"Joon, help me out a little, won't you?"
Namjoon sighed to himself before he walked up to one of the twin babies and lifted him off the ground.
"Hey, kiddo..." he cooed and turned to Mina, "-what was his name, again?"
She chuckled and answered him. "He's Jiseob," she then pointed at the other boy in her hands and said, "-and this is Jiyong!"
"Okay, now this is gonna be fun!" He exclaimed, sarcastically and Mina chuckled.
Namjoon was shocked. He never expected his soulmate to be so good with kids.
Right now, Ara and Yoongi were out taking a walk in the park, leaving Namjoon and Mina to babysit the twins themselves.
The way her lips formed a smile as the two kids giggled and played around. Her long hair is usually left down but, now she had tied in a messy bun.
Every little detail of hers that Namjoon once hadn't noticed earlier was starting to stand out.
"Namjooniee!"
The way his name rolled out of her tongue like a daily mantra. Her sweet voice laced with it, and the fire she spits out when she raps her lines.
"Joon!"
The way she calls him by his nicknames so endearingly.
"YAHH! NAMJOONIEE PABO~YAH!!"
Namjoon abruptly gasped and pulled himself out of his trance. "What? What? Sorry, I spaced out for a minute," he apologized and saw Mina standing a few meters away with her hands on her hips.
"Yeah, like I couldn't tell!" She scoffed sarcastically. "Could you help me take all these things to the car? Their mom just called asking if we could drop them home for her," she explained and carried a few boxes while the boys flopped onto the couch, presumably tired from all the running around.
"Wait- but I don't have a driving license!" Namjoon yelled as he followed her out, carrying a few boxes.
"I know. I'm driving, silly! I need you to come with me, that's it. Oh, and please make sure you don't break any of that," she rolled her eyes, and he snickered nervously.
The ride there was comfortably silent except for the soft baby snores coming from the backseat. Namjoon had been staring outside the window, looking out while Mina drove in the silence.
Both seemed like they had something to say to each other, but for some reason, they hadn't uttered a word the whole time.
"Thank you so much for taking care of them, sweetheart. I hope they didn't bother you much," the mother of the twins, Mrs. Choi, chuckled almost ruefully.
"No, no, Mrs. Choi, of course not. They were the sweetest little angels all along," Mina smiled. The two of them then bowed to Mrs. Choi and drove back to Mina's house.
Once again, the previous silence came back, but this time it was almost unsettling.
Sensing the tension in the air, Namjoon turned on the music and turned up the volume a little bit. Mina looked confused, but she shrugged it off.
Once they reached the house, they were about to go in when Namjoon's phone vibrated in his pocket. Excusing himself from Mina, he answered it while she entered her residence.
Upon her entry, she saw that both Yoongi and Ara were on their phones, talking to someone. With a sigh, she strutted up the stairs and went to her bedroom.
A few minutes later, there was a knock on Mina's door. She asked them to come in without caring to look at who it was.
Namjoon slowly opened the door, revealing Mina lying on the bed, her hands flung across it. "Hey! Can I come in?"
"Oh. Hey, Joon." She greeted as she sat up straight and ruffled her hair a little. "What's up? Do you know who they're talking to?" She pointed to her door, but Namjoon understood who she meant.
"I think Ara's talking to Taehyun and hyung's talking to Jin hyung. It's only a guess, but it sure sounded like that," he answered. She hummed and then turned to him again.
"And who were you talking to?"
"Ohh..." he trailed off as he scratched the back of his neck, as though nervously. "My mom, she invited me to a party at their house tonight, but I'm not sure if I wanna go."
"Oh, a party for what?" Mina questioned, her eyes drooping a little in anguish.
"It's a company party, I think. Well, either way, I'm not going for it. I already told my mom that I'm busy with work," he sighed. "Besides, I..." he looked at her and rasped, "I need a date."
Their eyes met, and she hummed in understanding. And there was that awkward silence again as they looked away.
"So, w-what are y-you planning on doing for the rest of the day?" Namjoon asked her in hopes of lightening the mood.
"Oh, nothing much. I'll probably sit at home and binge-watch all the Jurassic Park movies again." The two of them chuckled, and Mina found herself staring at Namjoon's prominent dimples.
Namjoon caught her staring, and she cleared her throat as she looked away. "Y-yeah, that's that." She chuckled awkwardly, and he fiddled with his fingers.
After a while of contemplating in the awkward silence that filled the room, Namjoon spoke up.
"Mina..." he gulped as she looked up at him. "Will you be my date for the party, then?"
