6. Uniforms
Start song: Love Club by Lorde.
Also, I hope you guys all slept well and are hydrated and are well fed and i hope you all have a great day because you're all such angels and i love you.
Tyler's mornings were always rushed and today was no different. He had a migraine, his body was sore from the basketball practice he'd just had, he was still sweaty and he was running to class, backpack tugging against his shoulders because he was going to be late and there was no way he was getting a late slip. This was on him.
Practice had went well though although he was almost late for that too, he woke up feeling sick but he pushed himself to go to school because this wasn't about him, it was about taking care of his team and not letting anybody down, not letting his friends or his teachers down and if that meant nursing a migraine all day and aching bones then he would.
He rushed passed students, he was running, which was something he wasn't supposed to do but he had Mr.Dun first period and if there was one teacher he wanted to leave a good impression on, it was him. It was definitely him without a doubt.
He always made sure all his teachers liked him, he needed them to be on his side and to be understanding. It was a zone of comfort for him to have teachers like him as their student. It was even better when they liked him enough to remind him how well he was doing, praise had gotten him through his first three years of high school. It kept his motivation high and god was he glad for it.
Mr.Duns class was full when he ran in, he was panting and no one payed attention to him as he leaned against the doorway to catch his breath. He glanced at the clock. One minute, one minute before to bell would ring. He made it.
Mr.Dun was no where to be seen, his desk completely bare. The chatter was quiet and he was quick to shove his loose green backpack underneath his chair after having pulled all his stuff out and placed it neatly on his desk.
Everything had a place and he knew himself enough to know that having his school supplies organized would heighten his concentration throughout class.
The bell rang and he felt a tap at his shoulder, he turned and he recognized her immediately. She was a cheerleader if he remembered correctly, her eyes a piercing blue and hair a tinted pink.
"Hi." She said, her hair was tied in a high pony tail and her voice was soft, gentle and he automatically liked that about her. Tyler hadn't realized she was sitting behind him.
"Hey, uh-Jenna right?" He turned more so he could face her, hand grabbing onto the back of his chair so he could twist himself more in her direction. He liked keeping eye contact while talking, it was polite.
She blinked and then broke into a sweet smile. "Yeah! I don't think we've actually ever talked." Tyler shook his head in disbelief, shifting further in his seat.
"Impossible." He replied dimly and Jenna laughed, hand moving up to muffle the sweet sound. He's talked to everybody.
"Very possible actually. I'm not a fan of the jock type." She said, fingers moving flat on her desk. She tapped them.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Tyler asked, his eyebrows furrowed. He wasn't much of a jock, well he didn't think so.
Jenna sighed. "No offence but a lot of your basketball friends are assholes so I normally stay away from all of you guys just to be safe."
Tyler blinked. All the guys were nice in his opinion but he edged for her to go on with a tilt of his head since class hadn't started yet.
"But you're a cheerleader? how do you even stay away."
"I ignore them, i don't sit with the rest of the cheer team." She shrugged and Tyler gleamed because his assumption had been right.
"Anyways, I'm just not a fan of pick up lines, yeah?" She continued and Tyler understood and mumbled out a quiet yeah.
She smiled at him. "I'm not a fan of getting cat-called by them either."
"No respect. Get your boys in line Joseph." She tsked and patted his messy hair down.
"Will do." He said, he cleared his throat for a moment, voice hoarse from the little amount of talking he'd done this morning. He'd been quiet during practice.
"Thanks." She said and he wasn't sure how he was going to get them in line as she had said but he'd figure it out. He felt almost guilty although he knew he couldn't control a whole group of people to that extent, being team captain wasn't supposed to reach that far out but he'd try his best. Especially since Jenna was a cheerleader. His responsibility.
"Hey, now what do you think about him?" She asked, she was leaning just slightly closer.
He raised his eyebrows in confusion before his mind lit up. His head still hurt.
"Mr.Dun?" Tyler asked knowingly, who else would she be talking out. She nodded, her nails close to her mouth. Tyler spoke up just in the slightest.
"Yeah, he's cool I guess. He's kinda young though." He said and he was going to continue on about what Lynn had told him about his teacher but he was cut off and nearly jumped when a familiar voice was heard behind him.
"That's because I am."
Tyler flushed red, embarrassed and just slightly confused. Jenna sent him an apologetic look as he turned around to face the front of the class. How long had he been standing there, how had Jenna not seen him.
Mr.Dun stood there, a lot closer than Tyler had anticipated. His hair a pink mess, large binder balancing between his arms. His eyes narrowed on Tyler and Tyler practically shrunk in his seat, slumping back into it. He melted. Tyler couldn't look away but Mr.Dun did that for him as he addressed the rest of the class.
"Good-morning everybody." He said and everybody snapped up and went quiet. Man did he know how to handle people. All attention was on him in seconds and no one wanted to see him upset because his class wasn't listening, Tyler could tell. His classmates all wanted the new guy to like him just as much as Tyler did.
"Get your books out, fifteen minutes of reading before I start." His teacher said as he walked over to his desk and placed his stuff down. Tyler fumbled with the zipper of his bag so he could take out his book, he hadn't taken it out yet.
"And Tyler come here for a moment." Mr.Dun said, hand waving him over and god did Tyler go red once more, he was really on an embarrassment streak right now and he knew this was going to be a long day.
He took a deep breath and pinched at the bridge of his nose before getting up and shuffling over in front of Mr.Dun's desk.
"Yeah?" He breathed out, his fingers curling around the very edge of his teacher's desk.
"What're you wearing?"
"Clothes." Mr.Dun raised an amused eyebrow at him as he swivelled in his chair, arms crossed. Tyler was blushing in embrassement and it was beyond obvious as he stuttered his next words and recomposed himself.
"I-uh. I mean." Tyler looked down, he was in his basketball uniform. Shorts low on his hips, jersey tucked in messily. "My, my uniform?" He said, voice wavering. He had forgotten to change.
"Yeah, your basketball uniform." His reply was blatant and his voice was intimidating and Tyler could barely make out words because he was getting in trouble, he was in trouble.
"Did you forget one of my class rules over the weekend? Actually it's technically a school rule. Dress code."
"I, I can't wear my uniform to class?" Tyler asked. He could briefly remember something like this but he'd never gotten in trouble for wearing it so why now?
"No." He shook his head.
"Wait, why not? These are just clothes." He pinched at the fabric
"You need to go get changed." Mr.Dun said without missing a beat not willing to delve any further into the subject. Tyler got the message loud and clear. He wasn't going to argue with his teacher, especially when these were rules that he had to obey regardless.
"Now?"
"Yes, now. You're lucky i'm not giving you detention, now go on." Mr.Dun passed him a hall pass from off his desk, fingers brushing against Tyler's as he handed it over. Tyler swallowed deeply, oh my god.
He started for the door until Mr.Dun snapped his fingers, earning everybody's attention. More embarrassing. Called out in front of the entire class.
"Oh, and and your bag too. Not supposed to have it in class with you." He was leaning back in his chair now, torso more forward and Tyler couldn't help but stare for a moment he was way too attractive to work at the school.
He stared a bit too long before stuttering out "I- yeah, okay." What the hell was wrong with him today.
he pulled his stare away and he couldn't help but notice Mr.Dun looked slightly amused.
He shuffled over to his desk, bending over to grab his bag before he was speed-walking out of class.

"And then he told me to go get changed! Can you believe this guy?" Tyler ranted, he was aggressively tapping his pencil against the counters of the science lab. His lab coat was loose and almost falling off of him while Dallon's was too short.
"School rules buddy. Just cause you're team captain doesn't mean you get special treatment." Dallon said as he examined a vile of fluid that was stood up.
"I never said I wanted special treatment." He frowned. "I just don't understand why I can't wear my uniform to class. Is it offensive?"
"Look I don't know but what I do know is that you." Dallon poked his cheek. "You need to help me finish this." He gestured to the blank papers they were supposed to be writing down on. they hadn't gotten very far, well Tyler hadn't.
"What're we doing again?" He asked, he stared at the seven different liquids set in front of him and then glanced around the classroom. He looked back at Dallon who looked sympathetic.
His head was throbbing now, he wanted to sleep.
"This is not your day now is it?"
"S'going pretty bad Dal." Tyler mumbled in a small voice that he was not ashamed of at all. The day wasn't even half done and he knew it was going to feel even longer because he had to go a second basketball practice after school.
"Not feeling little though?" Dallon asked as he pulled Tyler in closer in hopes of making him feel better.
"Not yet, it's kinda there though." He responded, and after the debacle in Mr.Dun's class his headache had only worsened and he hadn't brought any advil to school with him.
"God I don't wanna be little." His hands went to his hair and he leaned into Dallon some more.
"It helps you Ty, I know you don't like it but you know you always feel better after you regress yeah?"
"Yeah, I usually do." He said not liking that it was true.
"Exactly. We have this conversation way too much but please don't try and suppress all that shit okay? Coping is coping and if you need to age down to a four year old to get stress or whatever else off your back then you do that." It was true everything Dallon was saying was true. He was always right about these things and he always knew just what to say but that didn't stop Tyler from whining and being stubborn.
"It's embarrassing though."
"More embarrassing than this morning?" Dallon asked and Tyler went still before looking up at him in disbelief.
"Uh, definitely." He scoffed and Dallon took no offence. If he was little he would've been in time out but right now he was just being stubborn.
"And that's why we avoid getting you little at school." Dallon said, almost whispering as he snaked his arms around Tyler and gave him a hug. Tyler complied and Dallon was so comforting he didn't know what he'd do without him.
