I woke up to a bloodcurdling scream. It was my mother."Elle! Who is that strange man in your bed?"
She quickly ran over and pulled me out of Brian's grasp who was now shaking in the corner.
"Mom, that's Brian May."
"Brian who? Who is he, Elle? Don't make me grab the shotgun."
I saw Brian's face turn pale. He looked terrified.
"Mom, I have to talk to you about something." I grabbed her shoulder and led her out of the room so we could converse in private.
I told her about what had happened before the concert and how Brian came to the rescue.
"He's not a bad guy, mom. He's got a sweet and caring heart. Just give him a chance."
My mom didn't answer at first. She gave me a hug but then finally said,"well, I'm glad you're safe. I think you need to tell Cassie about this. He is her brother."
"And what about Brian?"
"He seems like a nice young man. But remember, Elle. You've just met him. I don't really trust him because-"
She stopped in her words when she saw Brian standing in the doorway. He had a disappointed look on his face. He came over to my mother and placed his hand on her shoulder.
"I assure you," he started in a low voice," that I will treat your daughter with the utmost respect. She is a beautiful young lady and she deserves only the best."
My mom only nodded and then got up and looked him straight in the eye. "You'd better, or else the worst will be coming your way."
"Ma'am, I'm not like your typical 'rock star' with drugs or groupies and such. If she's going to be my girl, I'm going to stay true to her and only her."
He paused a moment,"I must be going now. I've got to get back to the boys and get ready for our next gig. Is it alright is Elle tags along?"
"Fine.. But she'd better be back by midnight. And if you plan on staying the night, you're going to stay in different rooms, d'you hear me?"
He only nodded and then smirked as he grabbed my hand and we ran out the door. My mother was really letting me go with a man she barely knows. That's trust.
"Brian," I asked as we strolled down the walkway,"I need to go to my friend's house so I can straighten things out with her."
We got to Cassie's house and I knocked on the door. Her mother opened the door, and, instead of her usual "hello how are you", she quickly pulled me close and hugged me tight.
"Are you okay, Mrs. Johnson?" I asked, completely confused.
I heard Cassie's mom start to sniffle. She started to answer in slow muffled voice and stuttered through her words,"Elle, I'm so sorry."
"Sorry about what?"
"Thomas. I didn't know he was like that I just-"
I cut her off,"wait- how'd you find out?"
"He confessed everything to me. But don't worry. I think he's going to stay up in his room for the next five years."
"But why would he tell you what happened?"
I was so confused. Why would he do something like that and just come out clean?
"Well, maybe he felt guilty."
"Do you think I could, y'know, thank him?"
"Sure. Thomas? Get over here. Someone needs to talk to you. And you also owe that someone an apology."
Tom came over and looked very surprised to see me.
"I'm sorry, Elle, for all that, y'know, stuff. I just don't know what happened. Would you forgive me?"
Something strange was in his voice and the grimace on his face wasn't helping with his "apology". But I accepted it anyways. Maybe creepy was just his natural personality.
"I forgive you."
I gave him a hug and sent him on his way.
"So, Mrs. Johnson. Is Cassie home?"
"Sure. She's downstairs. Do you and your friend want to come in?"
"Um, sure. Brian?"
We both walked inside and waited for Cassie to come up. The expression on her face when she opened the door was priceless. She almost fainted.
"B-Brian May?" She asked.
"Yes, love? What's wrong?"
I walked over to Cassie and explained everything to her,"...and now Brian and I are kind of, well, y'know."
She looked back and forth at both of us, not saying a word. When she finally could talk again, all she said was one thing:"wow."
"Well, Elle," Brian interrupted,"we really must be going..."
"Can Cass come along?" I asked hesitantly.
"I suppose so,"
Cassie shrieked with excitement.
"as long as she doesn't do that ever again."
We all laughed and ran out the door.
"So," I started,"are we gonna walk there or is there a ride coming for us?"
"Oh wow," Brian covered his face with his hand,"I forgot to call. Guess we can take a bus."
We all sat down at the bus stop. People walked by taking double glances at Brian. Some recognized him right away and came over to talk and ask for photographs.
When the bus finally came, as soon as we stepped on there was a roar of cheers. Taking a closet look, every single person on the bus was wearing a Queen shirt. They were heading toward the concert.
"So," I leaned in and whispered,"great plan, huh?"
