My year knowing Cameron...
I was nervous going into Football season my Freshmen year. I had the right to be! Since it was the first week of practice, we had a fun, team building activity. I was paired with a Sophomore named Jaxon (who i am still friends with to this day) and a Senior named Cameron Nahf.
He took charge of our group task, which was a special challenge for the day. I was struggling and he picked me up. Cam was that guy who was good enough to do it himself, but he still always valued his teammates....even the Freshmen.
However, that same season, about a week later, I fractured my wrist and was out for the season. Cam had his share of Injuries in the season, so we got plenty of chances to talk about random shit on the sidelines.
I don't remember all the stuff we talked about, but I do remember him saying he wished to Go into the MLB. He also said the NFL would be "a fun side gig" if he made it there too. Cam was always a laid back guy with a joking attitude. He was known for always being a few minutes late to football team meetings, which we lovingly teased him about.
Our coach always said that our football team was one big Family. This mentality made me think of every player out there as my brother. I supported every one of them. Cam had been in and out of the lineup with injuries, as I said before. During Week 2, In the locker room before the game, Cam was talking with another Senior, Carter. Cam wore 52 and Carter wore 53 for jersey numbers. They were talking about "Going Pro one day, Winning the super bowl, and being inducted to the hall of fame" together. It's because of Cam's story that I remember that conversation vividly.
During winter, Cameron didn't play basketball or anything. Most mornings, i found him sleeping in the locker room (LOL). After school, We'd always have a chat about Baseball or something else before I left. I didn't see much of him in winter.
Them spring rolles around.
Cameron was a great baseball player. He could pitch well, hit well, the whole package.
He was recruited by Western Tech, a Division one school in Michigan, to play college baseball. He was pne step closer to fulfilling his dream..... but then came the morning of May 23, 2018.
