We're on the borderline
Dangerously far and all forgiven
There's gonna be a fight
Gonna be a price to pay on Monday (If you and I get comfortable)
When the two returned back to Leora's new apartment, Leora immediately grabbed two extra slices of pepperoni pizza that were wrapped up in the fridge and heated them up, before bringing them over to the couch and besides Jacque who was going through his camera roll.
Leora took a bite out of the pizza and then nodded towards the camera. "You're a photographer?"
Jacque shrugged. "Yeah, I take photos every so often. I mainly do scenery pictures. I don't know, anything that captures my attention."
Leora placed the pizza back down onto the plate and turned towards him. "Take one of me?"
Jacque looked up at her. "Are you sure?"
Leora shrugged. "Yeah, go for it."
Jacque held his camera up to his face as Leora smiled lightly at it. The camera clicked before he brought it back down to have a look at the photo. He passed it to Leora. "Is this alright?"
Leora smiled and nodded. "It's great! You're pretty good at this. I might even make it my new Facebook profile picture."
Jacque chuckled lightly. "Thank you. I'm planning on studying photography in college."
"You'll do great."
The front door suddenly opened and the two teenagers turned around and spotted Dinah Lance walking through the door wearing a black pantsuit and a briefcase and a plastic bag in her hands. She stopped upon noticing the two teenagers on the couch, and slowly shut the door as she looked at Leora.
"Hey, mom," Leora greeted.
"Hi, Leora," she walked further into the room and placed her briefcase and bag on the counter. "Who's your friend?"
"Oh, this is Jacque. I met him at school today."
Jacque smiled lightly. " Um, hi. It's nice to meet you, Ms Lance."
Dinah smiled politely and nodded at the teenage boy. "You too, Jacque." She then looked at her daughter. "I'm sorry, Leora, but I've organised us a dinner reservation for five."
Leora knew what she meant when she said that, and her face fell flat. "Really?"
Jacque leapt off of the couch though, scrambling to grab his bag and slice of pizza in the process. "That's fine! It was great coming over."
Leora frowned. "Are you sure?"
"Yeah, it's alright. I'll see you at school tomorrow," he hurried towards the door and as he passed, said, "Thank you for having me over, Ms Lance," to Dinah.
She smiled in response. "Call me Laurel."
He nodded with a smile. "Bye." And left the apartment.
Leora let out a loud sigh and gave her mother an exasperated look. "Really, mom? First friend I make and you kick him out?"
She didn't respond to her question, however she crossed her arms across her chest. "Where's Dick? I thought you'd be hanging out with him and his friends?"
"You mean his friends who are total assholes?" Dinah lowered her head at that. "Yeah, sure."
"I'm sorry to hear that."
Leora shrugged. "It's fine. He's not like them which is the main thing. Now do we actually have a dinner reservation tonight or is it something else?"
"Something else," Dinah responded. "Bruce wants you and Dick to patrol together tonight while Bruce and I patrol another part of Gotham just so that Dick can show you around."
"Sounds like so much fun," Leora sarcastically said.
"You know it always is," she then smirked and rose an eyebrow, "especially when you get to spend so much time with Dick."
Leora's eyes widened. "Mom!"
"You like him, Leora. A mother can tell."
"Just....stop. Please?" Leora begged. "I don't want to be thinking about my best friend like that."
Dinah held her hands up in surrender. "Alright, alright. I won't." She turned around. "If it makes you feel better, he likes you, too."
Leora scoffed. "Say that to one of his friends at school. Pretty sure they're sleeping with each other."
"Oh. If you're so sure about that..."
"I am. He kinda told me."
"Okay." She opened up one of the bags that she placed on the counter, and the smell of Indian food made its way through Leora's senses. "Well, here's your dinner. Eat up and then get ready. We're leaving in thirty minutes."

Leora Lance and Dick Grayson, suited up in their Green Starling and Robin suits respectively, stood on top of one of Gotham's many buildings as they waited for crime to happen in their area. Dick had just finished showing Leora around that side of the city and they took out a few small gangs for the night and the time was only 2am. The two were awfully silent, which was weird for the two best friends who were constantly told off by Bruce Wayne or Dinah Lance for talking too much during a mission. Leora suspected that Dick was either angry or annoyed with her, and she wasn't wrong.
After the two had been sitting on the rooftop as they waited for a drug deal to go down for five minutes in complete silence, Leora broke it. "Why're you shitty with me?" She asked, turning to face him.
"I'm not shitty with you," he replied instantly, in a tone that Leora instantly recognised as the one he used in front of Bruce majority of the time.
"Yeah right," Leora said, before sighing. "What did I do this time?"
"Nothing." At the look Leora gave him, Dick sighed. "Why don't you like my friends?"
Leora pursed her lips. "I never said that."
"It's kind of obvious."
Leora sighed. "It's not that I don't like them, okay? It's just that I don't know them yet."
Dick scoffed. "You warmed up to Jacque quite nicely."
Leora chuckled. "Is that it? You're jealous of Jacque?"
Dick snorted. "I'm not jealous of Jacque. Why would I ever be jealous of him? He's no one at school."
"That says so much about you."
Dick turned back around to look down the alleyway. "Yeah, whatever."
"He seems like a good guy," Leora told him. "Maybe if you gave him a chance?"
"Shh. People are here."
Leora looked down the alleyway and noticed two groups walking towards each other. One group had approximately five men while the other one had seven. They began to talk to each other about a new drug on the street that teenagers were using. Leora was familiar with it. She heard some of the people at her school talking about something called 'Nightshade', a blue powder that was killing at least a dozen people a night.
Dick smacked Leora's arm and pointed towards the group of five. Leora nodded and the two jumped from the roof, using the fire escapes to make their way down to the two vans in front of them. The groups of men jumped when Leora and Dick landed onto the vans. They pointed their guns at the two before looking above them. "Where's the Bat? Where's the Canary?" The men kept asking one another, looking at anyone but Leora and Dick.
"It's just us losers," Dick yelled out.
A man in front of one of the groups chuckled. "These two little sidekicks are the only ones here."
"You two lost?"
"Easy takeout," a man said as he walked up to Leora.
She smirked at him. "You might wanna regret saying that."
Leora was the first to strike as she head butted the man in front of her. Dick immediately sprung into the action and the two flew around and between the men, throwing punches and hitting them with their weapons. The two worked really well as a team, sometimes even using each other for support if another had to fight off another man. Once all of them were down, Dick jumped up. "I reckon it's home time now."
Leora stared at him before turning around. "You read my mind."

The next day at school, Leora sat in the library across from Jacque with a coffee in hand. Her eyes were on the verge of closing, and if it wasn't for the warmth of the takeaway cup of coffee on her skin, she would be asleep.
"What time did you go to sleep last night?" Jacque asked Leora with a concerned face.
"Around four."
Jacque's eyes widened. "What the hell. Why?"
Leora shrugged. "Had some homework to do and also had more boxes to unpack."
Jacque nodded and watched as Leora took a long sip of her coffee. "Where did you come from again?"
"Star City."
Jacque sat up at that. "You...ahh...have your own superheroes over there as well, don't you?"
Leora rose her eyebrow. "I'd call them vigilante's but, yeah, I guess so."
"I think they're the...ahh...Green Arrow and Black Canary, with Arsenal and Green Starling as their sidekicks."
Leora chuckled. "Alright you geek, and what about your vigilante?"
"You mean Batman? Yeah, I've bought a replica of Batman's batarang as well as Robin's throwing R," Jacque said brightly.
"Did someone say 'Robin'?"
Leora hung her head at the voice. "No, you loser. Stay out of it."
Dick stopped at the end of their table with a card in his hand, twirling it around. "Are you a fan of Batman as well?" Jacque asked him.
Dick shrugged. "Batman's alright. I definitely prefer Robin. I mean Batman is a full grown adult whereas Robin is younger, maybe even possibly our age. You have to imagine the bravery that kid has."
Jacque hummed. "Yeah, you got a point."
"Well I think Batman's definitely cooler," Leora said, raising an eyebrow up at Dick. "He's got the full black suit and you can barely see him, whereas Robin is like a beacon with his red, green and yellow. I mean seriously? Those colour choices are hideous."
Dick crossed his arms. "Alright. Well if we're talking about beacons, then we should definitely mention Black Canary's sidekick. As far as I'm concerned, the Green Starling has a pretty shitty costume. And let's not forget about the name. Green Starling? She basically copied Green Arrow's name and just added the Star part from where she came from."
Leora narrowed her eyes. "What if she didn't have a choice in the matter? What if she wasn't allowed to choose her name and the colour of her costume?"
"Same thing could be said with Robin."
Leora leaned back in her seat and brought the coffee up to her lips. "Well girls are better anyway."
Jacque looked between the two best friends, who were currently having a glaring competition, waiting for the other one to break.
"Umm, I'm just, ah, I'm gonna go," Jacque said quietly as he began to gather his things.
"No, Jacque, it's okay," Leora said and held her hand out to stop him. "Dick is just being, well, a dick."
"Ha, real original," Dick sarcastically responded.
Leora smirked. "Thank you."
Dick started playing with the card again. "Anyway, I came over here to ask you to Bruce's gala that's coming up but I guess you don't wanna go now."
Leora rose her eyebrows as she picked up a pen. "Are you serious?" She quickly threw it at his head, and Dick quickly caught it just before it could hit him,
"Nice catch," Jacque commented with wide eyes.
"You absolute fucker," Leora said with a shake of her head. "You started that fight up deliberately when you could've just told me straight away about the dance."
Dick smirked. "Eh, you're easy to rile up." Leora rolled her eyes as Dick held out the invitation to her. "So, you coming or not? I'd hate to be forced to third wheel Donna and Garth."
Leora pursed her lips before grabbing it. "I guess."
Dick grabbed Leora and hugged her, causing the girl to squirm and beg for him to let her go. "Thank you, you're a lifesaver." He pulled apart. "Your mom's invited, naturally, and it starts at 8pm, although Donna and Garth and company are getting there earlier at about 7pm. We're doing pres in my room."
Leora waved him off. "Yeah, yeah, yeah. Now leave you dork."
Dick grinned one more time before he ran out of the library. Jacque frowned at Leora as she looked back at him. "You two have a weird friendship."
Leora smiled as she looked down at the invite. "Tell me about it."
