Crowley had a brilliant idea. Well, in his mind it was brilliant anyways. Play a fun little prank on Aziraphale, give him a small habitat with some snake eggs in it and then make up some excuse about how he needs to go off somewhere for awhile.

In his mind, Aziraphale would snort and laugh a bit, and when he came back his angel would have that adorable smile across his face.

Well, that wasn't exactly the result he had gotten. He had failed to take into account that Aziraphale is guardian, and as such, can and will have paternal instincts towards the creatures that need a caretaker.

So, when he came back to the bookshop, there was Aziraphale. The angel was knitting in a chair beside a much larger habitat than the one he had given him prior. After a moment, he noticed him standing there in disbelief, "Oh! You're back!"

Crowley found his mouth opening and closing a few times before his voice returned to him. "What are you- what?"

The angel flushed, "Ah. Erm, well," he cleared his throat, eyes glancing down and away, suddenly a bit flustered with his actions now that Crowley was there to question them. "Well, I-uh they hatched, and I know snakes aren't supposed to get cold, so I decided to start knitting them some sweaters," he held up the progress on a small 'snake sweater', obviously very proud of himself.

"And well, I simply-" Aziraphale continued on talking, something about names, Crowley, however could not hear him. Questions raced through his head, why would he care so much? Well, he's an angel. Why is he so adorable? He's Aziraphale.

He felt tears prick at his eyes. He's so sweet, he wasn't supposed to take this seriously! Crowley tuned back into Aziraphale's speech, noticing the angel was pointing to the snake in a little yellow sweater, "Declan?" He asked.

Crowley's hands came up to cover his mouth as he let out quiet sobs. Aziraphale's eyes widened, "Crowley? My dear? What's the matter?" The angel stood walking closer to the sobbing demon. Gently, he took hold of Crowley's hands, pulling them away from his mouth, "Darling?" he asked, his voice inhumanly soft and sweet.

Crowley shook his head, "You're so sweet, Angel," he whispered, pulling Aziraphale close in a hug, which the angel returned immediately. "You're just so sweet." He repeated. Aziraphale's worry slowly subsided, replaced by a small giggle as he held his Crowley close. "Were you not expecting that reaction?" He asked, his voice still remaining hushed.

He only beamed when Crowley shook his head against his shoulder, which turned into a slight nuzzle against his neck.

"Angel?"

"Yes, my dear?"

"I love you."

"I love you too."
