the day of the competition had finally rolled around and most of it was spent with jisung venting his anxiety in the groupchat, and yun avoiding it at all costs to ensure her arrival would remain a surprise.

renjun offered to pick her up and bring her and not wanting to pay an expensive uber ride, she accepted. they had a comfortably silent roadtrip of three and a half hours, arriving to campus hours before the show.

"i don't wanna leave jisung alone any longer so i'm gonna go home," renjun explained, yun already unbuckling her seat belt.

she nodded and grinned. "that's okay, thanks for the ride!" and she was out the door running up to the dorms, excited to see her friends.

the familiar walls engulfed her as she ran into the halls once past the door, her feet moving before her mind because the way to danbi and hers dorm was engraved into her brain to the point where it was just muscle memory. her smile grew larger as she approached, lifting her hand and knocking on the door.

she could hear danbi shuffling around, hearing papers and yun figured she'd probably been making a mess of homework. it wasn't long until footsteps were heard and danbi swung the door open. confusion and stress turned into shock and soon turned into happiness when danbi realized who was on the other side.

"yun!" she called out, pulling her into a hug so tight you'd think they hadn't seen each other in years. "you're here~"

yun hummed and they swayed back and forth in their hug before letting each other go. "i wanted it to be a surprise, so don't tell anyone else, okay?"

"of course, of course. god, jisungs gonna flip. i've never seen the kid so stressed." danbi sighed as she thought about his stressful spam in the groupchat earlier that day, moving aside to let yun into the dorm.

"i felt too bad if i didn't come," the other admitted, "it seems so important to him and haechan and i mean, i really couldn't go the full four months without seeing any of you."

danbi smiled wide and practically squealed, excited to not have had to went the full four months either. "let's go see ren!"

when it was finally time to get ready for the show, haechan and jisung had given up on waiting for the message that yun was going to be able to make it. it was hard for her, seeing them continuously ask where she was and not allowing herself to respond, but she knew the reaction would be hilarious when they found out she was there the whole time.

the friend group arrived much earlier than everyone else, making sure to get good seats around each other because there was so many of them. the three girls took the ride together and mark and jaemin had already been there.

much like danbi, marks eyes lit up at the sight of the girl, turning fully to give her a hug. "i missed you!"

"i missed you too," yun replied, trying to ignore the jaemins overwhelming presence once they'd let go. however, it would've been rude not to greet him as well and it was obvious that they both wanted to say something to each other.

luckily the sound of music was loud enough to cover the awkward silence, but it couldn't mask the tension. "you okay?" jaemin asked, cracking a smile over a light chuckle to ease the energy.

her hand subconsciously found his and he squeezed reassuringly. "never better."

"good, i'm glad you're here," he nodded, "let's go sit down, guys, before the place fills up."

the small group eventually became bigger until everyone had sat down together, talking comfortably until the main lights dimmed and a host walked out on stage.

the place wasn't too big, but definitely enough to have formed a large crowd, and large enough to have all dance teams trembling. excitement was felt everywhere when the host explained what they were going to see and announced the first team, a school that wasn't familiar but the group also didn't care all that much. the first two performances were almost blurred out completely until it was their own schools time.

"everyone give a warm welcome to the ncit dance crew," he called estatically, the friend group not wasting a second cheering for the team and especially when haechan and jisung came out.

despite the nerves, jisung walked out with a huge smile and his big hands greeted the happy crowd. it was like the anxiety disappeared or he was just really good at hiding it and either way, yun cheered them on like her life depended on it.

by the end of it they were all glistening in a thin layer of sweat and their chests rose and dropped heavily, and the crowd cheered as they did for the first two teams. it wasn't until just before the lights dimmed to prepare for the last performance when jisung finally noticed the girl in the crowd, his serious dance face turning back into a smile briefly before the lights were out again.

they watched the last group and hoped for time to pass quickly, yun glancing over at the judges a countless amount of times to get some sort of idea who could win, but their expressions remained the same all through out. not a single clap left them, either.

for haechans and jisungs first big dance competition they grew nervous when it finally came to judging, wanting them to feel achieved for their hard work but hoped they wouldn't drown in sadness if they didn't. renjun, who was sat next to yun, felt her grab onto his hand and pull it into her lap in a tense yet excited manner.

all of the ncit teams arms were hooked together and finally, the winner was announced.

"and the winner for the annual sme dance competition is," he left a pause for dramatic effect, "ncit!"

the cheers were even louder this time, more so from people from ncit, the other schools didn't care much to applaud since the win wasn't theirs, so the friend group made sure to make it as loud as they possibly could.

the crew jumped and cheered and hugged each other until finally someone took the trophy out of the hosts hands, thanking him before holding it up for the rest of the audience to see.

by the end the place was clearing out and the main lights were on, fully lighting the stadium as the friend group talked and waiting for their friends to come out. when they did, jisung made a beeline to yun and although he as sweaty, he threw his arms around her and squeezed tightly.

she groaned at the pressure, "you're so sweaty."

"you're here! and we won!" he ignored, pulling away, "you suck, seriously, it scared me so bad when i saw you in the crowd, and then we went back and i told haechan you were there and he didn't even believe me."

"in my defense, i did say i would be sad if you weren't here," the other dancer joined in, taking his turn in engulfing her in a hug.

"i'm proud of you guys, congratulations." the girl smiled genuinely.

only seconds later jisungs eyes grazed the place in hopes of finding dayun, and when he did, his heart fell straight to his stomach. "i see dayun."

the girl gasped, immediately turning her head to find where his eyes were before jisung nudged her. "don't—don't make it obvious, yun, god."

"i wanna meet her, go bring her to us," she whined, subtly pushing the boy in her direction. she hadn't noticed him yet and he kind of wanted to keep it that way.

"hello? what are you waiting for? you literally invited her." haechan sighed.

the taller glared at him, but he was mostly building up the confidence to walk up to her but pretending to scowl. when he finally did, his palms clamped together shyly and yun and haechan watched the two interact and cooed dramatically.

"i'm so happy you came," haechan admitted suddenly, pulling them out of their cooing.

"hm? really?"

"yeah, i feel like i danced better with you here."

she brushed him off, "you would've danced great either way but i'm glad i came too. you didn't even see me in the crowd, though."

"i know, but i was secretly convinced you were there and was trying to impress you with my skills."

yun let out a breathy, loud, genuine laugh upon hearing that sentece, finding it both cute and ridiculous. "wow, really? wow. that's the funniest thing you've ever said. i'm so happy i could help you do your best."

by the time her laughing died down and haechan got a chance to mock her laugh, jisung was approaching with dayun. "hi! this is dayun, guys. this is yun and haechan."

"hi! oh my god, so nice to meet you," yun beamed, holding her hand out for the girl to shake.

she gave a very sweet smile and accepted the handshake. "nice to meet you, too. jisung talks about you guys a lot."

"i'm sure he does," haechan joined, "you can always tell to shut the fuck up if necessary."

jisung didn't waste another second slapping the other on his shoulder, the girls laughing at the sight. "don't get cocky."
