as promised, the group set out a plan to go late night bowling. the guys were first to show up to the place, the girls spending too much time getting ready and listening to ren complain about how awkward it was going to be for her, and how she made it a goal to completely ignore jeno the whole night.
when they arrived, they spotted the seven boys waiting just outside for them so they could go inside together. they quickly said hellos before entering. haechan was quick to walk to yuns side, to which she laughed lightly at the way he seemed excited to see her.
"i can't wait to completely obliterate you in bowling," the boy said to her, keeping his eyes straight ahead with a cocky smirk plastered on his lips.
yun scoffed. "you're gonna regret saying that."
haechan just raised his eyebrows without saying anything when they approached their bowling aisle. danbi and chenle were the first pair to grab their bowling shoes, the others watching as they cutely laughed together about whatever it was they chatted about. ren was starting to feel awkward, as she expected, so she walked over to yun and haechan.
yun watched as her friend practically clung onto her, not bothered by it as they were each others person to go to when they were feeling nervous. danbi never had this problem, she was way too social and confident and it was truly admirable. the trio waited for everyone to grab their shoes, then they did, and they were all ready for intense bowling.
"alright, who's up?" mark announced. chenle took this as an opportunity to practically throw jisung to the lane. they decided that he'd be first to go, cheering loudly for the boy as he grinned shyly and picked up a bowling ball.
"let's go jisung!" jeno cheered passionately. jisung took in a short breath, slightly cocking his head to the side, getting ready to go. it took him a minute to get his position right, but he eventually went for it. to all of their surprise, he scored a strike his first try.
his mouth dropped open as everyone gasped before clapping and cheering. he excitedly turned to the group, pointing at the lane, shocked at his own ability.
"did you see that?!" he questioned, even though the whole group was cheering for him.
"there is literally nothing this kid can't do, i swear," haechan said, earning laughs from the others.
"okay, who's next? should we do youngest to oldest?" renjun suggested. no one objected to the idea, so chenle was next to go up.
mark quickly shook the boys shoulders, hyping him up for his turn. chenle got up with his usual eye smile on his face, rolling up his sleeves confidently before grabbing a bowling ball. unlike jisung, he wasted no time throwing the ball to knock down almost all pins, leaving only two left. he sucked his teeth before grabbing the ball again, and knocking down only one.
"nice try, buddy," jisung teased, everyone laughing as chenle gently shoved the boy.
"he was so confident." mark laughed.
"hey, he did good," danbi scolded, everyone cooing at how quickly chenles cheeks turned red at how she came to his defense.
"okay wait, when are y'alls birthdays?" renjun asked the three girls.
"i'm a halloween baby," yun bragged, feeling proud of the fact that she was born on halloween since a small child, "danbis is march 10th, and rens is may 13th."
"i knew you were a witch," haechan playfully mumbled after hearing yuns birthday, which earned him a slap on his head from her. "ouch. but you're up, third youngest."
yun got up and brushed off her pants as she made her way to the lane. she was arguably terrible at bowling, which is mainly why she hated it so much. it was only fun to her when she's drunk, that way she at least has an excuse as to why she's so bad at it. she grabbed a pink bowling ball, because she thought it was pretty, and got ready to bowl.
she spent at least a whole 30 seconds preparing to completely embarrass herself by showing off her awful bowling skills. then finally, she went. she'd even crossed her fingers just for the ball to swerve off to the side and not knock down any pins. her jaw dropped open dramatically, even though she knew exactly what was going to happen.
haechan and ren were absolutely losing it at the loss, their heads flinging back in laughter. the others couldn't help but laugh at her reaction as she took a walk of shame back to her seat.
"you did great yun!" danbi cheered, jisung even getting up to high five her to make her feel even a tiny bit accomplished. when ren and haechan still didn't stop laughing even when everyone else wasn't, she quickly got irritated and moved to sit between danbi and jaemin.
"i hate cackling bitches." she mumbled, mainly to herself, but jaemin heard and lightly chuckled. after realizing he was next, he got up.
he didn't look confident nor unconfident, just a small grin over his lips as he grabbed a bowling ball. with no hesitation, he took his turn and everyone watched as he knocked down just two pins. he turned to laugh, watching as the group shook their heads in frustration. he then went again and knocked down another two pins.
"this motherfucker didn't even try," haechan shouted, earning laughs. turns out jaemin was clearly not the most competitive person.
everyone else took their turns one by one until the game was over. this went on for another 2 hours, and then jisung started complaining that his feet were hurting, and that's when everyone decided to call it a night.
"i'm so hungry." mark mumbled, holding his stomach as they walked out of the bowling alley. "who's down for food?"
although everyone was tired and had sore feet, they weren't about to pass up food. so, they quickly looked online for a random diner that was open 24/7 and headed out. since it was just down the street from the bowling alley, they decided to walk together. they walked and talked and laughed about the most random things. people who sat outside watched the loud group pass by.
"this was fun, wasn't it?" yun asked ren as they walked hand in hand together.
ren nodded, not even attempting to deny the fact. neither of them thought they'd have as much as they did. haechan walked between the two, comfortably swinging his arms over each of their shoulders. yun groaned when she felt him cling to her, not having the energy to remove his arm so they stayed like that.
"i'm so glad we did this." he beamed. the two girls couldn't help but laugh at the goofy smile on his face. from watching him cling to everyone he possibly could all night, it didn't take long for them to realize that haechan was just simply a touchy person.
the ten of them finally approached the diner, walking in with cool air hugging them. there luckily was almost no one sat inside, and they didn't have to worry about disturbing anyones late meals by being too loud.
an older women smiled when she watched the group of young adults walk in laughing as she headed up to them.
"looks like you guys had a fun night," she commented, the others nodding in agreement. "feel free to seat yourselves and i'll be with you in a second."
she sent another friendly smile before walking away, allowing the group to find the biggest table and seat themselves. "that lady is so nice." danbi said to chenle as they sat down next to each other.
once they were all seated comfortably, the woman came back around with menus. "i just love seeing young people have fun, you know? but anyways, what can i get you to drink?"
they went around in a circle and gave their drink orders to her, then she let them know she'd give them some time to think about what they wanted to eat before walking away. yun was sat on the end of the table, next to mark, while they shared a menu because they weren't given enough for everyone to have their own.
there were so many side conversations going on, as there were so many people that it was impossible for them to have one big conversation without them talking over each other.
"what are you getting?" mark asked yun when he couldn't decide what he wanted. the girl thought for a moment before pointing to a random item on the menu.
"ooh, you got good taste," mark nodded, satisfied with her decision, "i'll get it too."
"shouldn't we be talking as a group?" haechan suddenly announced, grabbing everyones attention from their own conversations.
"you just want all the attention." jisung replied back. he totally didn't mean it in a negative way, but everyone went 'oo' playfully, which resulted in him cutely shaking his head and waving his hands that he didn't even mean it that way.
"you know what, you're right. i do." haechan said back proudly. "everyone eyes on me."
"anyways," renjun then interrupted him, taking away the attention the boy craved oh so much. "we literally don't know anything about yun, or ren, or danbi, so tell us about yourselves."
"i know everything about yun, we're besties," haechan joked, yun rolling her eyes playfully.
"um, i guess i'll go first. y'all already know what i was like in high school, we don't have to go there, but i major in business now. i'm not a big people person, which is weird because i love parties. yeah. i can't think of anything else."
danbi laughed, "she hates talking about herself."
"i'm a business major too!" chenle shouted, yuns eyebrows perking up in surprise. "it sucks, doesn't it?"
"it seriously does. danbis turn!"
the attention shifted on danbi as she straightened her back and confidently got ready to talk about herself. "okay, i major in cosmetology. i love doing hair and makeup. i also really like puzzles."
everyone laughed at the way she said she likes puzzles, finding it really cute and really random. danbi was just that type of person that no matter what they say, it's always adorable. they nodded in understanding, and then their eyes went to ren.
"ah fuck," she cursed, forgetting that she was included, "i major nursing, and... yeah i don't know. i like to get drunk."
she shrugged, saying the first thing that came to mind as she had no idea what else to say. everyone laughed, enjoying how nonchalant she was. they moved onto another topic, finding themselves get completely immersed in whatever it was they were talking about.
after telling their nice waitress their orders, their food eventually arrived and they both ate and talked. in other words, they were all having a really good time.
