012. Would you still love me the same? (Jinkook)
A heated moment leaves Jungkook wondering if Jin still loves him the same.
~~~
The air in the room was tense, crackling like a storm about to erupt. Jin crossed his arms, his face composed but his tone firm. “Jungkook, I’m saying this for your own good. You can’t just ignore everyone else’s input because you think you know better. That’s not how a team works.”
Jungkook, standing with his fists clenched at his sides, shot back, “I know what I’m doing, hyung. Why don’t you trust me for once?!”
“I do trust you, but that doesn’t mean you can dismiss everyone else’s ideas just because—”
“Maybe I wouldn’t dismiss them if they actually made sense!” Jungkook interrupted, his voice rising. His frustration bubbled over, fueling words he couldn’t take back even as they left his mouth. “And you, you think you know everything just because you’re the oldest, but you don’t! You’re not always right, Jin-hyung!”
The sharpness of his words echoed in the room like a slap. Jin froze, his expression flickering from shock to something Jungkook couldn’t quite place.
Hurt?
Disappointment?
Jungkook felt a pang of regret immediately, but his pride kept him from stopping. He turned on his heel and stormed out, slamming the door behind him.
---
The rest of the day was a haze. Jungkook couldn’t focus, couldn’t settle. Guilt weighed heavy on his chest, growing thicker with every passing hour. The memory of Jin’s expression played on repeat in his mind.
He replayed the argument in his head over and over, each time regretting the harshness of his tone and the sharpness of his words. Jin didn’t deserve that. None of it.
By the time evening fell, the guilt was suffocating. Jungkook sat on the edge of his bed, his head in his hands. He hated himself for losing control, for disrespecting someone who had only ever looked out for him.
“Does he hate me now?” The thought made his chest tighten. He blinked back tears, but they slipped out anyway.
Before he could overthink further, his legs carried him out of his room and toward Jin’s door. His heart pounded as he raised his fist to knock but hesitated. What if Jin didn’t want to see him? What if he’d gone too far this time?
Steeling himself, Jungkook knocked softly. “Hyung?” His voice cracked.
“Come in,” Jin’s voice called, calm but unreadable.
Jungkook pushed the door open and stepped inside. Jin was sitting on the couch, a book in his hands. He looked up, his face neutral, but his eyes softened slightly when he saw Jungkook.
“Hyung…” Jungkook started, his voice shaky. He couldn’t hold back anymore. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean what I said earlier. I was angry and—and I took it out on you. You didn’t deserve that.”
Jin closed the book and set it aside, watching Jungkook silently.
“I’m so sorry,” Jungkook continued, his voice breaking. “I’m so angry at myself for saying those things. I shouldn’t have. You’ve always been there for me, and I repaid you by being horrible. I—” He took a shaky breath, his vision blurring with tears. “Do you still love me the same?”
Jin’s expression softened completely, and he stood up, walking over to Jungkook. Without a word, he pulled him into a tight hug.
“Jungkook,” Jin said softly, his hand gently patting the younger’s back, “of course I still love you. Nothing you say in anger will change that.”
Jungkook buried his face in Jin’s shoulder, his tears soaking into the fabric of Jin’s shirt. “I was so scared you wouldn’t.”
Jin pulled back just enough to look Jungkook in the eyes, his hands resting firmly on his shoulders. “You’re human, Kook. We all have moments when we say things we don’t mean. What matters is that you reflect on it, and you did. That’s what counts.”
“But I hurt you,” Jungkook whispered, guilt still evident in his tone.
Jin smiled faintly, brushing a tear off Jungkook’s cheek. “You did, but I know you didn’t mean it. And I know you’ll learn from this. Just... talk to me next time before it gets to this point, okay?”
Jungkook nodded, his throat tight. “I will. I promise.”
Jin pulled him into another hug, holding him close. “You’re like my little brother, Jungkook. Nothing you do will ever change how much I care about you.”
For the first time that day, Jungkook felt a weight lift off his chest. In Jin’s embrace, he found the reassurance he’d been craving—that no matter what, love and forgiveness would always be there.
The end!
