Tyler's weekend goes by with him being smothered by his friends. He was deep into his headspace, into little space to the point where full sentences weren't being formed. Brendon had guessed he was at the mental age of maybe a three year old but really he wasn't sure.

The age of Tyler's regression didn't especially matter as long as all of his friends were there for him, there with him to take care of him through it.

He'd learnt to trust.

Truthfully falling deep into little space for days could've been bad but really in the safety of Brendon's house it was good. He'd convinced his parents to let him stay over once again and they'd seemed unwilling but they'd let him anyways.

Everyone knew he was mortified after what had happened in the gym, everyone knew he would freak out the moment he was back in his normal confident headspace. they'd witnessed five minutes of that freak out in the diner but it wasn't long until Ashley was bringing him back down with praise and pet names over the phone.

It without fault worked nearly every time and  Tyler was grateful without even realizing it. He needed little space. It was his best coping mechanism for everything, especially when he just needed to get away.

Even though Dallon had wanted him in a place where he could go home to his parents at the time, Tyler had needed to be in that state but god Brendon and Dallon weren't about to force that on him. So maybe, just maybe they'd stayed at the diner with little Tyler for an extra hour, giggling about silly things the little was saying.

🌻

Early Monday morning Brendon's hands were delicate on Tyler's shoulders as he shook him. Tyler was already awake, cuddled into one of Brendon's pillows, inhaling the freshly cleaned sheets that smelt of lavender.

He groaned as Brendon continued his pestering.

Going anywhere seemed awful, going home, going to school. Moving wasn't something he wanted to do but Brendon kept rubbing soothingly into his back and hushing gentle words of reassurance.

"Tyler you have to go to school honey." Brendon said easily, scooting closer to Tyler.

"I-I don't wanna." He whined, sound muffled by the pillow. Sleeping over at Brendon's always had him lazier, especially on Mondays. It was inevitable. He wasn't necessarily little though.

"It's gonna be perfectly fine." Brendon assured.

Tyler shook his head because there was no way he could face his teacher. "No, it's gonna be awful and Mr.Dun is gonna call me out in front of class and i'm gonna start crying." His bottom lip jutted out as he looked at Brendon, brown eyes scared.

"Tiny he wouldn't do that." Brendon said sincerely and Tyler only groaned because the suspicion that, that's exactly what would happened was definitely there. That scenario was playing over and over in his head. Calling him out in front of class definitely seemed like something Mr.Dun would do.

"Uh-huh yes he would Brennie, he does it all the time." He sat up, legs bent, arms wrapping around himself. He looked small just like that, all pouty and nervous and Brendon really wished he had Ashley over to help out.

"Really?" He asked playfully

"No." Tyler murmured, ducking his head down to lookat his stuffie that had made its way to the end of the bed instead of Brendon.

"Exactly." Brendon said with a gentle smile. "Teachers won't put you in a position like that and Tiny no offence but I don't think Mr.Dun really noticed anything? He was more concerned if anything."

Tyler only hummed not in agreement but not in disagreeing. He felt cloudy as he brought his forehead to rest against his knees, as Brendon's headboard dug into his spine.

Brendon sighed, crawling over so he was sat beside his best friend. He placed a hand over Tyler's, sincerity clear in his expression and softened tone. "I doubt he even knows what little space is yeah?"

"What if he does? He's not that old!" There were so many possibilities and as those words left his lips he curled in on himself more causing Brendon to pull him against his chest from where'd he'd been sitting. Comfort was important in the situation so Brendon did what he could and Tyler was pliant although slightly tense.

He rested his head against Brendon's torso, getting settled into a position he'd be able to fall asleep in knowing that Brendon wouldn't let him close his eyes. Fingers twirled in his hair. Brendon was giving him time to adjust, giving him time to settle. Although they were in a rush Brendon wasn't going to rush him.

"If he does wouldn't that be better for you?"

Tyler pouted. "That'd be worse." Brendon continued to soothe his fingers in his hair.

He sighed. "you're worrying about nothing." Tyler said nothing so he continued. "Really I think the most he'll do is ask you how you're feeling." Brendon said honestly.

"I don't want to see him though! That whole thing was so embarrassing either way. I-I can't see him."

Brendon narrowed his eyes before a playful grin played at his face. "Skip class."

Tyler gasped, hand hitting Brendon's chest as he bolted up, back straight. "That's a bad idea!"

"You're the one saying you don't want to see him, i'm offering you options."

"Skipping will get me in so much more trouble. At least if I stay home I can call in fake sick and be fine."

"So are you saying you're coming to school?"

"No."

"Tyler i'm all for you staying home but I know you'll end up freaking out if you miss practice which you have during your lunch period."

"I can miss it." Tyler shrugged.

"Tiny you've never missed one class, let alone practice." And Brendon was right but Tyler wasn't about to admit that he had never once let himself not be there. Even when he was deathly sick he'd shown up which hadn't been his best idea considering his coach benched him and told him to go home.

"I have." He said in a small voice as he brought a thumb to his mouth.

"No you haven't. I don't want you to get mad at me later so c'mon get your ass up. We've got fifteen minutes."

"m'not going into Mr.Dun's class." Tyler pouted, Brendon's comforter bunched into his lap. He felt slightly small but Brendon rolled his eyes and patted his shoulder.

"You don't have to. You've just gotta show up to everything else." Brendon's voice barely wavered as he searched his closet for something for Tyler to wear. Without doubt he wasn't gonna let Tyler miss school even though he was just as tempted to stay home.

🌻

"What if I see him in the hallway! Oh my god no." Tyler said, still worrying. The moment they'd stepped into Brendon's car he was back to thinking about the inevitable. This was the middle. It was the center between his  age regression and everyday headspace and it was confusing just in the slightest. All of Tyler's confidence was wavering and anxious and Brendon had never seen him so worried about a single person.

"Relax." He laughed, biting his tongue in the process.

Tyler poked his shoulder hard. "Don't laugh at me." He was pouting and Brendon couldn't help but let out another laugh.

"Sorry it's just Ive never seen you this stressed over something this tiny. He saw nothing. Didn't even hear you talking." Assurance is what Tyler needed. He still needed to here it, even though that's small Brendon had been doing all morning.

"Why don't you, just talk to him real quickly? Tell him you really weren't feeling well."

Tyler's eyes widened as he looked at Brendon. "He walked in on you guys tickling me. On the floor!"

"Yeah well look man. I know you can do this. Just walk into class like normal and if he asks. Brush him off!" Brendon shrugged and Tyler rolled his eyes.

"That's not what you were saying earlier." He hummed. Head leaning against the window, his seat belt digging into his shoulder.

"Again. I'm giving you options Ty." Brendon said with a wide smile.

It didn't take long before Tyler was tending up again. The sight of their school had him grabbing Brendon's hand in a tight grip.

"Shit, I don't think I can face him."

"You can."

Tyler took a deep breath. "I'll try to I guess." And just like that his mind had been changed. It wasn't a hard process really. Although he had been unwilling and even though in that moment he was still nervous, that cocky confident side always shone through even when he was feeling anything but.

He liked challenges though and his personality conflicted heavily with his little space which was why his friends were nearly shocked when he'd explained everything to them. When his little space and normal headspace combined it had him anxious yet on the verge of confident and Brendon knew this.

So he pushed and maybe Tyler wouldn't be skipping Mr.Dun's class like he had wanted to.

Maybe.
