Chapter 8

"Noona."

"Mhmm?"

"You like to hear me singing don't you?" Jungkook said suddenly his tone smug.

He was way too smug these days for some reason. So she poked a spot on his tan back harshly.

A few seconds passed as she waited for him to yell out in pain.

"Ow." He said tonelessly after a few seconds.

"Was that supposed to be painful?" He smirked at her over his shoulder.

"Yeah." She groaned.

Jungkook snickered annoyingly into his hand and she slapped his gelled tan back a bit harshly and turned around to switch on the machine.

"Ow!" Jungkook yelled out genuinely in pain this time and she laughed out loud.

"Noona, if you wanted to spank me that bad then you should've said beforehand." Jungkook smirked again at her.

Good lord, where was the shy boy she had met just few weeks before?

"I do not flirt with babies kookie-ah." She said sassily at him and he laughed wholeheartedly. She gently put the warm and slightly damp towel on his back and smiled as Jungkook breathed out a sigh of relief.

"Should I show you that I'm not a baby Noona?"

"I'm pretty sure there is actually nothi-" She started but cut herself off as Jungkook still hand suddenly drifted off to the hem of his pants teasingly.

Sae's eyes widened and she sputtered in disbelief as Jungkook guffawed like there was no tomorrow.

"S-shut up."

"Make me."

"Yah!" She hid her flushing face behind her hands embarrassed beyond belief.

The sudden ringtone of her phone saved herself from further humiliating embarrassment.

"Hello?" She answered the phone, her tone light and happy.

"Why do you sound so happy?" The man on the other end asked and heart dropped to her feet.

Shit, shit, shit.

Seeing her face pale, Jungkook stared at her worriedly and opened his mouth to say something but she frantically shushed him with her hands, signaling him not to talk. Thankfully he got the hint .

"I'm treating a patient right now Suk-ah" She whispered into the phone trying not to let her voice shake.

"Are you now whore? You know that you are completely useless and shit at your job right?" He sneered and she stuttered out an affirmative.

"Yeah, you don't even like it." He continued not bothering about how the words raked down a chainsaw in her heart, like always, "So why would you be happy huh? Unless you are fucking somebody behind me like the slu-"

"Suk-ah! I'm not cheating on you, p-please stop this." She whispered into the phone, trying to fold herself into the furthest corner of her office, as much as away from Jungkook she could get. She dint want the younger to see her in a state like this.

The thought of running to the washroom for privacy crossed her mind but the next onslaught of words made her limbs freeze.

"N-No." She whispered brokenly. "Please don't." She clenched her fists and shut her eyes as the first tear fell.

But only the beep tone which signaled that he had hung up, greeted her and her legs fell from beneath her in terror. Tears flowed freely and she curled in on herself hiding herself in her arms as she silently sobbed.

Lost in her misery and terror she did not notice Jungkook switching of the lights in the room and slowly walking over to her and gently combing his giant fingers into Sae's hairs soothingly/ Unknowingly, Sae leaned into the comforting warmth of Jungkook's hand and soon the younger was pushing her head against his solid chest.

At first she resisted, pulling her neck with all her might, her lips wet with lood as she tried not to breakdown more in front of him.

"Noona." The soft word was enough for Sae to finally fall against Jungkook's warm, clothed shoulder finally letting her tears free.

Deep inside she knew, she knew that what she was doing was absolutely unethically wrong. Jungkook was just a patient, someone she wasn't supposed to get involved. But the younger's presence was so comforting. She hadn't realized how much somebody's warmth could comfort, give a façade of comfort until Jungkook held her.

Her sobs didn't quiet down but Jungkook never once pried. Sae forced herself to stop by clenching her fingers, mind blindly lunging towards any happy moment she could grasp onto but she found none. It had been years since she had felt that immense happiness or just contentment in general. And she hadn't even realized it until a piece of it was presented to her in the form of a comforting embrace.

"Its okay, you can cry." Jungkook murmured somehow understanding what Sae was trying to do.

The thought only made her cry harder, all the tears she suppressed to late finally flowing free. Jungkook's other hand was suddenly around her, urging her more closer and gently rocking her back and forth despite their awkward position.

Funnily enough, despite how young and innocent Jungkook looked sometimes, his smell, his form, his presence was anything but. She found herself calming down, getting lost in everything that was Jungkook. Everything about him was warm, manly and reassuring. Nothing like her boyfriend's half hearted embrace which felt hard and artic.

Just like that, her emotions careened once more.

Jungkook, as if sensing her wavering shift in emotions finally remembered something.

"The way to love me isn't hard ~" Jungkook began softly, at first just humming gently into Sae's ear.

"Just hold me tight like you are now," Jungkook continued, the timbre of his voice managing to distract and sooth Sae a bit. Sensing the shift in Sae, Jungkook carried on voice turning confident as he went.

"We don't know what will happen to us later," His voice was askance and guilt, as if his emotions wanted to jump out in magnificent muscle straining pirouettes. "But I like that nothing's decided ~"

"Who cares what others say? We can't live without each other, so what's the problem?" He sang, his voice a ballad and her tears the audience, stilled and awed. "We can be more in love together ~" He ended the first stanza passionate enough that she felt his voice twirl around the unconscious heartbeat in his chest as she pressed her cheek on it.

"If you start to like someone else, If I get used to not being with you,~" As he sang those lines, Sae almost fel the pain of those lines as if it were real, his voice wavering as though mere thought of the said lines pained him.

"When that time comes, when it's that time, Only then we can break up." Here Sae was again transfixed at the tiny fingers that seemed to play on her heartstrings as he continued onto the horus again. The lines were a comprise, a promise and sung as if to sooth somebody into staying.

"Whether you want it or not, I'm going to hold onto you. When I get too tired that I can't even walk

"When that time comes, when it's that time, Only then we can break up~"

The mere tranquility and pain in his voice mad her want to stay. Slowly she uncurled from herself brought her hand onto Jungkook's back, just laying it there gratefully, hoping the younger understood.

And he did. Because she felt the sharp weight of his chin on her head as he rested his head upon her hair, his singing softly reducing to a low a hum which gradually halted into a comfortable stop.

They stayed like that for a while, just relishing in the dark blanketing silence in the office before Sae pulled back, hanging her head down in shame and embarrassment.

"I'm sorry." Sae mumbled guiltily and Jungkook said nothing. "Thank you for doing that though." Sae nodded gratefully, eyes catching his for a second before it fled again chased by her insecurities. "Even though you didn't want to."

A sharp finger beneath her jaw, forcing her to look up, surprised her. What surprised her even more were Jungkook's fearsome eyes that didn't waver form hers.

"What makes you think I didn't want to?" Jungkoo's voice was gentle and but his eyes were narrowed. The familiarity of the same gaze and memories of a similar situation usually ending up in worser ways punched its way through her gut and she flinched automatically.

"N-nothing." She managed to say, even though her voice still cracked.

"Are you closing up after me?" Jungkook asked out of nowhere and Sae found herself nodding.

"Why?" Sae asked she tried to stand up but couldn't get up due to her positions in a cramped and awkward way for the past moments.

"Because I'm treating my favorite noona to ice cream today." Jungkook grinned and switched on the lights.

She tried to not let her heart skip a beat at the 'favorite' that now graced the sentence along with her name.

Butshe failed miserably anyways .
