chenle was nowhere near lying when he told danbi the neos threw the best parties. throughout the entire day, yun couldn't stop hearing people talking about how excited they were for it. as quickly learned about her, she loves her a good party and she was admittedly looking forward to it.
danbi was out with chenle for the day after the two finished their classes, while yun got ready in her dorm and invited ren to get ready with her so she wasn't alone.
"when are chenle and danbi gonna admit they still like each other?" yun told her as brushed eyeshadow on her eye.
"it's getting sick how much time they've been spending together," ren agreed from danbis bed, where she was doing her own makeup.
yun saw her phone light up with a message next to her. it was from hyunjin, who she'd been avoiding for the past two days. she was unbelievably conflicted about her feelings towards him, she panicked and has been ignoring him for two days straight. she prayed he wasn't gonna be at the party, but couldn't guarantee it.
they sat in silence with faint music playing, yun taking another hit front her bowl. she'd never in her life felt nervous to go to a party, but this one had a huge reputation. she quickly finished up her makeup and stood up, already dressed in a simple black dress.
"i feel too... classy to get shitfaced tonight," yun said as she looked at herself in a full-length mirror, earning a snicker from ren.
the girls phone lit up, showing a message from danbi saying that she was outside the building. "our queen is here."
the two wasted no time grabbing their things, slipping on shoes, and leaving the dorm building. the sun was just about setting as they walked to danbis car, getting in the backseats as chenle sat in the passengers side.
"hey lovebirds," ren greeted, shutting the car door.
chenles face lit up at the name while danbi just grinned and shook her head. they were so obvious it almost hurt. the girl finally drove off, chenle happily giving her directions to the place the party took place.
they were eventually off campus, pulling up to a huge house. none of them were expecting a place so big, but seeing as so many people would be there, it also made sense. danbi parked her car and the four of them quickly stepped out.
as they stepped inside the literal mansion, there was already a small fog of smoke from multiple different corners of the house having rotations. there was the smell of that along with alcohol mixed in, and sweaty bodies pushing passed each other. chenle spotted his friends amongst the crowd, having the three girls follow him.
he gave them all bro handshake hugs as their eyes landed on the trio. "i'm glad you guys came!" mark said, remembering the conversation they had just a few days ago. yun nodded awkwardly. jeno had for some reason brought an entire case of beer, even though there was plenty at the party, holding it up and offering it to everyone. they accepted, cracking them open and sipping on them together.
not only were there plenty of different alcoholic beverages, there were also snacks. the alcohol was normal of course, but the snacks were kind of unusual for a messy college party. yun guessed these guys were really just trying to keep the reputation of having the best parties.
ren and yun were practically stuck together at the hip, feeling too embarrassed to go dance when the guys they constantly talked about in their groupchat stood just in front of them.
"so, do you guys know any of the neos?" danbi asked, trying to spark conversation.
"not really, i mean we've met some of them briefly and they seemed cool." mark replied, sipping on his beer.
"i don't know if it's just me, but y'all have major neo energy." ren spoke up.
jeno snickered, "do we?"
"well, from what i hear, and the picture i saw... yeah. you do." ren smirked, confident in her opinion.
they continued on with small talk, yun still stood there, quiet with occasional laughes and nods of agreement while she drank her can of beer. danbi made sure to give her reassuring glances and hold her hand to make her feel comfortable. it's not that she wasn't, she just had this continuing fear that every single person from her highschool that weren't danbi or yun made fun of her.
jaemin couldn't help but notice how quiet she was, and got ready to ask about her thoughts on whatever it was they were talking about until someone came over to the group.
"hey, i know you!" the guy beamed, flinging his arm over marks shoulder. "welcome to the party, help yourselves to whatever's in the fridge and on the table. names jungwoo, i'm a neo, by the way."
"oh shit, we did meet, didn't we?" mark chuckled, "this is a sick party."
jungwoo excitedly thanked him before walking off when he heard someone calling his name. the girls couldn't believe how godly the neos were, from the pictures, to seeing one of them face to face, it was no wonder they were favorited.
ren cleared her throat, "anywho, nice talk, but i'm ready to have some real fun. see you later. text me if you need anything, bi." danbi squeezed her hand one last time before ren dragged yun away.
"quiet tonight, are we?" the girl asked as they walked to where other people were dancing.
yun shrugged. "i'm still icky about how two of them called me... you know what, and i just don't trust people from our school."
"i get it," ren nodded, "but you know not everyones out to get you, and if they pull some weird shit, i'll kick their asses."
yun laughed as she followed ren in swaying her body to the music. they did this for a while, yun eventually getting comfortable enough that she stopped caring if anyone around her was looking.
when both of their cans were empty, they decided to go to the kitchen to grab something else.
"cheese... and crackers... at a college party," yun chuckled in disbelief, but found herself munching on a cracker or two. ren had found two shot glasses and decided on taking a few.
their faces twisted in disgust as the liquid burned down their throats. "fuck." yun was paying no mind as she poured herself another shot straight after the first one, feeling ren nudge her just before she drank it. her eyes shot up, seeing lee haechan approaching them.
he stopped at the other side of the island table, leaning his elbows against it. "shots? rough night?"
so much for showing her what shes missing, haechan.
yun just looked at him as she downed another shot, finally feeling the alcohol hit just the slightest.
"yeah? wanna join?" she asked, pushing the bottle to him slightly.
his eyes flickered from the bottle and then back to her before speaking up. "no, i'm trying to redeem myself."
yuns eyebrows perked up, her and ren glancing at each other before ren slowly slid away from the two, leaving them alone in the small space. when yuns eyes left her friend, she looked at haechan curiously.
"as you were saying?"
haechan let out a light chuckle, suddenly feeling intimidated by her. he never felt intimated, never by people. "my texts, yeah. i'm still embarrassed so i won't explain further, however, i am still sorry for calling you that name."
he looked sincere, sounded sincere, was sincere. yun could see it, but there was always that little voice in the back of her head telling her he was joking and was dared to say this to her, or something stupid. luckily, this time, the fact that she had alcohol in her system was helping a little more and she found herself not caring as much.
"it's cool. you and your friends seem nice. i'm not mad." she admitted, her voice low.
"are you sure? or is that the alcohol talking?" the boy playfully asked, making a small grin form on her lips.
"alright, if you really wanna redeem yourself, take shots with me." she offered, grabbing another plastic shot cup and handing it to him. she allowed him to think about, not pushing him, and when he didn't say anything but grabbed the bottle and poured it into their cups, she smiled.
soon enough the two had taken enough shots to the point where they were definitely drunk. they could hardly stand up straight and their words were slightly slurred, and when ren came over after not drinking since her first two shots, she was awfully confused. more happy than anything to see her friend socializing comfortably.
"what, are you guys best friends now?" she laughed, seeing them now standing at the same side of the table together.
"i don't hate a man for once!" yun exclaimed, overly happy.
the three of them went back to the rest of the group, where most of them were dancing and the others remained sat on a couch talking casually amongst themselves. chenle somehow convinced danbi to dance, when she didn't really like doing so, and they all found it adorable the way their smiles could not leave their faces.
"they're so cute," yun muttered to ren, "i want to get laid right now."
ren couldn't help but laugh at the dramatic change in direction the sentence went. "why do you always get sexual when you're drunk?"
yun giggled and shrugged. "no clue."
