Love Spell

CHAPTER 5

Jay, Carlos, Mal, and Evie are discussing their plans when there is a knock on the door. Mal opens the door with Jay behind her and they find Ben and Addy on the other side.

"Hey, Mal," Ben says with a smile as he sees that she is the one that opened the door.

"Jay," Addy says with a smirk as he sends her a wink.

"I didn't see you guys today. I was just wondering If you had any questions or anything... That... you needed..." Ben explains why they are there.

"Not that I know of," Mal answers before looking at the others who shake their heads no.

"Okay. All right. Well, uh, If you need anything, just, uh..." Ben says as he and Addy start to walk away.

"Oh, wait!" Mal calls causing Ben and Addy to stop. "Um, is it true that we all get to go to your coronation?"

"Yeah, the whole school goes," Ben answers as they walk back over.

"Wow. That is beyond exciting," Jay says with a smirk.

"Do you think that It's a possibility that the five of us could stand in the front row next to the fairy godmother, just so we could soak up all that goodness?" Mal asks Ben. Ben looks as if he wants to answer yes but he stops.

"I wish you could. Up front It's just me, Addy, my folks, Addy's date, and my girlfriend," Ben explains.

"And your girlfriend and your boyfriend?" Mal asks them.

"Yeah. I'm sorry," Ben answers while Addy nods.

"Okay. Thanks, bye," Mal says before she closes the door in their face. Ben and Addy share a confused look before leaving. "I think It's time that Bennyboo got himself a new girlfriend and Addybear gets a boyfriend." Mal looks over at Jay with a smirk.

"Oh no. No, no, no way," Jay says quickly. He did not want to hurt Addy in anyway.

"Oh come on Jay. It's just to keep her busy until after the coronation," Mal explains.

"Fine, I'll do it," Jay reluctantly agrees.

"I need a love spell," Mal says as she claps her hands for her book which Carlos throws to her.

After curfew, Addy and Lonnie sneak down to the kitchen to get a snack and so Lonnie could find Mal.

"There you are, Mal!" Lonnie says as she rushes into the room and Addy follows in after her. Jay quickly catches her eye before sending her a wink. "I was looking for you. You know, all the girls want you to do their hair? Midnight snack, huh? What you guys making?"

"Nothing special. Just cookies," Mal answers her.

"Oh, no, no!" They all say as Addy and Lonnie dip a finger into the dough.

"What? We're not gonna double dip," Lonnie says as they eat the dough.

"Feel anything?" Evie asks them.

"Yeah, like maybe it might be missing something?" Mal adds.

"Hey, there," Jay says charmingly as he stands in front of Addy.

"It could use some chips," Lonnie answers and Addy nods before she walks away from Jay but not before sending him a wink.

"Chips?" Jay asks as Addy opens the refrigerator.

"And those are?" Mal asks relieved that nothing happened to Lonnie and Addy.

"Chocolate chips. Just the most important food group," Lonnie answers as Addy walks over to them with a bowl that has small pieces of chocolate in it. "Wait, didn't your moms ever make you guys, like, chocolate chip cookies?" Lonnie adds some to the dough but they all look at her in shock from what she is saying.

"Like, when you're feeling sad, and they're fresh from the oven, with a big glass of milk, and she just makes you laugh and puts everything into perspective and..." Addy continues before seeing the shock quickly turn into looks of sadness. "why are you all looking at me like that?"

"It's just different where we're from," Mal tells Addy.

"Yeah, I know. I just, you know, I thought... Even villains love their kids," Addy says causing them all to look down sadly. "Oh... How awful." Lonnie grabs Mal's hand and Addy looks at Jay sadly before a tear starts to roll down her face.

"Yeah, well, big bummer," Jay says as he swipes the tear into the cookie dough. "but we have to get these into the oven, so thank you so much for coming by."

"Really, really have a good night. I'll see you tomorrow. Evil dreams," Mal says as she pushes Lonnie and Addy out the door.

The next day, Addy is walking with Ben and Audrey as they make their way to their lockers.

"Look, It's Mal. Hi, Mal! Love my hair, Mal!" The girls below the balcony call as they see the Mal above them. Addy couldn't help but smile as she saw Mal starting to fit in. Jay then walks up to Mal as he thinks about what he is about to do to Addy.

"Are you feeling kind of weird about this? I mean, It's not so bad here, you know," Jay says with a dreamy smile as he thinks about Addy.

"Are you insane? Long live evil! You're mean! You're awful! You're bad news! Snap out of it!" Mal says before snapping in his face.

"Thanks, Mal. I needed that," Jay says before walking over to the balcony.

"Do you think they actually paid for those?" Audrey asks Ben and Addy.

"Oh, hello. The name's Jay. You all going to the tourney game tonight?" Jay asks the girls below him causing Addy to slightly frown. "Keep a lookout for number eight, all right? Scoring the winning goal."

"She did it to Jane's hair, too, and fairy godmother's not happy about it," Audrey explains causing Addy to roll her eyes.

"What's the harm?" Ben asks her.

"It's gateway magic! Sure, it starts with the hair. Next thing you know it's the lips and the legs and the clothes and then everybody looks good and then... where will I be?" Audrey explains causing Addy to once again roll her eyes.

"Listen, Audrey..." Ben tries.

"I will see you at the game after my dress-fitting for the coronation, okay?" Audrey says. "Bye, Bennyboo." Audrey gives Ben an air kiss before she walks away. Addy lets out a sigh before patting Ben's shoulder and walking over to the balcony to talk to some of the people below.

"Hey, Addybear!" Jay says sarcastically as he walks up to Addy. Addy scrunches her nose at the nickname seeing as only Audrey or Chad called her that.

"Hey," Addy says with a smile.

"I just made a batch of cookies. Double chocolate chip, do you want one?" Jay asks her with a smile as he holds up the bagged cookie.

"Oh, I, uh, I've got to cheer at the game. I don't eat before cheering. But thank you so, so much. Thank you. Next time. Next time," Addy says before trying to walk away.

"No, yeah. I completely understand," Jay says causing her to stop and look at him confused. "Be careful of treats offered by kids of villains."

"No, no, no," Addy tries.

"No, I'm sure every kid in Auradon knows that," Jay says.

"No, that's not it. No, no, no, I...I really do..." Addy tries to fix the conversation.

"No, I get it. You're cautious. That's smart," Jay says with a smile before taking the cookie out of the bag. "Oh, well, more for me, I guess."

"No, no. Hey..." Addy says as Jay goes to take a bite of the cookie but she takes it away from him and takes a bite. "see that? Totally trust you. Totally." Jay smiles before glancing at Carlos, who starts making his way over to them.

"How are they?" Jay asks.

"They're good. They're great! They're amazing! They're, uh... I mean, they're chewy and, and you know, they... is that walnuts?" Addy says with a few giggles and Jay nods. "I love walnuts. I mean, uh, you know, the...The chocolate... The... the chocolate... The chocolate chips are... I'm sorry. Um... Uh, they're... They're warm and soft. And they're sweet... Jay, have you always had those little golden flecks in your eyes?" Addy goes to take another bite but Jay takes the cookie back before putting it back in the bag and handing it to Carlos.

"How you feeling, girl?" Carlos asks Addy as he grabs her shoulders.

"I feel... I feel... I feel like... Like singing your name. Jay! Jay!" Addy says before she tries to start singing but Jay quickly covers her mouth. Jay and Mal look at each other in shock when they realize the affect the cookies had.
