Chapter Six
"I've been looking for her everywhere," Lonnie complained for the fourth time already. She was standing in front of the mirror, still in awe from her new hair, "Mal's not in her dorm. Neither is Evie,"
"Lonnie, it's late and after curfew." Lia pleaded again. She was exhausted and wanted to get some sleep. Lonnie, apparently, had other plans. "There is a big game tomorrow, remember?"
"But I really need to find her. All the girls want her to do their hair." Lonnie exclaimed while Lia only snuggled deeply into the soft mattress, "Where could she possibly be, Lia?"
Even already half-asleep, the blonde-haired girl thought for a moment. An idea popped up but Lia knew it was a long shot. Finally, she mumbled sleepily, "Where would you go when you can't fall asleep?"
"You think they are in the kitchen?" Lonnie asked, realizing what her friend meant.
"Maybe," Lia yawned, already feeling herself drifting away to dreamland.
"Do they even know where it is?"
"Carlos and Jay do. And those four are always together," There was silence for a moment and for a second Lia thought that Lonnie had given up and gone to sleep.
Then, Lonnie muttered, "Yeah, you have a point. I'll go check it out," Lia heard the door creaked as it was opened, "Goodnight,"
By the time Lonnie closed the door to their dorm, Lia was already out like a light.

The next day, Lia could feel the excitement in the air. Everybody was going crazy for the big game. Big signs saying 'GO FIGHTING KNIGHTS' and 'AURADON'S TOURNEY RULES!' were hanged everywhere. The game was all people were talking about. Well, that and some of the girls' new hairstyle.
It turns out that Mal had been using her magic for some of the girls in Auradon who wanted a change. Lia was honestly not surprised. She saw in her own eyes how amazing Mal's spells worked. She might have asked Mal to do her hair too if it weren't for the fact Lia knew Audrey would have gone nuts and tell their parents.
She was on her way to the tourney field, already wearing her cheerleader outfit.
As she walked down the halls toward the field, Lia saw Jane, who was really struggling to carry her knight costume for the game. Jane had gone to the cheerleaders' tryouts once but Audrey refused to accept Jane because of her hair. Lia thought it was absolutely ridiculous. However, Audrey let her be the school knight mascot. After all, who would want to mess with Fairy Godmother's daughter?
Quickly, Lia made her way to Jane and grabbed parts of the customs that had fallen to the floor, "Need a hand?"
"Oh, thank god you are here, Lia. You are a lifesaver." Jane let out a sigh of relief and smiled at the blonde-haired girl. The two continued to walk together.
"No problem. Are you excited for the game?"
"Who isn't!" Jane exclaimed, "I mean, I know Auradon has been losing to Sherwood Falcons for years, but I have a good feeling for today. Maybe this time we could—" Whatever Jane was about to say was cut off as some students started to call her.
"Hey, Jane! Nice hair!"
"I love your hair, it looks great!"
Jane blushed at the sudden attention and thanked them. Like Lia, Jane was not used to receiving compliments. But she definitely seemed to enjoy them. Lia opened her mouth to say something to but a familiar voice spoke up behind her.
"There you are, Aurelia," Lia sighed as she heard her sister's voice and both Jane and Lia turned around. Audrey scowled at Jane—well, more like at her hair. She was not happy about the whole magic thing in Auradon. "After the game, I'm going for a dress-fitting for the coronation and you're coming with me, okay?"
Lia frowned. It was more like a demand than a question. "Why?"
"Don't ask me. It was mom and dad's idea," Audrey answered, "Anyway I should go and get ready for the game before the evil fairy's daughter will come back here again with her gateway magic," And with that Audrey walked away.
"Maybe it's gateway magic, but it's way better than the magic that in the books," Jane said, once Audrey was out of sight, imitating her mother. Lia let out a giggle and continued to walk along with Jane, "You know, I'm starting to think that Ben did the right thing by bringing Mal and the others to Auradon,"
Out of the corner of her eye, Lia saw Carlos walking with Evie and he was already looking at her. Smiling, Lia used the one hand that wasn't holding Jane's costume and waved. Her grin widened as he quickly waved back.
"Yeah, I think he did, too,"
