it was only after the first day of family therapy when yuns mother realized she hadn't been the best mother whatsoever. yun spilled everything in one go because she'd been holding it in for so long, and once asked if she had anything to say, words started flowing out like vomit.

then finally, her parents began to try harder to actually be parents and though it wasn't perfect, it was appreciated.

now yun had nothing left to do but wait for her friends to arrive home from campus. already bored and impatient, she felt as if the time was going by much slower than usual until the first car pulled in.

the girls feet ran out of the door and down the pavement to danbis car that held her, ren, and chenle. the first thing she did was wrap her arms around danbi the second she was out of the car, before moving into ren and taking a second to ruffle chenles hair.

"the fact that you came to my house instead of your own first is crazy," yun said.

"my parents can wait," the other waved off, "as if i don't spend most of my days on facetime with them."

"they know about chenle, right?" ren asked.

danbi hunmed, "they were the second to know when we got back together. you two were first, of course."

yun couldn't think of any reason why danbis parents wouldn't know about chenle, considering he was one of the most polite and well-mannered people she's ever met, and danbis parents quickly fell for him themselves. to her it was absolutely adorable how much the others families adored each other, and she hoped her own would feel that way about renjun in the future.

not wanting to spend anymore time alone, yun went home with ren to help her unpack and say hello to her parents until the others arrived. once they did, they spent a few hours with their own families before meeting up at rens.

it was the first time yun was seeing renjun after their confessions and she was easily so much more nervous than she should've been. she never thought it be him making her nervous, but there she was, flatting out her hair and checking her teeth to ensure nothing was stuck in them, all to want to look pretty for renjun.

it seemed as if haechan noticed, and for a second he was sure all the fidgeting was for jaemin. "what's up with you?"

"hm? nothing, why?"

the too quick of an answer gave her away. "trying to look good for someone?"

shit, he's noticed. "no. why do you ask that?"

"you have touched your hair like fifty times in the span of thirty seconds and your posture is disturbingly decent... very unlike you."

"...what are you trying to say, lee haechan?"

"that your posture is awful. you usual are built like the letter C."

the nerves flew away for a split second while yun slapped the boy on his arm. "fuck you? my posture is perfect."

"yeah... definitely. are you wearing makeup? seriously, who are you trying to impress?" haechans hand reached out to swipe off her lightly filled in eyebrows but she luckily beat him to it. "is it jaemin?!"

"no, it's not jaemin," something in her felt guilty, "it's renjun."

"what?! you... what? since when?!"

"since like, yesterday. don't talk about it i'm embarrassed."

"you should be, because first of all, what the fuck, and second of all, i'm never gonna shut up about this," he seemed scarily genuine, "how did this happen?"

yun should've expected him to keep asking about it after she said she didn't want to talk about it. "i don't know, we just got close while i was away and i guess he's liked me for a while now."

"so you like him too?"

still avoiding eye contact with the boy, she hummed in agreement and turned her head away from him. he then hummed back, this time in understanding. "that's unexpected."

"are you mad?"

"me? no," he laughed as if he couldn't believe she'd just asked that, "am i jealous? duh, but i'm just glad it's someone who has their shit figured out because i obviously don't, and i'm sorry for putting you through all of that."

"i'm sorry too, we were both really stupid. i've just never been in a relationship before and everything was so confusing."

"i get you, and i forgive you," he nodded sincerely before looking back for a split second, "and i think renjun just walked in."

the sentimental moment quickly turned into a panic as yun went back to fix her hair for the fifty-first time, feeling grateful her back was turned to the door so she could pretend she didn't see him. the reactions from the others confirmed his arrival, and his voice was the cherry on top to her anxiety.

when haechan realized what she was doing, he held a laugh and nudged her arm. "you and jisung... weirdos, seriously."

the girl didn't get a chance to glare and curse at him when renjun approached them after greeting everyone else in the room. her eyes gazed up to his, smiling awkwardly as if she wasn't just pretending he wasn't there.

"am i interrupting something...?" he asked when the atmosphere between then became quiet after he arrived.

"nope, not at all, i'm going this way. bye." haechan quickly responded, getting up and walking to wherever jisung was.

renjun sat where haechan sat, beside yun. "were you talking about me?"

knowing she couldn't lie, yun nodded. "yep."

"is he mad, or...?"

"no, he's not mad. or at least he said he's not. i hope he's not, i don't want anyone to be mad at us," more worried for causing tension among the friend group, yun tried to take haechans word for it.

"they won't, don't worry about that," the boy replied, "i can't help who i like, neither can you. they wanted you to be with someone who was gonna give you everything they couldn't, so here i am."

yun felt her shoulders drop in relief, butterflies erupted in her stomach when renjun got closer to nudge her playfully, a small smile playing at his lips and she couldn't help one of her own. "thanks babe."

"anytime babe. did you eat yet, babe?"

the girl laughed when he caught on. "not yet, babe. but i'm hungry and i wanna eat, not gonna lie."

"alright, come on," his hands delicately found hers as the two jumped up from their seats, her fingers tying around two of his comfortably. such a small gesture that had her heart pounding.

then she knew this was what she was missing, she never got butterflies from little things with anyone else, and it wasn't that she didn't like them. there was still a gap that hadn't been filled until renjun came into the picture, and she was finally happy enough with herself to fall in love with someone else.
