzz a bit at the annoyance. Then something came to them, they were having good ideas everywhere here! They could get Gabriel to do the same, because they were sure Heaven would want him to be doing something too. They grinned slightly without meaning to. "I'll go up there and start watching them tomorrow, now go." They told Dagon, all to smug with themselves by this point. Dagon just raised their eyebrow and left.

Without a second thought, Beelzebub miracled themselves to Gabriel's office, excited to tell him their idea. He was in the middle of a meeting with some random angel they didn't know, so they politely told them to fuck off.

"I had an idea" they told him eagerly.

"I was in the middle of a meeting, you can't just come here and tell angels to leave."

"Why not, I just did"

"You'll raise suspicions."

"No I won't, your angels are just as clueless and stupid as demons." Gabriel just rolled his eyes at that.

"What do you want then." He asked, showing a kinder expression this time. He could never stay angry at Beelzebub.

"I'm going to Earth to spy on Crowley and Aziraphale for a while to convince the rest of Hell I'm doing something." Gabriel raised his eyebrow, signalling they were interested, "you could meet me there and we could spend some time together while stalking them." Gabriel smiled admiringly, it was a good idea.

"That's a brilliant idea." He stated, making the fly smile at the praise. The demon vanished again, leaving Gabriel alone to try and find the angel that had left and explain what had just happened.

~a few days later; Day one~

Beelzebub exited Hell, and arrived at the top of the green tainted escalator. They waited there for a few minutes, gazing up to Heaven, waiting for Gabriel. Soon enough, they saw him appear, moving steadily down, with light shining wildly behind him. He looked very angelic, and Beelzebub just huffed at how he always had to show off.

"Hello Beelzebub." He said, trying to be casual and to pretend he didn't already know they would be there, and failing greatly. He just got a mumble 'hi' in response before they walked out together.

The first thing they did was find Aziraphale's library, they were there for a reason and they had to have something to say when they returned. They were only there together to enjoy being with each other. The library was old, and easy enough to find with some miracles and demonic intervention.

They didn't actually have a plan of how to spy subtly, because it was undoubtable they would get recognised. However, they just went with it, and they could come up with a proper plan for tomorrow. Beelzebub turned into a fly, which would come in useful later, and sat themselves on the angel's shoulder.

Gabriel entered the shop, and the bell went. Aziraphale's head appeared from behind a shelf, and the cheerful expression faulted with worry. "Oh, hello Gabriel, what are you doing here?"

"I was..." he started, unsure what to say because how exactly do you say don't worry about me I'm just here to spy on you without raising suspicions? "Just here to look, actually." It raised suspicions, but what else could he say?

"Oh, looking for anything in particular?" Aziraphale asked, unmistakably wanting Gabriel to be in and out as quick as possible. Beelzebub flew off. They liked being a fly, they could watch humans (or demons... or angels) whenever they pleased and no one would have a second thought (just remember that the next time you see a fly). There was a problem, which was that they had to make sure no human was going to try and kill them, but that didn't matter much.

"No." Gabriel replied carelessly before wandering off, taking a random book off the shelf and sitting down on a sofa. Beelzebub could tell Aziraphale was wary, but didn't care much, why wouldn't he have doubts? They decided to set off on a mission to find Crowley, if he was even in there, and were disappointed when the mission wasn't very long. They found the serpent curled up on the windowsill, sleeping. Not very interesting. They envied Crowley, getting to sleep like that so casually.

They flew down and started buzzing loudly around him to wake him up. He hissed and slithered away. Weak demon, they thought, any competent demon ought to kill them on the spot and send them to Hell for being annoying. They followed him through a hole in the wall to a different room, where he curled up again. They buzzed even louder, landing on him and crawling around on him annoyingly. He opened his eyes and stared at it, glaring threateningly, but, Beelzebub being themselves, stayed where they were. Crowley turned to human form, leaving Beelzebub to be on his knee, and looked slightly surprised when the fly wasn't. He hissed, the fly buzzed.

Crowley was getting suspicious. "Is that you Beelzebub?" He asked, so they flew away leaving the demon feeling stupid. They watched him for a while more, but he didn't really do anything, so they went back to Gabriel, finding him to be in an awkward conversation with Aziraphale. They landed on his shoulder, buzzing extra loud to show they wanted to leave, and they could tell he felt the same.

Gabriel idly looked at his watch and did a fake-surprised expression, "I'd better be going he said." Aziraphale practically sighed with relief and didn't protest in any way. The pair left, although, as far as Aziraphale was concerned, it was only Gabriel.

Beelzebub turned back to human form once they were out of the bookshop's sight, and they went to a hotel, which, by some miracle, had a room free. As soon as they were in the luxurious, grand room, Beelzebub flopped onto the double bed. They sighed. They hadn't slept in ages, and quite liked sleeping, but they didn't want to waste the time that could be spent with Gabriel. They were only here for a couple of days after all.

They looked up expectantly at the angel, he sat on the bed and they started hugging each other whilst kissing. All they could do was hope Heaven or Hell weren't watching. They kept kissing deeply for a while, at some points aggressively, thankful that they didn't need to breath. They eventually stopped, and slept through the remaining hours of the night.

~day two~

They woke up in the morning, still in each others arms. They had to leave early, to see if they could actually spy this time.

As soon as they arrived outside the shop, Beelzebub went back to their fly form, and watched Crowley. Gabriel didn't have another form, so he just made himself temporarily invisible and hoped he wouldn't crash into anything.

They entered, and miracled the bell not to ring. In the back of the shop, they found Aziraphale reading, and Crowley in snake form (again) sleeping. Unfortunately for them, Aziraphale must've heard the footsteps, because he looked up, and raised his eyebrow when he saw no one there. Gabriel stayed as still as possible, whilst Beelzebub buzzed around (laughing, not that anyone could tell). Crowley also woke up, and looked around suspiciously. It was tense, with the angel and serpent staring doubtfully into the space filling the room. They could feel that the space was not empty, but didn't know what it was.

Crowley turned to his human form, and stood up. He wasn't sure what he was going to do, but he felt like he should be doing something, so he hissed. Gabriel decided to turn un-solid, it would take a lot of concentration and he wouldn't be able to keep it up for long, but he needed to.

"Angel are you getting the feeling something's there?" Crowley asked. At least that was something they could report back to their offices; Crowley had a nickname for Aziraphale.

"Yes... I am rather." Aziraphale said cautiously. "Maybe it's nothing." He said a minute or two later after nothing happened, resuming his book. Crowley hissed again, not that it would do anything, no one was there because Gabriel had silently walked away (he was inhumanly silent) and Beelzebub was now observing Aziraphale's book.

"It's about how a bridge in London was built," Aziraphale told the fly, who was showing an interest in the paragraph about people who died making it.

"Zira who are you talking to?" Crowley asked. So, there was another nickname was there?

"The fly." That sounded outrageous. Beelzebub was a fly and even they knew it sounded stupid to talk to a fly.

"Whatever." Crowley dismissed it, not even bothering to try and talk some sense into him, he knew it wouldn't work anyway. Beelzebub just flew off and landed on a shelf to watch them, wondering whether Gabriel had found anything.

Gabriel had been looking around the books, wondering if anything would be there. He wandered around the shelves, until he stumbles to the angelology and demonology section. He also happened to find a book labelled Archangel Gabriel on the spine, and, being the modest Archangel he was, he touched the spine and miracled himself to know what the pages said. It wasn't completely accurate, but the main parts were right, and he wondered how the humans knew this stuff.

He read the spines of the other books, Lord Beelzebub, 7 princes of Hell, Dagon, Duke Hastur & Ligur, Archangel Michael, Archangel Uriel, Archangel Sandalphon, he recognised all of those. Then he came to one he didn't know, which was surprising since he ought to know all the Archangels. Archangel Raphael. It sounded familiar, but he didn't know them, maybe they'd fallen? He quickly miracled himself the knowledge of the first few pages.

Archangel Raphael, fallen Archangel. That made sense. Believed to have become the demon Crawly, who then changed his name to become Crowley. He was the snake of Eden... blah blah. That was unexpected, and some brilliant information to send back upstairs. He didn't care much though, it wasn't important.

He went to other sections of the bookshop and watched Aziraphale and Crowley for a while. Nothing much happened. They were obviously more than friends but no real information or proof could be gathered. In the end, he just started looking for the fly he had come with. They were a fly, which unfortunately meant they were very difficult to find, and he found he couldn't find them. They really hadn't thought this through. He was invisible, they were a fly. It was like the whole needle in a haystack scenario.

Maybe a different approach would be better. He made himself visible again, before opening and closing the door to make it seem like he'd just come in.

"Aziraphale?" He called out loudly, hoping Beelzebub would hear and take the hint.

"Ah, Gabriel, here for a second day in a row?" He replied, coming into the main area from the back. Gabriel was trying to find Beelzebub but maybe he needed to give them some time, as well as find out something more.

"Yes, well, I was just wondering, is the demon Crowley here?" He asked. Maybe he could make the angel nervous and observe some information from the reaction. The principality's eyes momentarily widened with surprise and panic.

"Oh, um, no, of course not, why would he be? He's a demon!" He stuttered nervously, lying badly. At least that showed he didn't want people knowing about Crowley's presence, meaning something else might be going on. "Why would you ever think that?" He asked, still unsettled.

"Oh, no reason." Gabriel replied, trying to calm him down a bit, he'd never been good at that. "Anyway, I'd better be off." He said, raising his voice hoping Beelzebub would hear. Luckily, the fly came and they left the shop together.

It was only 3pm and they had the rest of the day to themselves. "What should we do?" Beelzebub asked, starting to get annoyed at how wet the rain was making them.

"Dunno." Gabriel replied helpfully. He didn't want to go back to the hotel room because there was nothing to do there. "We should talk about what we found out."

"Yeah, can we get food?" Beelzebub asked. They weren't really hungry because they didn't actually need food, but they wanted it because they hadn't had it in a while.

"Whatever." Gabriel said. He knew Beelzebub and he knew there was no point arguing.

~~
They walked into a restaurant which they believed was quite a famous one; the Ritz.

"So," Gabriel started as he sat down, "did you find anything?"

"I went upstairz and there waz a double bed which waz messed up, and I could tell it had been uzed by both of them." They explained, buzzing with excitement. That was very useful information (no sarcasm intended). "How about you?"

"I found a book saying that Crowley was an Archangel before he fell and at the end when I was trying to get you before we left I asked him if Crowley was in the shop and he panicked and lied which means he might want them hiding. Doesn't sound interesting but why would he want me not to know the demon was there?" He tried to prove his point.

"Becauze he'z a demon, ztupid." Beelzebub pointed out.

"Well then we can just say, why was there a demon there? Besides the fact he was trying to hide it doesn't exactly make him look good." This time Beelzebub nodded.

"Whatever, anything elze?"

"No, don't think so. You?" Gabriel said. It was nice and casual, and he was enjoying getting to talk normally to Beelzebub without worrying people would overhear.

"Nope. Anyway how is Heaven?" Beelzebub started a conversation, that slowly drifted over to being constant flirting. However, it was rudely and very disappointingly interrupted.

"Table for two please." They heard a familiar voice say. Neither of them dared look round for fear of being spotted.

"Uh-huh" the chirpy waitress said, checking the computer screen thing to make sure a table wasn't reserved. "Lucky for you a table just cane free."

"What a miracle." A different voice they knew said sarcastically. Crowley and Aziraphale were here... and they were being seated right next to Gabriel and Beelzebub. Beelzebub sighed, annoyed and not hiding it. The next few seconds were probably going to be quite awkward.

Gabriel and Beelzebub stared at each other in silence, hoping that somehow they wouldn't be noticed. Unfortunately, miracles didn't work on other angels and demons. Beelzebub put their head down on the table like a teenager in a school. The new angel and demon (Aziraphale and Crowley) sat down, and had been casually talking, but the conversation came to a halt when they also realised.

A few minutes passed in the utterly most awkward, uncomfortable, embarrassing silence ever. Eventually (and I mean eventually) Beelzebub took their head off the desk and decided that something had to happen.

"We won't tell if you don't" they said, hoping with their entire life they would agree.

"Everyone already knows about us." Crowley pointed out. This was not good ground to be on.

"Fuck." They simply replied.

"Don't worry, we won't say anything, will we Crowley?" Aziraphale was literally an angel. Definitely a nicer one than Gabriel. Crowley just nodded like a small child being disciplined, or a rather annoyed child being badly told off and who doesn't care much as long as he gets presents for Christmas.

Gabriel just smiled politely. It was still awkward. "Good." Beelzebub stated, buzzing a lot. "We're going then." They said before storming out, hoping Gabriel would follow (he did, of course he did, but he did nod a little thanks before leaving with the fly).

They didn't really have a right to spy anymore so they just spent the rest of their time together before returning. And when they did return, they pretended they hadn't found anything and had an awkward meeting with Aziraphale and Crowley to make sure they wouldn't say anything.

(Beelzebub's meeting with Crowley went something along the lines of:

Crowley: Lord Beelzebub, hi, how's it going with snogging the Archangel
Beelzebub: Zzssshut up before I have you dizzzzzcorporated with holy water!
Crowley: you know what Gabriel would say if you did something like that
Beelzebub: zzshut up. I don't care what he'd zzzzay. (Lowering their voice) Don't tell anyone or you know the conzzzzequenzzezzz.
(Crowley chuckles at how much Beelzebub buzzes))
