First Stage
It was the next morning and Senna was having breakfast with Mike. "So..." He asked. Senna frowned not knowing what Mike was asking. The boy rolled his eyes. "When will you start the plan to get closer to Lando?"
"Oh, yeah, well, I talked with Charles yesterday and he told me he was going to start the plan today after the first free practice." She explained.
"You've already talk with Charles?" He asked kind of surprised. Senna nodded. "I didn't expect to be that soon, you know?"
"The faster the better, I guess." Hamilton shrugged.
A small smiled started to form on Mike's lips. "That's what she said."
Senna looked at him without emotion and then rolled her eyes. "You're such a child, Michael." She stood up and started to walk towards the exit of the hotel restaurant. "I'm leaving, are you coming with me?"
"Sure." Mike stood up and followed the girl.
The first free practice was done, both Williams seemed to have a decent pace. Senna walked straight to the Mercedes garage to finally start with the plan. She greeted all the mechanics and made her way to George. "Hello Georgie boy, how's it going?"
"Oh, mini Hamilton, what brings you here?" He asked. "And everything is going okay, thanks."
"You know, I always loved being here, I grew up in the Mercedes family." She smiled at him. It was true, even though Senna was racing with Williams, she grew up in Mercedes with her dad. She was always in the Mercedes hospitality, she knew everyone on her father's team, Toto Wolff and Valtteri Bottas were practically family to her, and she grew close to George when he was still in talks to become a Mercedes driver.
"I'm guessing you're looking for your dad, am I right?" He asked.
Senna smiled. "...Not quite." George looked at her a bit confused. "I was looking for you actually." She smiled innocently.
"For me?" Senna nodded. "What can I do for you, little Sen?" He asked and Senna remembered Charles called her like that the night before, she decided to brush it off.
"Oh nothing much, just talk, you know?" The girl started walking around the garage. "I haven't talk much with other drivers that aren't my dad, Seb or Mike, so I thought maybe talking to someone else was good."
"You're right, we all noticed you don't talk much... well not me, I've known you for a while now, so I know you're a bit reserved, but the others don't know that, so I think is good you're willing to talk to the others." He smiled. "Come, lets go to the hospitality." Both drivers exited the garage and made their wat towards said place. "So tell me, how's it going with your team?" George asked. " I know what it feels like to be at Williams and maybe not always being satisfied with the car, but it prepares you for the future."
"It has been a challenge, but the car seems to have made some improvements these past races so I can't complain. Everyone is so welcoming and funny since I first step into the team, I have such a good time in the meetings, and you know, Alex is such a funny person, I'm glad he's my teammate." A smiled escaped her lips. "I always try to look at the positive side, I know not everyone starts their career in a top team, like you, you started right where I am and now you're in Mercedes, so I don't worry that much, I am a patient person."
George smiled at her. "I like your attitude." Senna smiled. "And I also heard you've received a few other offers from other teams, am I right?" The girl nodded. "See? Maybe you wont have to wait that long." He was going to keep talking but the sound of his phone ringing interrupted their conversation. "I'm sorry, it's Charles..." He showed her the screen and answered the phone. Senna knew this was the start of the plan, and she was ready. After a few more seconds on the phone, George hung up. "Well mini Hamilton, it seems this is your opportunity to make some new friends... you want to come with me and hung out for a while with Charles..." Well, certainly not with him, she thought. "...And Lando?"
She let out a small smile. "Sure, why not?"
Game on.
Once they arrived where the two other drivers where, Charles talked. "George." He greeted the British driver. "Oh, hello Senna, I didn't expect to see you here." He faked a smile.
"We were together so I invited her to come with us." George explained.
"Well, its nice to finally talk to you." Lando smiled at her, causing her to smile too.
"Hello guys, are you doing good?" She asked both of them.
"Yeah, it was a good practice for us." Lando answered.
For everyone on the paddock, the rivalry between Charles and Senna was over, it was something from the past, from when they were more immature, now that both had their sponsors, the rivalry was over. But what they didn't know was that the rivalry between Charles Leclerc and Senna Hamilton was nowhere to be over, it was just in... pause. They still couldn't stand each other, its just that the new season has both of them so busy they barely have time to make each other's life miserable. Well, the only ones who knew this rivalry was still active, were Mike and Kimi Raikkonen, but neither will say a word about it, so for now, Senna and Charles were safe.
"So Charles, how do you feel being the championship leader right now?" George asked the Monegasque.
A proud smile appeared on Charles' face making Senna roll her eyes discreetly, but the action didn't go unnoticed by the Ferrari driver. "It's amazing, I wasn't expecting the car being so fast, and certainly wasn't expecting the Red Bull's downfall."
"I wouldn't call it downfall, it seems they are getting better by now, I wouldn't be surprised if they win this race." Lando answered, causing Charles' smile to drop. Senna wanted to laugh, she liked Lando even more now. "I'm just stating facts, mate." He shrugged.
"He has a fair point, even though Max had a DNF last race, Checo's pace looked good." Senna agreed with Lando.
Charles wanted to answer her, but he knew it was a good thing Lando and Senna were agreeing on something. I'm only doing this because I like the idea of Senna owing me, he said to himself.
"Well..." The Monegasque started but was quickly interrupted by his phone ringing. "Give me a sec." He said while stepping away and answered the call.
"So, have you met before?" George asked Lando and Senna. They both nodded. "I mean, not met cause you certainly did since you were both here last season, I meant, have you talk before?"
"Yeah, I mean we know each other cause, you know, Mike's his teammate, but I don't think we've ever sit down and have a proper conversation." Senna answered first trying hard to not let the nerves taking over her body become noticeable.
Lando smiled. "And it's not like I had the opportunity to talk to her since she's always with Mike or Lewis." He joked. "But it's okay, now's the time to get to know each other, right?" He asked directly at Senna and she nodded with a barely noticeable blush on her cheeks.
What in the world is happening to me?
George seemed to notice the interaction between Lando and Senna and a small smile appeared on his face. "I'm glad you decided to open up for more people to get to know you better!"
"Yeah, I guess it was time. After one whole season and three races I think it's only fair to start to become more social." She joked.
"Not only one season and three races, you've been in the paddock longer than me!" Lando added. "Even if you weren't racing at the time, you were here before a lot of the current drivers on the grid."
"Yeah, well, I practically grew up between different paddocks and circuits, so I've been around my whole life, but in those years it wasn't really necessary to get along with others that weren't the Mercedes' team." Senna shrugged.
"That's why she's Mercedes princess, even if she's now in another team!" George joked making Lando laugh.
"Well, I'm glad you decided to talk to me before the others." A genuine smile appeared on his face. "I feel honored." He joked.
A chuckle escaped from Senna's lips. "You should be."
A few seconds later, Charles came back to them. "I need to go to the hotel, Carlos says he's having some trouble to get in, he said something like the security guards not letting him in, I don't know..."
"There's no way!" Lando mocked his friend. "I would love to see that, I'm coming!"
Senna looked at Charles with doubt. This was not going the way they've planned. "I was going to ask George since you were chatting with Senna." He said. "I will make sure to record it and send it to you so you don't miss it."
"You're right, that would be so impolite from my part, now that you want to talk to others." Lando said looking at the girl. The McLaren driver was intrigued by Lewis Hamilton's daughter to say the least, so if talking to her meant to let go the opportunity to make fun of Carlos, he was willing to miss it.
"So, you're coming?" Charles asked George who nodded. He saw something in Senna while talking to Lando, and he didn't want to interfere. "Right, we'll be back right before the second Free Practice."
The two men disappeared, leaving Lando and Senna alone. "So, tell me, how is it having Mike as a teammate?" She asked, genuinely curious.
"He's cool, he's funny, but sometimes you can definitely see that he's 18." He joked.
The girl smiled. "You're talking like you were 46 and not 22." She laughed. "It's only four years."
"I know, I know, but he has a lot of hope on the team, and sometimes he can have so much energy that it's almost impossible to keep up with him." He said. "Oh god, I'm starting to sound like a bitter older brother!"
"I know he can be a little childish sometimes, but he's a good kid." Senna added. "And now I'm the one that sound 46 and not 19." She said mocking herself.
Lando let out a laugh. "You're talking like you weren't just one year older than him."
They kept talking for a long time. Senna realized it wasn't hard to talk to him, at least when she knew her father wasn't around. And Lando realized they got so much in common and she was so easy to talk to. That day was the start of a strong friendship.
On the other hand, George and Charles were walking towards the hotel. "Why do I feel like there's no security guards impeding Carlos to go through?" The British one asked.
"Because there aren't, I just needed to leave Lando and Senna alone." Charles said in a disinterested tone.
"And why is that?"
"She kinda has a crush on him and she doesn't want Lewis to know, so you better keep your mouth shut if we want this plan to work out."
"And you just decided to help her... just like that." George teased. "Last I remember is you hated her and she hated you."
"Yeah well, we've been way to busy to remember we hate each other, so we kinda make a deal. That's why I'm helping her." The Monegasque shrugged.
"Are you sure its only that?"
"Yeah, what else would it be?" He answered. "She now owes me a favor, I have the upper hand right now."
"Yeah, whatever."
George Russell felt that there was something more to it than just a favor, and he was willing to find out.
He saw Lando's and Senna's interaction right before, but he knew that deep inside, Charles had other reasons to help her.
George was making his new mission to find out more about Senna and Charles. After all, he saw something.
