━━━regan rosier!

REGAN ROSIER HAD always valued love and friendship above all — she had always known it was because she had raised in a loving household, which her best friend had not, so she could understand why he seemed to love Sirius so much, Sirius was the first source of parental love he received. Sirius was kind, patient and loyal, but only to people he liked.

Thank Salazar he liked Regan then.

Regan didn't like him very much though, growing up with Lorelei Black — she simply could not. Not until Lorelei allowed her to anyway, she felt like Lorelei deserved that. When Harry got a message from Sirius, telling him to meet him at Hogsmeade — Regan did the first thing she thought she should.

"Do you want to come?" asked Regan, Lorelei turned to look at her, "I know a cave isn't really an ideal place for first time father-daughter bonding, but hey, better than Azkaban, right?"

"No, thanks" Lorelei put a piece of gum that turns into different animals when blown up in her mouth, "I already have a long lost parent to deal with"

"It could be fun?" Birdie offered, and Regan turned to look at her, Lorelei did too, "Alright, fine it would suck"

"Besides, if he wanted me there he would've asked me to meet him too" Lorelei played with her fingers, looking up after plastering a hard look on her face, "And he didn't so..."

"Alright" Regan nodded at her and then walked back to Harry who was standing outside the Hufflepuff common room, refusing to come inside because Hufflepuffs still gave him the stink eye, "She's not coming" said Regan.

"Thought so" Harry said, both of them started walking towards the Gryffindor Common Room to get Hermione and Ron and make their way to Hogsmeade, "She doesn't like Sirius very much"

"Well, he hasn't really given her a reason to like him, so" Regan said bitterly, Harry turned to look at her — things had been rather weird between the two since the article.

"What do you mean?" Harry said, an offended look on his face, "He's a great guy, he's lovable, caring..."

"...an absent father" Regan completed for him, a sharp look in her eyes, just like her mother's, "Sirius is an amazing uncle, Harry, he is, but he's a terrible father"

"That's not true" Harry frowned, "He loves Lorelei!"

"Then why doesn't he tell her that?" Regan stopped walking turning to face Harry with a furious look on her face, she'd had enough out of him for today, "I don't see him making any kind of effort but you know what I did see? I saw her crying at night because he didn't send her one letter, I saw her crying everytime he missed a dance recital, I saw her crying...you didn't, you didn't see the kind of shit Lorelei went through all because of her dad 'who loves her very much', so frankly I don't think you have a say in this matter"

"He had to leave her for my parents, Regan" Harry said, his brows furrowed, "He didn't leave because he purposely wanted Lorelei to live her life alone"

A pair of students turned to look at them with a confused expression, the entirety of Hogwarts in the four years had never ever seen Harry Potter and Regan Rosier fight, the two were as close as friends can be — sure, little arguments here and there were common, but not full blown fights.

"Your parents were announced dead, Harry" Regan said, her voice no louder than a whisper, "Sirius went out seeking revenge, he didn't go back into the house for them, he couldn't have saved them and he knew that so he went ahead and tried to kill Pettigrew and not take care of his own daughter who would've been a bigger target alone because of her 'blood-traitor' father"

"He was angry!" Harry exclaimed, "My parents are his only family, his mother and father disowned him Regan!"

"Sirius had my mother, he had his own daughter, Harry, he had Remus" Regan said her voice turning deadly cold as she started getting more and more angry, "So, don't give me that excuse — everyone was close to your parents, my mum loved your parents the marauders were a family, it wasn't just Sirius, Lily and James and if only Sirius had took a minute to think of his daughter and the family he did have left instead of a traitor, maybe she'd have had a normal life"

"Ok, well, life's unfair like that, Reg" Harry said, "Not all of us get lucky like you, with a rich family and parents who love you, we have actual life problems to deal with and our parents can't solve them for us"

Regan stared at him, surprised at his outburst, Harry quickly seemed to realize what he'd said and opened his mouth to apologize but Regan walked out before he could say something, moving towards the Gryffindor Tower as quickly as she can to grab Hermione.

"Reggie!" Harry called out, sprinting to catch up to her, he grabbed her arm but she snatched it away.

"What Harry?" she snapped at him, his green eyes filled with sorrow, "I don't have time for this, let's just meet Sirius and get this over with"

"I'm sorry" Harry said as he watched her grey eyes darken and soon turn empty, "I really am, I didn't mean it — it just came out"

"Ok, well" Regan breathed out, "I don't want to talk about it anymore, let's just go" she started to walk away.

Harry watched her figure turn smaller and smaller until it was nowhere in sight, he'd done it again, he'd messed up — he didn't know where it all came from, it was just those nightmares getting in his head and messing him up. He had to fix it soon or he might lose someone he would rather die than lose. Regan Rosier was not the forgiving type but Harry hoped really badly that she would make an exception, because he didn't know what he would do if she didn't.

"IM SORRY, REG" Birdie said to the younger girl who sat on the kitchen floor with a frown on her face and a plate of pizza in her hands, shoving it in her face with a melancholic look on her face.

"It's fine" Regan said waving the brunette off, Lorelei threw a cookie at her which Regan caught but it crumbled in her hold, "Ew, Lorelei, I've told you not to do stuff like this before!"

"I was just checking your reflexes" Lorelei rolled her eyes, taking a seat next to Regan on the floor — their backs pressed against the wall as they leaned on to it for support.

"Ok, well, don't do it right now" Regan mumbled, shoving a whole slice of Pizza into her mouth.

Birdie turned to give a look.

"So...what happened with Sirius?" asked Birdie, taking seat beside the girls on the floor. Regan sighed.

"Nothing much" Regan shrugged.

"Reggie" Sirius pulled his niece into a short hug, Regan pat his back awkwardly, "Did you bring me the chicken?"

"Couldnt have forgotten it after the three hundred times you reminded us about it" Regan passed him a stiff smile, turning expectantly towards Harry who opened his backpack and handed Sirius the drumsticks, which Sirius then started devouring.

"Thanks" Sirius gave a smile to his godson, "Been living off of rats mostly. Can't steal too much food from Hogsmeade; I'd draw too much attention to myself" if only he'd decided to turn into a dog and swallow that rat back then...

"What are you doing here, Sirius?" Harry said, the worry evident on his face.

"Fulfilling my duty as a godfather" Sirius said, shoving the whole piece of chicken in his mouth and chewing it in a very dog-like manner.

Regan scoffed in the cave, petting Buckbeak on the wings and handing it a chicken drumstick too, Sirius turned to look at her — confused. He continued, "Don't worry about it, I'm pretending to be a very lovable stray"

Regan scoffed once again, that's the only kind of lovable you'll ever be, she thought, Sirius turned towards her again, confused, "I wanted to be on the stop. Your last letter, well, let's just say things are getting fishier. I've been stealing paper every time someone throws it out and by the looks of things, I'm not the only one getting worried"

Ron took some of the papers, shuffling through them and Regan just sat down on the cave, knowing it was gonna take some time. Blah blah blah blah blah, blah blah blah, Regan always had trouble concentrating, she read something about it in one of those muggle books, but truly, she didn't read it at all — she only got past the heading before the letters almost started dancing in front of her eyes.

"I don't care, I'll breathe freely again when the tournament's over, and that's not until june, if you're talking to me among yourselves, call me snuffles, ok?" Sirius said throwing the drumstick bones towards Buckbeak, "I'll walk to the village with you, see if I can scrounge another paper"

"Hold on, Sirius" Regan said, getting up and brushing the dust off her clothes, a flash of hurt passed Sirius's eyes — he'd always imagined being the fun uncle for his sister's daughter, he loved the kid to pieces, he just hated the fact that when she met him she'd screamed and he still wasn't the Uncle Pads, he was just Sirius.

"Yeah, Reg?" Sirius stepped forward.

"I need to talk to you about Lorelei" Regan said boldly, Harry sighed from her side.

"Reggie, not now" He said, gripping her arm and pulling her back, Regan snatched her hand back again.

"Why not now, Haz?" Regan gave him a glare, "Since I don't have any problems of mine, I think I should discuss my sister's"

"What about Lorelei? Is she ok?" Sirius asked, his face filled with disarray.

"Yeah, just the usual — finding out about the mother who abandoned you, father who can't be bothered to write a letter" Regan said, shrugging, "I was just wondering if you actually want to be in your own daughter's life or do you want to leave her wondering whether she's not enough her whole life"

"Reggie" Hermione whispered sharply.

"What Hermione?" Regan turned to look around, that cold look in her eyes, "It's harsh, but it's the truth, isn't it?"

"Neveah's back?" Sirius breathed out.

Regan threw her hands back in exhaustion, "Sirius, you know what? I get why Lorelei doesn't wanna talk to you anymore, I just told you that your daughter is in a bad place, and your first instinct is to talk about your ex girlfriend? You're a great person, Sirius, you are — you're loyal, you're kind, you're lovable, and you're amazing, you love everyone so much it's almost to a fault but you've got to learn how to move forward instead of hanging on to the past — you're not gonna get back to your two year old daughter that you abandoned but there is a sixteen year old who's competing in a deadly tournament with too much stress on her mind. I don't know how, but fix it."

Regan passed him a sharp glare and walked out, Sirius watched her go out of the cave with his jaw practically on the ground, "That is exactly what my sister would've said to me"

"Oh, for Godric's sake, Sirius" Harry shook his head and then walked out of the cave himself, "Regan, wait!"

"Nothing much at all?" Lorelei asked and Regan shook her head, "Well, good thing I didn't go then"

"Yup, it was pretty boring" Regan leaned her head on Birdie's shoulder, "If I turn my expression even more sad, will you make me more cookies?"

"I'll give you brownies if you shed a tear or two" Birdie joked, patting her cheek.

"Well, it's just been so tough..." Regan said, wailing in a cartoonish manner, but then she felt real tears coming in, "I'm sorry..." she rubbed her eyes.

"Hey, hey" Birdie pulled her into a hug, "I'm sorry, my brother's being an arsehole, Reg, but it'll be fine — Lorelei and I used to fight all the same, we're still best friends, aren't we?"

Regan nodded. Birdie had seen Regan cry a lot of times, but it was all as a baby or when she'd broken her arm, it was a Black thing she'd noticed, they hid their feelings until it burst out of them in an unusual amount, Birdie rubbed her back while Lorelei watched them with an uncomfortable look on her face.

Birdie needed to have a serious — no pun intended — chat with her brother.
