Chapter One

The golden-haired girl watched from aside as Auradon Prep's band, and possibly the entire school, were getting ready to welcome the new students. As she started to walk to the gardens someone walked by her, almost hitting her in the process with his large "Welcome!" sign. Another two students almost bumped into her as the ran towards something behind her. Anyone who didn't know what was all this mess about would probably think those students had gone mad. In a way, she kinda thought they did.

But despite this complete chaos, she could easily make out a certain brown-haired prince and right next to him, quite unsurprisingly, was standing a brunet girl with a light pink dress. Both of them were waiting anxiously, much like almost everyone around them.

She quickly found herself a place to sit, after she made sure it was safe from all the sign-holders and the flag-wavers. It didn't take long until a student shouted "They are here!" causing everyone to jump, stand and move in order to try and catch a glimpse of their new and unfamiliar visitors.

Usually, there wouldn't be so much excitement about new kids joining the prep but this was a special case. It was the beginning of something no one in Auradon had ever thought would happen.

It started off with a pretty much normal day in Auradon, but then Prince Ben (also known as the soon to be King of Auradon) decided to make his first official proclamation.

"As you know, years ago my father, King Beast, banished all the villains from the land of Auradon to the Isle of Lost." Prince Ben started, receiving loud cheers from the students in the school in return. There was no doubt Ben was one of the most favorite people in the school. He tried to calm them down before he continued.

"Now, I've come to realize that the descendants of these villains, who up to now lived in the shadow of their parents' wrongdoing, deserve a chance to determine a path of their own." Now instead of cheering, whispers were heard all around. Many students didn't understand where he was going with this.

"Which is why, as my first royal decree, I've decided to invite four students from the Isle of the Lost to Auradon Prep this year." It was deadly quiet for the first few seconds, but then the whispers started again. "Now I'm sure you have questions—"

As the marching band started playing, she snapped out of the memory and saw a limo stopping right in front of the school's garden. Regardless of how much curious she was to see the villains' descendants, she couldn't help but turn her gaze back to Prince Ben, who was standing there with a warm and welcoming smile. She might have had the tiniest crush on him—okay maybe not that tiny—but she knew Ben was pretty much off-limits for two simple reasons. One; he was dating Audrey, the undoubtedly most popular girl in Auradon, which according to many Auradon kids, made them the perfect couple. And two; other than being the most popular girl in the school, Audrey was none other than her—

"—relia! Hey, Aurelia!" She barely managed to notice that her name was being called. Only then she realized that the band had stopped playing and instead four pairs of eyes she had never seen before were staring at her. "Come here and introduce yourself," Ben suggested with a warm smile, that kind of smile that could easily convince every girl in Auradon.

Grabbing her bag, Aurelia walked towards Ben, Audrey and the four descendants. She was first met with dark chocolate eyes that belonged to a smirking muscular boy with long hair, who was wearing a jacket, blue jeans and a red beanie. Then the next was a girl with dark purple hair with highlights of lighter shades of purple that reached just a bit over her shoulders. Aurelia couldn't help but think that the girl's purple hair was so much cooler compared to the basic blonde hair she had. She had to admit, the purple and shades of green and pink clothes that the girl was wearing were a good-evil look on her. But those bright green eyes with that clear mischief glint in them sent chills down Aurelia's spine.

That spooky feeling she had felt completely disappeared once she saw a boy with white hair staring curiously at her. He was wearing black-and-white clothes and basically had chocolate all over his freckled face. Aurelia couldn't help but giggle and smile at the sight. Last, was the blue-haired girl, that for some reason was staring dreamily at Ben. She was wearing mostly blue and black clothing, and she had a crown on her head. She was definitely beautiful had the look of a princess.

"Aurelia, this is Jay," Ben said and pointed at the boy with the red beanie. "Mal," He pointed at the girl with the green eyes. "Carlos," The boy with the chocolate face. "And Evie," The blue princess.

"Hi, it's nice to meet you finally," She started with a shy smile. What else could you honestly say to four and probably evil descendants you just met? "Like Ben mentioned at least three times, I'm Aurelia—"

"Princess Aurelia!" Audrey interrupted, ignoring the weird look Aurelia sent her, and then after a second of silence Audrey added, "She's my sister."

"Right..." Aurelia replied, "But Princess Aurelia is way too formal. Just call me Lia."

"This is a momentous occasion. And one that I hope will go down in history." Ben suddenly said, proudly, "As the day our two peoples began to heal."

"Or the day that you showed four peoples where the bathrooms are," Mal said, quite sarcastically.

Ben chuckled and smiled at Mal. "A little bit over the top?"

"More than a little," Mal said.

"Well, so much for my first impression," Ben replied. Both he and Mal laughed together, staring at each other but then Audrey decided to cut in and face the purple haired girl.

"Hey, you're Maleficent's daughter, aren't you? Yeah, you know what? I totally do not blame you for your mother trying to kill our parents and stuff." Audrey said, a fake smile plastered on her face. Lia's eyes widened slightly at the news. Mal did resemble Maleficent which explained why she felt so spooky around her. Maleficent was her biggest fear. But still if Ben decided that she should come then maybe... "Oh, our mom's Aurora. Sleeping—."

"—Beauty." Mal interrupted and took a deep breath before speaking, her eyes glancing at Lia for a brief moment, "Yeah, I've heard the name. And I totally do not blame your grandparents for inviting everyone in the whole world, but my mother, to their stupid christening."

"Water under the bridge?" Audrey suggested.

"Totes!" Mal said and the two shared a loud, fake laugh before it died down.

Lia was sure anyone could feel the tension between the two, so she quickly turned to Ben. "So, Ben, what do you say about giving our new friends," She noticed the look her sister, and perhaps even Mal, was giving her but she still continued. "A tour in Auradon Prep?"

"Sounds great." Ben looked at the four and they didn't seem to object so he began. "Auradon Prep. Originally built over three hundred years ago and converted into a high school by my father when he became king." Ben led them through a garden. It had hedges, topiary, flowers, and a large statue right in the middle of King Beast himself. Lia loved that place.

Ben clapped his hands and the glorious human statue magically morphed into a beastly one. Carlos screamed and jumped into Jay's arms. Lia turned around to face Carlos and she almost burst into laughter at his frightened look. There was no way that boy could ever be any kind of a villain, he seemed too innocent.

"Carlos, it's okay," Ben tried to calm Carlos down. "My father wanted his statue to morph from Beast to Man. To remind us that anything is possible."

"Does he shed much?" Mal joked.

"Yeah, my mom won't let him on the couch," Ben said with a serious look on his face. Mal furrowed her brow and gave him a wry smile. They stared at each other for a second before Ben and Audrey continued walking.

Lia saw that Jay dropped Carlos and continued, but Carlos was still standing in front of the statue, staring at it. He tried clapping to see if it had the same effect and maybe it would morph again but the statue remained the same. Oh boy, they had a lot to learn about magic in Auradon.

"Come on, Chocolate boy, or you'll miss out the tour." Lia finally got Carlos' attention and he immediately rushed to keep up with the others. She smiled and walked with the others.

As the seven teenagers entered the main corridor of the school, Mal started talking again. She seemed to be the most open among the four. Well, considering the fact that Lia hadn't heard a word from the other three descendants. "So, you guys have a lot of magic here in Auradon. Like wands and things like that?"

"Yeah, it exists of course," Ben answered. "But it's pretty much retired. Most of us here are just ordinary mortals."

Mal rolled her eyes. "Who happened to be kings and queens."

Audrey smiled. "That's true! Our royal blood goes back hundreds of years." She took Ben's arm and wrapped it around her shoulders.

An awkward silence fell for a few seconds before Ben broke it by suddenly calling out, "Doug! Doug, come down." Doug, who was walking down the staircase, met Ben at the bottom of the staircase.

"This is Doug. He's gonna help you with your class schedules as show you the rest of the dorms." Ben introduced as he was walking back to Audrey and turned towards the four descendants. "I'll see you later, okay?" Ben said though Lia felt the statement was mostly directed at Mal. "And if there is anything you need feel free to—"

"—Ask Doug." Audrey cut him off. "Or you can also ask Aurelia," She added with a smile. Again, Audrey and Mal shared a loud, fake laugh, before it died. Audrey gave Lia a look that said: "Just do what I said, okay?" and then she left along with Ben.

Lia rolled her eyes. It wasn't the first time Audrey was telling her what to do and Lia hated it whenever her sister was trying to boss her around like she was the queen of Auradon (a scenario Lia wished would never happen, and not just because of her 'tiny' crush on Ben). She had tried to confront her sister about her behavior many times before but Audrey simply didn't listen.

The four descendants turned to Doug. "Hi, guys! I'm Dopey's son. As in Dopey, Doc, Bashful, Happy, Grumpy, Sleepy, and—" His eyes fell on Evie and he gripped his clipboard tighter. "Heigh Ho."

"Evie," She said, walking towards Doug flirtatiously. "Evil Queens' daughter." He looked at her dreamingly. Lia couldn't really blame him, Evie was a pretty girl. But Doug acted like he had never seen a girl before. And then Aurelia decided to take matters into her hands. She gently took the clipboard that had the required documents for the descendants from Doug, who was still staring at Evie.

"Alright, then," Aurelia started, "Since you're now students in Auradon Prep we got you a schedule and about your classes... Well, I guess Doug put in the requirements already. You have History of woodsmen and pirates, safety rules for the internet, and," Aurelia coughed, trying to ignore the fact that Maleficent's daughter was standing right behind her, peering at the clipboard. "Uh, remedial goodness 101."

"Let me guess," Mal said to both Aurelia and Doug (who finally snapped out of his daydream), "New class?"

They just nodded in return.

"Come on guys," Mal said. "Let's go find our dorms." The four of them started up the staircase closest to them before Doug realized they were going the wrong way.

"Oh, uh, yeah. Your dorms are that way, guys." Doug said, directing them to the opposite side of the room.

The four descendants followed his directions, walking in the direction Doug had told them. As they were leaving, Lia took something out of her bag and Doug started to go over what he had forgotten last time

"Dopey, Doc, Bashful, Happy, Grumpy, Sleepy, and," He stopped trying to think of the last one. Carlos paused his walking and said, "Sneezy." Doug tipped his head back, wondering how he could have forgotten that.

"Hey, Chocolate boy," Lia suddenly rushed towards Carlos. He stopped and turned to look at her. "You might want to use that," She handed him a napkin, "Although you look pretty cute and funny like that, you should really wipe it off."

He took the white and soft napkin hesitatingly, as if it would come alive and bite him in any second. He finally looked up at Aurelia and smiled. It was a genuine smile. "Thanks."

"No problem," She smiled back at him.

Carlos turned back to walk with the other descendants, but it seemed like they already continued without him. "I'm two seconds' behinds and they are already gone..." He muttered and cleaned his mouth with the napkin.

Lia bit her lip, feeling slightly guilty. "If you want, I can show you around." She suggested, "I've got nothing better to do anyway and trust me you'll get lost in those halls. It took me two months to find my own dorm. Two awkward months of getting lost and bursting into strangers' rooms."

Carlos chuckled slightly and nodded, "Sure. Why not?"

Lia didn't know what made Ben choose such a decision as his first official proclamation. She didn't know why he suddenly decided to give the four descendants a chance to determine a path of their own in Auradon. But she knew for sure that from now on things in Auradon would be interesting.
