Chapter Ten
a/n: WE MADE IT TO CHAPTER TEN (farther than most my books, this is a good thing guys!) We should have a celebration or something. Anybody got mallowmelt?
This chapter is three months later. Gotta speed this up. It's just a filler chapter though.
"Slow down, slow down!" Sophie laughed at Ashla, who was speaking really fast, even for an elf.
"Fitz and I kissed!" She shouted, a shriek of happiness coming afterwards. She fell backwards on Sophie's bed, a huge grin on her face. "He's really good at it, too!"
"I think every guy is a good kisser, just only with the girl meant to kiss him," Biana said with a soft sigh. "Because I was talking to Pace and she said Dex was a really bad kisser, but-"
"YOU KISSED DEX!" Sophie shouted, eyes wide. "WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME?"
Biana grinned. "Because not everybody is open about how much they've kissed their boyfriend. Thirty-four now, right?"
"Thirty-eight but that's beside the point. Dex told me you guys never kissed." She glared, taking out her Imparter. "You guys shh, I'm going to call him and ask him."
Ashla moved towards Biana clasped her hand over Biana's mouth to silence her protests. "Hey, Dex!" Sophie chirped when he answered.
"Hey, I thought you were hanging out with Ashla and Biana today," he greeted with a frown. "Biana told me."
"Ah, yes, Biana. Let's talk about her."
"What about her?"
"Have you two kissed yet?" She narrowed her eyes.
He bit his lip, his cheeks flaming red. "Uh, gotta go. Bye Sophie!"
He hung up on her.
"That idiot!" Sophie sighed.
"He's embarrassed about me, isn't he?" Biana sighed. "I knew it."
"No, he isn't," Sophie assured. "He's just embarrassed to admit private information like your kissing. If he's embarrassed to admit it that means he probably liked it. Especially since he wouldn't tell me. And I'm his best friend."
Biana nodded. "You think he liked it?" She bit her lip to hold back a smile. "I've never been nervous about a guy before and here I am nervous about Dex of all people. Dex."
"Well, he's no Fitz but he's hot," Ashla said.
"He's no Keefe either," Sophie said, grinning. "But I mean, I did wear his ring for a while."
"I forgot about that ring!" Biana squealed. "Do you think he'd ever get me something like that?" She looked at Sophie with raised eyebrows.
"I think he'd give you a different even better ring one day," Sophie said with a sincere smile. "I think all three of us found our keepers."
"Speaking of keepers, are you gonna do it?" Biana looked at her with anxious eyes.
She shook her head. "They still haven't offered."
"But Bronte is on the council!"
"So?"
"Aren't you guys, like, best friends?" Ashla asked, brushing a finger through her own hair.
Sophie rolled her eyes. "He was my mentor for years. Aren't you close with your old flasher mentor?"
"Yeah but. . . He's not Bronte! Then again you're also close with your telepathy mentor. And your polygot teacher who's name I forgot." Ashla shrugged. "Both of them creep me out."
"Everyone creeps you out, Ashla," Biana teased, grinning.
Ashla playfully glared. "No, I'm not scared of you or Sophie. Well, maybe Sophie but not for the reason you'd think."
"What about me scares you?" Sophie asked, a frown on her face.
"Fitz really liked you. Like, on our first date he made it clear that he liked you. Then we went on a second and third date and he said that he thought that he was starting to like me more than you, then you started dating Keefe and he said that he was ready to fully commit to me but. . . There's still that feeling, you know? That he'll leave me because of you." She shrugged. "If you weren't with Keefe I'd think you do the same for him."
Biana shook her head, answering instead of Sophie, "No, he would never do that. Fitz told me he really likes you, so he won't leave you for Sophie. Plus, it would be stupid even for him."
"What do you mean?" Ashla asked.
"Why would he leave his first choice for a girl completely in love with someone else?" Biana shrugged. "Logic."
"Well, not completely in love-"
"Oh you hush, it's so obvious!" Biana cut Sophie off.
"No. How can I be in love with him when I can't even say I love him. I mean. . . I really like him. Really like him. I love that he's an awesome kisser. And I love that his hair is just so perfect. I love that his face is perfect. I love how he's got muscles even though I've never seen him workout. I-"
"So you're naming things you love about him, but you won't say you love him himself?" Biana raised her eyebrow. "Come on Sophie!"
"Well, I made the first move so that means the first one to admit their love should be him," she said in a defensive tone, folding her arms.
"So you admit you love him?"
"Well yeah bu-"
"EDALINE YOUR DAUGHTER JUST ADMI- MPHMM!" Sophie slapped her hand over Biana's mouth, cutting her off.
She cut in, mimicking Biana's voice, "NEVER MIND, YOU CAN GO BACK TO WHAT YOU WERE DOING!"
"I hate you," Biana told Sophie when she released her.
"You love me."
"Just like you love Keefe." Sophie glared. "Oh don't you glare, you walked straight into that one."
"You really did," Ashla cut in. "Now, back to gossiping. Did you hear Stina went on crazy rampage at Atlantis and trashed a store?"
"What?" Sophie gasped. "She's an adult now, why is she acting like she's nine?"
"Because her boyfriend, the only boyfriend she was ever able to get, broke up with her and proposed to another girl."
"Holy shniztle," Sophie said, gasping. "Wait- Isn't Cael her boyfriend?"
"Yeah, he proposed to Marella."
"Marella?" Sophie's eyes widened. "Did she say yes?"
"This is Marella we're talking about. What's the one thing she loves more than gossip?" Ashla raised a brow.
"Hating Stina," Biana answered. "Like when we were younger and she pretended to hate Sophie to get Stina to trust her enough to share secrets and she told the entire school."
Sophie shuddered. "I try not to remember those days."
"Yeah, I forgot you guys joined the black swan," Ashla muttered. "What was it like?"
"We don't like talking about the subject." Sophie said, sending Biana a warning glare.
"What happens at the black swan stays in the black swan," Biana said, shrugging. "We can't tell you."
Ashla nodded. "Yeah. . . So anyways, the council is telling what her punishment is next week and I heard they're thinking of bringing in one of Stina's bully victims and having that person help decide."
"Oh I hope it's Sophie," Biana comments. "It probably will be."
"Why?"
"The council loves you. . . And you hate Stina with passion," Biana explained. "It's a win-win. Maybe you could talk about becoming a keeper, too."
Sophie shrugged. "Aren't we supposed to be adults or some crap?"
"Some crap."
