'sure!' littlekit mewed, padding over to grousekit with him.

the three kits began to play until sunset, then falconflight stopped them.

'time to sleep.' she purred, 'you can play more in the morning.'

littlekit and her brothers padded over to the nest, curled up, and fell asleep.

a sudden yowl outside of the nursery made littlekit wake up. she tiredly looked around, glancing out of the nursery.

outside, she could faintly see an apprentice speaking frantically to the leader. beigepaw and cricketstar, she believed.

littlekit listened for a moment, hearing beigepaw talk about scenting something strange. she wondered what it was, but didn't bother to go ask.

the kit still felt tired, so she curled back up by her mother and littermates and went to sleep.

littlekit later was woken up again by her older brother, grousekit.

'littlekit! come on, me, otterkit, and kestrelkit are sneaking out. are you coming?' he quietly hissed at her, 'you're not a mouse-heart like condorkit, right?'

'uhh... okay, i'll go.' she agreed nervously, standing up and stretching. she followed the other kits out of the nursery and into the dark camp.

kestrelkit quickly made sure there wasn't a warrior at the entrance of camp, and when he said there wasn't the whole group left.

'where do you think we should go?' kestrelkit whispered, looking up at silverpelt and then glancing around the territory.

'mother says we should listen to littlekit more, so she should choose.' otterkit mewed, causing all three of them to look expectantly at littlekit.

'oh, okay, uh...' she glanced around, seeing three notable spots.
