03.
Before Free had vanished, Valt did his absolute best, to try and convince him to stay. The younger blue haired male didn't know what things were like before, of course, he'd only recently joined BC Sol. Even still, he could tell how much Free meant to the team. He could tell how much Free meant to her. His efforts were in vain, once Free made up his mind, there was near no chance you could change it. Despite this, the mellow blonde had left Valt with a lazy, lopsided smile.
Valt couldn't be angry with him, because it was obvious that Free had no ill intentions.
"But. . . Aren't you going to miss everyone?" Valt's reasoning was quite childish, but Free did give him the credit, and actually thought about it for a second.
"Sure I will." His response could have been genuine, or sarcastic, you couldn't tell.
"What are we gonna do without our captain? We really counted on you!" The blunette burst out again, he could start crying any second now. Free wasn't his best friend, but the thought of not seeing him again for so long. Valt never liked goodbyes.
"You'll figure it out. You've already got someone better suited than I am." Free ended with a small sigh, just thinking about all that work made his knees tired. "I don't really like that kind of training." He was honest, Valt could at least appreciate that.
For a while, they'd stood there in silence. Valt thinking of something to say, and Free waiting for the last second to take off. At this moment, he wondered what dinner he was going to miss tonight.
"Can you, at least explain to me why you have to go?" Quietly, the little one spoke up again, his brown eyes staring at the lush grass beneath their shoes.
Originally, Free didn't want to have to delve into this subject. He'd rather leave it as he left the country, because if he started to talk about it: he might just want to stay. His head slowly tilted to the side, thinking about how to put it into words properly, was already wearing him out.
"I'm already number one, that may as well have left me with nothing else to do." Free had such a soft spoken voice, for someone so brutally strong. "But I do have another goal." His dark eyes, had stared at nothing in particular.
"What is it-?" Valt had inched a little closer to him, trying to find what Free was looking at so intensely for.
"I just want a quiet life, too. I hate being bothered." Strangely enough, the blonde had started smiling. "Sleeping late in the morning, Mio waking me up for breakfast. Training on my own, going back for lunch, and then dinner."
Such a simple routine, over and over, yet this was his ideal life. He'll join a couple tournaments here and there, but none of that sponsor nonsense. None of people clinging to him, or holding insensible grudges against him. None of being a captain to a team, he couldn't bring himself to coach properly.
Just waking up late in the morning, after everyone else. Not by an obnoxious alarm clock, or ringing bell, but by a gentle shake of the shoulder, and his name being muttered a few times. Eating breakfast in bed if he felt too lazy, and then disappearing in his self proclaimed forest, gone with the deer. It didn't matter how deep he'd succumb himself into the trees, she'll always manage to find him, and perfectly on time at that. Just in time for lunch.
Everyone will head back to training, and he'd watch for a bit, just for the sake of it. Maybe battle once, or twice, but he won't be the main attraction. Even if he was still number one, for the rest of his life, it was about time he at least gave up some of that glory. The cheers were getting too loud, someone else deserved some credit, too.
This ideal of his; it's selfish. Free knew that.
Throwing everything on Mio, just because he was tired of it now. He already made her do his laundry, make his bed, clean his room (that he hardly ever used, given he'd just sleep in hers instead), and even dry his hair for him. He wanted her to be happy too, of course. She said she was happy by his side, and that alone, so this wouldn't be a problem, right? Besides, all the kids likes her better to begin with. It wasn't like she didn't know how to spin a blade, she could teach them far more than he could.
"I'll be back." Suddenly, passing Valt a gentle smile, Free had straightened up. "See you around." With that, he left.
He left behind everything that he called home, and everyone that he considered family. But he would come back one day. He'd come back to that perfect life of his, and never have to worry about anything again.
He could trust her for that.
"Man! That guy had it so easy around here, why did he leave!?" Frustrated as all hell for absolutely no good reason, Reiji crossed his arms, heaving an exaggerated sigh. He waited for a response from the girl in the kitchen, but she didn't say anything. "I mean, you do everything around here. You cook, you clean, you teach, what else did he make you do?" The brunette slowly inched closer, as if suggesting something.
"Not much." Mio responded, very simply. "He hardly asked for me to do anything for him, I just did it anyways."
". . . Can I ask you something?" Suddenly lowering his voice, the mystery blader lowered himself to the girl's height. Her brown eyes blinked a few times, and she merely nodded.
"Were you two like, a thing, or something?"
"Childhood friends, yes. We still are, I assume."
"No, no, not like that. I mean, do you like him?" If Reiji were to here an answer that he didn't want, then he was prepared to grimace, and start complaining about it. Though, the white haired girl had just turned away from him.
"I need to prepare dinner now, please leave the kitchen. I'll be far too busy to talk."
"Okay, okay. . . Yes ma'am."
