The fox stayed in the tornado for the night as Shadow went back to his room. It was uncomfortable to be near each other knowing they were nothing but strangers now.

By the next night, they met each other again outside of the building. They heard noises inside it and immediately ran in before they could even greet each other. Soon stopping in their tracks as a bright glow came out from the center of the room.

"Is that?" The fox asked.

"The last chaos emerald." The Hedgehog walked closer and picked it up but immediately dropped it when his eyes adjusted to the light and could see what was in front of him.

Frozen in place, the two of them could not believe their eyes. They saw Eggman and a dismantled Metal beside him. Eggmans body showed signs that he had clearly died years ago. And Metals scraps were rusted and scrapping off the blue color he had. The dents he had showed that Sonic had fought back.

"T-Theres a note." The fox pointed out as he noticed Eggmans hand was holding a piece of paper. The ebony rival grabbed it and took a few steps back as the fox grabbed the emerald again.

'I know what happened to them.' Was all the letter said.

"Who called us here? Who left this here?" The rival asked as he skated outside and looked around not finding anyone around anymore.

"I wasn't far from here, I could see the building from where I was at and didn't see anything." The fox said as he walked out.

"The communicator will tell us, were you able to fix it?"

"Yes. I have the battery charging at the moment. Come on." They walked to the tornado, the fox jumping into his seat as the ebony one sat on the wing and waited.

"Is it turning on?"

"Yes. Hold on." The fox put the battery back on the communicator and turned it on. The screen turned to a picture of Sonic and Tails together bringing tears to the foxes eyes. "Let's see..." He said as he looked for anything that may tell them anything about Sonic.

The fox looked at the call logs and realized there was a number he didn't recognize. He wrote it down on his phone and continued looking, going to the gallery now. There was a video where the screen was black but something was being said. He pressed play and listened.

"Come on Eggman, you know you're not capable of doing something like this." The hero was talking. "It's stupid. It's reckless. Even for you, Egghead."

"Shut up! I am tired of you and your friends messing up all of my plans! I will finally get rid of you, Sonic and have total control over you!"

"Yeah, well, I'll like to see you try." The hero yawned and a ripping noise was heard.

"What are you doing?! You can't do that!" Eggman shouted in panic as Sonic laughed. His spin dash could be heard. "Give that back! You are going to mess everything up again! Do you not care about what may happen to you?!"

"I only care about what happens to my friends. I can't let you go through with this." Sonic kept laughing. "You should know that by now Egghead. I'll give up myself to protect the others. This time, I'll make sure you don't get to go back."

"Sonic! NO!" Eggman was heard shouting then a loud crash happen. A growl was heard then the video ended.

"What the hell was that?" Shadow asked as he stood up.

"I-I think... Sonic killed himself in the process of killing Eggman... to protect us..." The fox explained as tears streamed down his muzzle.

"No. No that doesn't explain why his body was never found. Why we never found their bodies until now. Someone was hiding this." The heros rival refused to give up. "There's still a lot of questions unanswered."

"Youre... you're right... we can't give up yet." The fox cleaned his tears and nodded. "There's a number here that was called yesterday after the communicator turned on. It's not any number I recognize. I'm going to try to find who's it belongs to and we can go from there."

"I'll go with." Shadow answered. "Keep the communicator on at all times. They may try to call back."

With that said, the two new friends went back to their town to Tails house and try to find answers. The Hedgehog stayed in the foxes spare room and stayed in the lab to help the fox figure out if there was anything else they had missed.
