Chapter 4
The question remained the same 3 years after that night. What happened to Sonic the Hedgehog?
That question was about to be discovered by none other than Shadow the Hedgehog and the heros best friend, Tails.
It was a morning like any other, the fox had woke up open his computer, he rarely slept in his bed now, spending all his hours locked in the dark of his laboratory. His ear started twitching at the beeping sound that was coming out of the computer he was using as a pillow.
He groggily looked up at it to see an unknown number had texted him.
U: You're still looking and I'm watching. You want answers, come these coordinates by tomorrow night.
The fox didn't know what to think of this, he had gotten many messages of some people playing cruel jokes on him over the years but they had already stopped. This was new, no one had bothered him in months now.
There something else that made him decide to agree to go. When he went to his second monitor, he saw Sonics communicator was now on. His heart skipped a beat, and he remembered what hope was about.
The thing about hope, is that it is very hard to kill once it has sparked. It's the one thing that can always kill you.
"Sonic? Sonic can you hear me?" The fox called from his communicator to the heros line but there was no response. Until a few moments later, static came out from his end, someone had found Sonic, someone had his communicator and was trying to guide him to where he was. Or was setting him a trap.
The fox, for once in the past 3 years, smiled and laughed as he brushed his fur back from his face. He looked around and grabbed a backpack as he started to pack for his new adventure. He packed it up in the tornado x and flew away without looking back.
Not far from where the coordinates were set to, Shadow was staying in a hotel. He had been tired of sleeping out in the woods and wanted to rest for once. He had gone out to get a something to eat and before he could open the door to his room again, he saw a note taped to his door.
'You're still looking and I'm watching. You want answers, come to these coordinates by tomorrow night.'
Shadow dropped his food and glanced around to see if he could find whoever had left this note on his door. He couldn't believe it, was he finally going to have his answers?
He couldn't wait any more and for once since that night, he used his speed and skated off to the coordinates that were there. Only to find the fox searching the place.
It was an abandoned building, the door was busted down, grafitti covered bricks, peeling paint and ivy running up the walls. Many windows were shattered or boarded up, the roof sagged in places with missing shingles. As the ebony one walked in, the fox noticed his presence and turned to face him.
"Shadow?" The fox asked in disbelief. "What are you doing here? Did you send me that message?"
The Hedgehog showed the fox the note he had received and glanced around, the atmosphere feeling thick and dusty, the wallpaper ripping down, broken furniture and littered floor covered in glass and papers all around them.
"Have you found anything?" Shadow asked, he didn't come here to fight, he wanted the same answers the fox wanted.
"No. I just got here. His communicator turned on today. He's either alive or someone found him." He told his rival as he crouched down and picked up the papers in the floor, revealing stains of puddles of blood making him drop the papers again and take a few steps back. "What if this is where-"
"I don't think they would call us here if it was." Shadow stopped his train of thought. "But something did happen here."
"You two are cery impatient." The two of them turned around at hearing that voice.
"Scourge?" The fox growled and turned his hands into fist. "Whats going on here? You're the one that called us here?!"
The ebony one crossed his arms to remain calm, knowing that at this point, Scourge had the upper hand.
"Calm down. I'm not here to fight. I was actually told to come here too. I found this and when I turned it, it told me to come here today. It doesn't work though." The green one pulled out the heros broken communicator. The screen was black but he pressed a button to talk and only static came out of it. It had blood stains on the sides and a the screen from where Sonic had tried to call all those years ago. "It turned on just long enough for me to write down the coordinates."
"Where did you find this?" The ebony asked as he snatched the communicator away and examined it then passed it to Tails knowing he could fix it and retrieve whatever was in it.
"Outside of Sonics old home, where his foster parents died. I had been there before with Manic but we had never seen it. We don't remember it ever being there, one day we went and it was just on the table. No sign of Blue though, or anyone breaking in." Scourge explained to the other two. "I think if you fix this, it could lead you to what happened to him."
"Were you the one who sent me the message and left that note to Shadow?" The fox asked and the green one shook his head.
"Someone knows where Sonic is. Dead or alive, they know... And for some reason they want us to find him now." Shadow said as he looked down at the note. "My guess is that there is something else that we are missing before we can start looking."
"We can come back tomorrow night. I think whoever left this for you just wanted you to leave this here for Shadow and I to find. Go home, we will take care of the rest and don't tell anyone else." The fox said as the other soon left.
"Who called us here?" Shadow asked out loud. "And why now?"
