We were having such a great time together, laughing and talking, playing music and singing. But then Brian pulled me aside, and started to talk, sounding very serious.

"Elle, I have to tell you something."

"Ok. What is it?"

"Sadly, Queen's tour here is drawing to an end. I can't stay here in America forever. I've very much enjoyed my time with you, and I want everything to work out. But I just don't know how."

I was quiet for a moment, trying to take in what he'd just said. I was a little distraught because I hadn't thought about him having to go back to England.

"I completely forgot about that. I don't even know how. I just wish you could stay. Or that I could come with you."

Brian's face brightened a little and he smiled at me.

"Maybe you could come back to England with me."

"Are you serious?"

"Yes, I am. You're very special to me and I couldn't bear a life without you."

"But I don't know if I could leave my friends and family here. England isn't exactly a neighbor to California."

I could see his smile fade away. He pulled me close and hugged me tight.

"I'd rather not think about it right now. We'll cross that bridge when we get there."

"Thank you," I replied,"I've got enough on my mind already."

----

We both went upstairs to my kitchen. My mom was sitting there sipping coffee and reading the newspaper. Brian went off somewhere, so I took some time to talk to her about England.

"Mom, he wants we to go back to England with him."

"What? That's very far away. I don't really like that idea..."

"Just hear me out, mom. I think he's the one for me. There's just something about him."

"But this is very huge, moving away from family and friends to go to a totally new country all the way across an ocean, thousands of miles away."

"I know mom, but-"

"Whatever makes you happy, Elle. You're an adult now, so make your own decisions."

I nodded and then walked out of the room. Brian greeted me again,"Elle, are you okay?"

"Yeah, I'm just deep in thought, I guess."

"Why don't we go take a walk to get our mind off of everything."

"That sounds perfect."

----

We walked around the neighborhood and into the small town near the area where I lived. We first went into the record store, of course.

"How about this one?" Brian asked as he pulled out a David Bowie album.

"I like it. But what about this?" I held up a Led Zeppelin album and waved it in the air. As much as I loved Queen, Led Zeppelin was probably one of my favorites, if not equal to my love for Queen.

"Let's just get both."

I nodded in agreement and we headed back out to the other shops. We walked around the stores looking for things we wanted to buy or try.

As soon as we were done there, we started to walk back home. Brian brought up that terrible conversation again.

"Do you even want to go to Emgland?"

"I really do,"I kind of mumbled because I didn't want to talk about this anymore.

"Sorry I brought that up again. I'm just concerned. I want you to do what you want."

"No, that's okay."

"But I just have to ask one more thing."

"What?"

"Do you have a passport."

My eyes widened. Oh, crap. I didn't. I never thought I'd need one. And of course, those things take months to be made. Just my luck.
