a/n, this is random but i'm thinking of starting a joshler fic based in the harry potter universe. thoughts?? (lol ive already started)
Tyler woke up near lunch time, with an overwhelming amount of energy and dinosaur socks on his feet. Someone had left them for him beside the couch and he'd immediately slipped them on when he woke up. Now, he was propelling himself across the floor around the kitchen as Brendon made breakfast.
The floor was just slippery enough and the socks were really what let him slide, and slide he did, giggling every time he nearly fell.
"Tiny, please do not crash into any of the walls. Thank you." Brendon said distractedly, flipping a pancake onto a plate.
"Kay." He said as he slipped across the floor beside the kitchen table and all the way to the wall. He laid his hands flat on it and looked back. Ashley smiled at him, sipping her coffee. He turned around and started sliding back towards Brendon but Ashley grabbed him in passing, laughing as she pulled him onto her lap and started tickling him. "He's not joking, we don't want you to get hurt so we?" Tyler squirmed, trying to get away, his smile so big his cheeks hurt. She bear hugged his waist.
Tyler wiggled and tried to pull himself away. "Lemme gooo, please please please."
Ashley poked at the sides of his waist, setting him into another fit of giggles. "Promise me to be super duper careful tiny."
"I- Ashy." He laughed, Ashley went for his armpits. "Stop, I p-pro-omise." He squealed.
"What did you say?" She asked.
"I promwise." He repeated, his cheeks red from laughter.
Ashley grinned but didn't let him go. "Good job."
He whined when she hid her face against his back. "I use big boy words Ashy." He frowned.
Ashley reluctantly let him go. Because yeah, he did use his big boy words and since he'd asked nicely, albeit being a little whiny, there was no way she could hold onto him any longer. They didn't have many rules but they did have a few. The three of them didn't feel comfortable enough to really create a real list for him to follow. They didn't want to rob Tyler of some of his first experiences he might have when he got a real caregiver.
"Fine." She poked his nose, Tyler grinned widely. "Do not fall, I'm not there to catch you."
Tyler took off again, the laminated flooring made no sounds underneath his weight as he slid towards the fridge, nearly falling backwards in the process. He looked back at Ashley who just shook her head. "Can I has some O juice?"
Brendon glanced over at him, he was now frying some bacon in a pan. Tyler had been much too busy to check up on the food he was making. He had things to do, very important things. "That depends." Brendon replied easily.
Tyler pouted, holding his hands in front of him. "Why?"
"Why does it depend?" Brendon asked, ripping off a piece of pancake and stuffing it in his mouth.
Tyler gasped, pointing at him. "Him's eating all the food!" He looked at Ashley.
"Brendon stop eating all the food." Dallon said from the doorway, clearly just woken up. His hair was messy and he was still rubbing his eyes. Everyone looked at him, Brendon being the first. His eyes went softer at the very sight of his boyfriend.
Tyler was, naturally, the one to break the silence.
"Dally!" Tyler yelled, orange juice completely forgotten as he slid over to him with his socks and ran right into his arms. Dallon was pushed back by the impact but still took Tyler into his arms and hugged him soundly.
"Hey Ty." He hugged him, letting Tyler squeeze him tightly, much too tightly. Little Tyler never knew the appropriate length for hugs or how hard he was allowed to squeeze before he was cutting off air.
Dallon smiled at Brendon. "He's very energetic this morning." He mouthed as he patted Tyler's head and let go of him.
"He's been awake for 30 minutes." Brendon yawned, leaning against the kitchen counter.
"I is energytic?" Tyler looked up, eyes big.
Dallon nodded. "Mhm, but that's okay. We love you so much."
Ashley stood up and went around the counter, going on her tiptoes to reach into a cupboard. She looked at Dallon. "Coffee?"
"Please." He said as he watched Tyler runoff.
They often had mornings like this, Tyler hadn't been this energetic in a while though. So it was nice and refreshing for all four of them. Tyler was having fun, he didn't seem stressed at all and it was clear on all his friend's faces that they were glad he was small right now because at least he was happy and at-least he wasn't anxious.
He'd probably crash later, take a nap after he tired himself out and they were all very happy to let him do so. The weekends were for him to be small, they would never tell him he couldn't be excited or that he couldn't play. They wanted to make sure little space continued to be a safe space for him and if they started restricting him from it, well, they weren't sure it would be anymore.
Brendon whistled as he poured the rest of the pancake batter into a sizzling hot pan of butter. Usually Dallon or Ashley cooked because Brendon lacked the patience to wait for the food to cook. So it was a surprise for everyone that he'd started on breakfast the moment they'd gotten downstairs. Even Tyler had looked confused. "Why is Brennie cooking?" He'd asked. Ashley had just shrugged, equally as confused. She hadn't bothered asking him about it.
Once the food was ready, Ashley kicked Tyler out of the kitchen in fear that, yes, he would crash into something, specifically the food.
So now, Tyler started sliding around the living room since he was no longer allowed in the kitchen and he wasn't allowed in the dining room either in fear that he would run straight into the expensive rack of wine. So he'd compromised and ran into the living room with the promise of "Slippery floors." Brendon had said.
He jumped onto the couch and then jumped into a sitting position when he felt his phone vibrate in his pocket. Had Josh texted him? No way, he quickly attempted to pull his phone out of his pocket. Tyler struggled as it got stuck but once it was free he stared at the message.
It was from his mom.
Lunch is cancelled tomorrow. Love you.
sent 12:43 PM
Tyler pouted and his eyes started to water, that wasn't fair. He vaguely aged back up from the text, he hadn't really wanted to go out for lunch with his mom and dad but it was more that he wanted them to want to spend time with him. Clearly, he still didn't matter enough to not be canceled on. At least now he didn't have to go back home until Monday night.
He went back to the dining room, not bothering to lift his feet as he walked. They just shuffled along as he sighed dramatically once he sat at the table in his usual spot.
"Tiny, you okay?" Brendon asked, placing a sippy cup of orange juice in front of him.
Tyler shrugged, grabbing it and then taking a sip. "Okay."
He looked at the delicious breakfast in front of him, he wasn't even hungry anymore. Brendon was looking at him expectantly, Tyler could hear Ashley and Dallon in the kitchen.
"I need to call my mom." He said, getting up from his chair, it scraped against the floor as he stood up.
Brendon sighed, placing a hand on his shoulder. "Ty-"
"I'll be fine." Tyler said with a small smile. "I'll be back up in a few minutes."
"Just, don't take too long." Brendon smiled sadly, leaving him to go to the kitchen.
Tyler went to the basement with no plans to call his mom, he had nothing to say to her right now. He just wanted to be little again, he just wanted to talk to Josh right now and he didn't know why. Josh would be able to age him back down, just being in the same room as him seemed to have that effect.
He curled up on the couch, grabbing the stuffed lion and setting him in his lap. He texted Josh.
it's the morning, can i facetime now? please josh

Good-morning sweetie. It's actually lunch time but yes, of course. Sorry I didn't text you earlier, I literally just woke up.

Tyler giggled happily. He went to facetime him and he held his phone camera so it panned in on the stuffed lion in his lap as he waited for the call to connect. He really hoped no one came downstairs, he doubted any of his friends would though. They knew better than to interrupt when he was calling his mom.
Josh's screen loaded and Tyler smiled when he saw him, he smiled so hard his cheeks hurt. Josh was still in bed, he looked cozy and Tyler was instantly jealous. He'd love to go back to sleep but he had breakfast to eat. He wished that Josh could cuddle him.
"Hi Josh." He said after a long moment, pouting even though Josh couldn't see him. A wave of embarrassment soared through him, this was his first real time talking to him outside of school. Even if it was over the phone.
"Where are you?" Josh asked, poking at the camera of his phone.
"I'm here." Tyler said, pointing his phone at his legs. He was still in his basketball uniform from the day before, he hadn't even bothered to get changed, he'd been much too exhausted.
"I don't see you."
Tyler groaned behind his phone. "But it's me."
"Where?" Josh asked, clearly trying not to laugh.
"Here, it's my hand." Tyler dramatically waved his hand in front of his phone.
Josh smiled at him through the screen. "You could be anyone." He sighed dramatically.
Tyler pouted, thrusting his hand in front of his phone again, he curled and uncurled his fingers. "But, look, it's mine. My hand!"
"And look." He grabbed the lion and pushed its face up and close to the camera. "My lion!"
"I don't know if I believe you, I'm sure you're just as cute as Tyler though," Josh said.
"I'm Tyler," Tyler said confused, he thought he was Josh's only Tyler. Had Josh lied?
"You are?" Josh asked, he readjusted his side of the camera. Bringing it further away from his face. Tyler blushed when he realized that Josh wasn't wearing a shirt but he just giggled instead of saying anything.
"Look at my thumb." Tyler said after a moment, as though his thumb would prove Josh of his identity. He did an aggressive thumbs up and showed Josh. "No one else has a thumb like this."
"No?" Josh asked, amused as he walked around in what Tyler guessed was his bedroom.
"No." Tyler frowned, focusing his phone's camera on his thumb until Josh wouldn't be able to see anything else.
"Tyler does though."
Tyler flipped the camera around, so Josh could finally see his face, he was pouting dramatically. "But i'm Tyler." He said loudly.
"Ah, there you are." Josh smiled brightly at him, somehow managing to speed Tyler's heart rate up over a phone screen. "Hey there baby boy."
Tyler blushed furiously and then grinned, pushing his shyness to the side. "Here I am." No one had ever called him baby boy and he felt so happy that Josh had been the first. He was happy that Josh was going to be his firsts for a bunch of different things, he trusted him already.
"Am I really cute?" Tyler asked, flushed, not used to receiving compliments from people that weren't his friends.
"The cutest little baby." Josh said easily, he hadn't even paused.
"Really?"
Josh nodded. "Mhm, have you eaten yet?" He asked curiously. Tyler oddly felt very comfortable and it was rare that he felt comfortable in little space with people that weren't Dallon, Ashley or Brendon.
Tyler shook his head, but then he remembered that he still had juice. He grabbed it off of the floor, the sippy cup's contents still safe inside. "Juice is food?" He showed Josh to juice.
Josh smiled. "Juice is actually not food pumpkin."
He sipped some more, cautiously holding the sippy cup with two hands, his phone being awkwardly held somewhere in between. "I can eat it though." Tyler sipped some more.
"No you drink it, you drink juice and you eat food." Josh clarified.
"I can't eat juice?" Tyler asked.
Josh laughed. "You can try to chew it."
Tyler nodded, he knew he could eat the juice. He held his phone in front of him and took a big sip of juice, attempting to chew on it, grinding his teeth together. Josh was laughing.
"I did it!" Tyler said, throwing his sippy cup away from him. He made an o with his mouth as the lid fell off and some of the orange juice begun spilling. Dallon could clean it up later.
"Good boy, I'm very impressed."
"Tank you."
"Are you little now?" Josh whispered quietly, leaning against a pillow, clearly back in bed, his palm was holding his chin. And he seemed proud of himself, Tyler wished he could go see him and give him a great big hug.
Tyler nodded shyly, not even remembering when he'd transitioned back, he doesn't remember.
"Do you want to introduce me to your stuffed animal?" Josh asked.
Tyler gasped, no one had ever asked him to meet his stuffed animals. Excitedly, Tyler put his phone down and grabbed his stuffed lion before picking his phone back up. "Him?" He asked with a grin, squishing the stuffed lions face against his.
"Yes."
"Ok." Tyler nodded, grabbing his lion and holding him against his cheek. "But him isn't my favorite."
Josh smiled. "That's okay baby boy, you can show me your favorite another day."
"You really wants to meet him?" Tyler sat up and crossed his legs, getting comfortable.
"Of course I do! Why wouldn't I?"
Tyler shrugged suddenly feeling embarrassed. "Cuz it's silly."
"No it's not little bee."
"Okay." He shyly grabbed the lion again, feeling reassured by Josh's praise. "This is sunshine," Tyler said, cuddling the stuffed animal happily. This was one of the only stuffed animals that he didn't bring back home with him, he always kept sunshine at Brendon's. He was basically Tyler's emergency stuffy for whenever Brendon didn't have time to drive Tyler to his house so he could grab his favorite one.
"Tyler," Ashley yelled from the top of the stairs. "Come eat!" Tyler jumped in his spot, looking at Josh who's eyes peaked in interest at what he'd just heard. He didn't want to leave Josh yet, they'd just started talking.
"No." Tyler yelled loudly, hoping Ashley could hear him. "Nuh-Uh, I'm busy!"
Josh looked at him, for a second Tyler thought Josh was going to be mad at him. He wasn't being very nice to Ashley but for the moment Josh seemed to find it funny as an amused smirk graced his lips. "I think someone's calling you upstairs."
Tyler shook his head. "I didn't hear nothing."
"Hey listen, if you go upstairs. We can always talk later, maybe I can tell you a bedtime story tonight. But only if you're good."
"Bedtime story?" Tyler gasped with wide eyes, he hadn't gotten one in a while and he knew that if Josh read him one, it would be better than all the other times Ashley or Brendon had read to him. Josh was quickly beating out his friends as caregivers, but that wasn't to say that they weren't good at taking care of him. They were amazing at it, having Josh around was just different, he felt safer and more secure in his little space already and it had barely been a day. Having an actual caregiver was different than having his friends care for him because they had to.
"Yeah, a really good one," Josh promised genuinely.
"Tyler, don't make me come down there," Ashley yelled again. She definitely would come get him. He knew her well enough. The few times he had been bratty had resulted in Dallon throwing him over his shoulder to carry him to where he was needed. Tyler wouldn't lie, he'd kind of enjoyed it.
"Go be a good boy okay little one? I'll call you later."
Tyler nodded sadly, he really, really didn't want to stop talking to Josh. He was nice and pretty and he liked him. "Mkay."
"Bye pumpkin." Josh smiled before hanging up. Tyler, despite being upset smiled widely and huffed as he fell back against the couch, his stuffed lion still trapped against his chest. Josh was amazing, he was already so good at this and Tyler really hadn't been expecting it but he was so happy. He wished Josh was here right now but he'd have to make due without him.
