1. Teddy Gets Accepted

*Cody's P.O.V*

It was that exciting time of year, a few days before Christmas and everyone was helping with the finishing touches to decorate the house. Gabe and I were sat on the couch, looking through the box of Christmas decorations while mom was decorating the tree, with the help of Pj, who had Charlie on his hip as she helped as well.

"Oh, no, no, no. Charlie, honey, look. If you do it one strand at a time, it's prettier, see?" Mom tried to teach Charlie how to put the tinsel on properly.

"Whatever." Charlie said, throwing a clump of tinsel on the tree randomly.

"Forget it Mom, Charlie with tinsel is like Dad with spaghetti; pretty just ain't gonna happen." Gabe said, as Dad walked in with more decorations. I laughed and high-fived Gabe.

"Yeah, well, you..." Dad pointed at Gabe, trying to think of a good comeback but failing, "This isn't over." He mumbled, walking over to hang up some lights by the door.

"Honey, I've got a million things to do this week, so I need you to take Charlie to see Santa." Mom told Dad.

"Sure." Dad said, clearly not listening.

"What did I just say?" Mom asked, narrowing her eyes at him.

"I...have no idea. Honey, I'm trying to think of a good comeback for Gabe!" He defended.

"Again, I need you to take Charlie to see Santa and you have got to find out what present she wants the most." Mom repeated.

"Okay, got it. Charlie, present, Santa." Dad nodded.

"Three words, that's all you heard?" Mom asked in annoyance.

"Well, that's two more than I usually hear!" Dad exclaimed, as Teddy ran in with her laptop.

"Guys, guess what? I just got accepted into NYU!" She grinned. We all cheered and congratulated her.

"What are you guys talking about?" Charlie asked, looking up at us innocently.

"Charlie, I know this might be sad, but Teddy's going to be going off to college soon." Mum said softly, expecting Charlie to be upset.

"Can I have your room?" Charlie asked bluntly.

"Nice try, little sis, but I'm getting Teddy's room." I said firmly. If anyone deserves Teddy's room, it's me considering I've had to share a room with Charlie for the past four years. Do you have any idea haw annoying it is to have princesses and teddies covering half the room?!

"So, NYU wants an answer right away," Teddy continued, "But how can I make a decision when I haven't actually seen the place?"

"Teddy, it's Christmas time, we can't just drop everything and take you to New York." Mom said.

"Yeah, and we're not going to let you fly across the country by yourself." Dad added.

"Too bad there isn't another adult who can go with her." Pj said.

"You're an adult." Mum pointed out.

"I am? Oh yeah, I guess I am." He laughed. I rolled my eyes. I act more mature than he does sometimes. Okay, that's a lie but he's still the most childish adult I've ever known.

"So, I can go if Pj goes with me?" Teddy asked.

"Yeah, I guess that would be okay." Mom agreed, "But your job is to keep an eye on her." She told Pj sternly.

"Oh, and the thing is, the last campus tour I can book is on Christmas Eve." Teddy informed us.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa, you guys are gonna be gone on Christmas Eve?!" Gabe yelled, standing up abruptly.

"It's okay, we'll be back for Christmas." Teddy assured him.

"Pj, you're still going to make us Christmas dinner before you go, right? You'll do that for us, right?" Gabe asked.

"Gabe, honey, don't be ridiculous. Why should he make it, freeze it, thaw it and reheat it when I can just make Christmas dinner?" Mom said.

"You'll do that for us, right?!" Gabe asked Pj more desperately, not wanting Mom's cooking to ruin the Christmas dinner. Mom looked rather offended.

Later that day, I went into Teddy's room while she was packing for New York.

"Hey, Cody." Teddy smiled at me.

"Hey, Teddy..." I sang.

"What do you want?" She narrowed her eyes at me.

"You know how you and Pj are going to New York?" I started.

"Yeah...?" She said, still suspicious.

"Well, surely the trip would be more fun if you had the company of your adorable little sister, right?" I grinned innocently.

"Does Charlie want to come?" Teddy smirked, knowing that's not what I meant. I glared at her.

"Let me come to New York with you and Pj!" I finally blurted.

"I don't know, Cody..." She trailed off.

"Please, Teddy! New York is one of my favourite cities in the world and I want to go before I get too old!" I begged. Teddy stopped folding her clothes and looked at me pointedly.

"Cody, you're only twelve years old." She said.

"Almost thirteen!" I argued, "Please let me come, Teddy. I won't cause any trouble, you'll barely even know I'm there!"

"You'll have to talk to Mom." She told me, warming up to the idea.

"And if she says yes, I can come with you?" I asked hopefully.

"Yeah, I guess." She finally gave in, smiling at me.

"Yes! Thank you, Teddy!" I squealed, giving her a hug before running out of her room. "Mom!" I yelled, walking upstairs and into the kitchen, where Mom was preparing dinner. It took a lot of convincing and at first she was completely against it, but then Pj walked in and he liked the idea of me coming along to New York, so he helped me persuade Mom and eventually, she agreed to let me go, as long as Pj and Teddy didn't let me out of their sight. Needless to say, I was very excited.
