Golden watch

So, I hadn't noticed until just recently that Teddy Lupin turned 17 this April (2015) and I felt sad because his parents couldn't congratulate him when he turned of age... so I wrote a fanfic about his birthday.

Let the story begin!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The sun had not completely appeared on the sky yet when Teddy Lupin woke up on the day of his seventeenth birthday. His fellow Hufflepuff dorm mates, William McMillan, Martin Elliot, Talon Sparrow and John Thompson, were still sleeping, but Teddy always woke up early when it was his birthday. Figuring that he wouldn't be able to go back to sleep now, he stretched and sat up slowly, rubbing his sleepy eyes.
When he took away his hands from his eyes he saw a pile of presents at the end of his bed. He smiled and reached for the first present. It was a book, big surprise, Teddy thought sarcastically as he saw that it was from Ron and Hermione. He always got quidditch books from them.
He also got a lot of pranking supplies, (even though he wasn't one if those who usually pranked people) more books and lots of different sweets. After a while, there was only one present left.
It was a small package in golden wrapper with small silver stars on it. On the package lay an envelope. On the envelope had someone - Harry by the look on the letters - written: Open the package first.
Teddy smiled as he reached for the little package. He ripped of the wrapper and out fell a beautiful golden watch. Small stars were moving around the dial instead of pointers. Teddy smiled and turned it around, fascinated by it's beauty. On the backside was a small crack. He was surprised to see that it was broken, but it didn't matter. It showed the time, and after all, that was what was important with a clock.
Then Teddy opened the envelope and a letter with Harry's writing fell out.
Dear Teddy, It said.
Everyone here at home miss you very much and I wish that I could be with you now, as you turn of age, though sadly, I have to work. I guess I have to wish you a happy birthday through this letter instead.
Happy Birthday, Teddy!
Do you like the watch? I really hope you do, see, I was choosing between buying you a new one or giving you an old one. As you maybe noticed, I decided to give you an old one. Ginny said that to buy a new one would be stupid, that you would much rather want this one, and I really agree with her.
It is a tradition in the wizarding world, that when a wizard becomes of age, he will get a watch. When I turned seventeen Molly and Arthur Weasley gave me one. It had once been Molly's brother's. It still works perfectly well and I use it all the time. It really means a lot to me.
The watch that you've got, is not just any second hand watch. Long ago it was your mother's. When she died Andromeda put this watch away, so that when you were old enough, it would be yours. Now it is. Since your grandmother is no longer around to hand it over, I decided that it was my duty as your godfather to give it to you.
Now, I would just want to make one thing clear: This watch is not from me and Ginny. We did not buy it and nor was it ever ours. It's a present from your mother, from Tonks. Remember that, Teddy. She would have been very proud of you. Very proud indeed, and so would Remus have been. They loved you. And even if they aren't around anymore, I'm sure that they would love to wish you a happy birthday.
Happy birthday!
Harry
Teddy looked at the letter. His eyes had started to burn in an annoying way and they felt somewhat wet. He didn't know whether he was happy or sad. Maybe both. After reading the letter, he missed his parents. He missed them a lot, but then, just to look at the clock, made it feel as though they were right there with him.
He picked up the watch and looked at it. He ran a finger over the crack on the back of it. Suddenly he loved that crack. He wondered how it had appeared. He looked at the three tiny, silver stars and smiled. He thought that it was one for his mother, one for his father and one for himself.
He put it on his wrist and looked at it again. He smiled even wider, for now he knew that he was never alone, he had always his parents with him.
THE END
I know it was short and I know it was nothing special, but I still hope you liked it :)
I appreciate comments!
