⚡️ONE.

━━━ the burrow!

"BIRDIE, LORE, GET UP!" The loud voice of none other than Regan Rosier startled the two teenagers busy snoring on their bed, Birdie groaned before unsuccessfully sliding out of her bed which resulted in her falling out of it. Usually she's a morning person, but because Birdie had come to meet Lorelei after a long time last night — they'd stayed up talking for almost the whole night.

"Mum says you have to get up" Regan said peering through Lorelei's door, "You have to get going in five minutes, it's already eight in the morning"

"What?!" Birdie exclaimed making Lorelei stir in her sleep but she didn't wake up, Birdie knew waking Lorelei up was a chore, therefore she was always the one doing it, "Why didn't you tell us before?!"

"What do you think I am? A maid?" Regan scoffed, "Use the alarm clock!"

"A little warning would've been nice, Reggie!" Birdie called out to the disappearing figure of Regan who skipped away, "Bloody hell"

"Go back to sleep" Lorelei whined hurrying her head under her favorite blanket, "It's too early!"

"El, get up, it's eight already" Birdie said snatching the covers off her best friend who instead of waking up just curled into a ball, hugging her knees close to her chest, "El, come on! We'll be late!"

"We're already late" Lorelei said and then released a yawn, "Might as well sleep in"

"El!" Birdie said exasperatedly, "Please, get up!"

"Fine" Lorelei groaned and then rubbed her eyes groggily, "What's got your knickers in a twist anyway, since when do you care about being late?"

"It's always great to be punctual" Birdie said opening her trunk to find an outfit, she settled on a denim jacket with jeans and a floral t-shirt, "Besides one of us has to get up early"

"Bullshit" Lorelei called out, "You're only getting up so early because you want to go see your brother"

"And because of Quidditch—"

"—you hate Quidditch"

"Alright, fine" Birdie rolled her eyes at the girl, "I am excited to see Harry, do you think maybe this year he'll finally start to like me?"

"Birdie" Lorelei said her eyes softening for a second, "I don't think you should give him liking you that much thought, siblings don't like each other — just look at Regan and I, even though we're just cousins, we hate each other"

"It's true" Regan shrugged, Lorelei and Birdie jumped again, "Merlin, why are you so jumpy today?"

"How do you just come out of nowhere?!" Lorelei exclaimed throwing a pillow at the younger girl who dodged it with expertise, "Demon spawn"

"Demon should be flattered" Regan flipped her hair back, "Anyway, mum told me to tell you to come to the kitchen soon or she'll feed your food to Santa"

Lorelei and Birdie rolled their eyes in perfect synchronization at that. They'd been at the receiving end of the same threat for years, it all started when Sirene had told them if they didn't eat their food  on time during Christmas Eve she would feed it to Santa Claus and when Birdie and El grew out of the 'Santa is real' phase Sirene rescued a cat named Santa just for the sake of it.

"You guys are such freaks" Regan said and then rolled her eyes, "How do you do that in perfect coordination?"

"We don't know" Birdie and Lorlei said simultaneously, and then passed each other a grin after doing that.

"As I said" Regan said under her breath, "Freaks"

"Yeah, ok" El said and then shoved Regan out of the room, "Get out, now"

"What, so you can snog girlfriend alone?"

"Even if I was going to it's none of your business"

"How rude!"

Birdie shook her head at them before rummaging through her trunk trying to find some matching accessories, but since she couldn't she just went through Lorelei's stuff instead. Don't judge, she's just borrowing...without her knowledge.

"She's such a pain" El said with a small huff as she hugged the pillow close to her chest, "Honestly, I can't wait to move out just so I don't have to deal with her anymore"

"You love her" Birdie said as she changed her clothes inside the bathroom and then put on the bracelet she stole...um, I mean borrowed from Lorelei.

"Barely" El said with an eye roll.

"What do you think?" Birdie stepped out of the bathroom motioning to her outfit, "Too much or not enough?"

"I'd say it's ok" Lorelei said and then gave her a glare when she noticed the bracelet on her wrist, "Did you steal my stuff again?"

"Pfft. No" Birdie said covering her wrist and putting her hands behind her back, "Why would you think that?"

"Birdie, I saw my bracelet" Lorelei said her eyes hardening, "Give it back"

"It's just for one day—"

"—you said that last time"

"And I gave it back too—"

"In pieces!"

"I'm not giving it back!" Birdie said holding it close to her chest, "It matches my outfit perfectly!"

"Give it back or I will snatch it off you if I have to"

"Do it" Birdie said but then immediately regretted that as Lorelei was now tackling her to the ground, Birdie tried to get El off of her and away from the bracelet, "Get off me, you psycho!"

"Give it back!" Lorelei yelled out and then let out a yelp as Birdie pulled on her hair, "You bitch!"

"Girls!" Andrew Rosier, Lorelei's uncle and also Birdie's godfather said with a look of disappointment on his face, "What are you doing?"

"Aw, dad" Regan said, her voice laced with disappointment herself though Birdie and El knew it wasn't for the same reason as her father, "Why'd you make them stop? It was just getting interesting"

"Regan" Andrew said warningly before turning his attention back to the two teenagers who laid on the ground grumpily, "I don't want to hear who started it, instead I want you both to get up and get your arses down to eat breakfast, got it?"

"Yes, Andrew" both of them chorused together and Andrew walked away muttering 'I hate being the bad guy'

"I guess you can have it" Lorelei rolled her eyes, "But if anything happens to it I will hunt you down and kill you"

"Gee, thanks" Birdie said sarcastically, "Come on, get dressed we have to be downstairs in five minutes"

"What time did Regan say it was again?" Lorelei said as her brows furrowed together.

"Eight, why?"

"That kid! It's just seven thirty!"

"WE'RE NOT APPARATING THERE?!" Birdie and Lorelei exclaimed together as they watched Sirene and Andrew pass each other a knowing look, "What is this scam?"

"This scam is called floo powder" Sirene rolled her eyes at the teenagers, "I don't want to hear anything, you both will take it and then be good at the Weasley's, ok?"

"I'll be as good as anyone can be to those satan spawns" Lorelei said with a scoff, "They're the ones who always start it"

"They aren't that bad" Birdie said frowning at the girl, you see Lorelei, Birdie and the twins have always had some sort of unspoken rivalry with each other, and the result of that rivalry were many many hours of detention, getting rid of glitter, getting rid of a disgusting odor and practically sleeping with one eye open at Hogwarts.

"You're only saying that because they spared you on the last prank" Lorelei said bitterly.

"Not my fault you decided to ditch Hogwarts" Birdie retorted back at her, "Someone had to give you a going away present"

"Birdie" Lorelei frowned, "You can't still be mad at me about that!"

"Watch me" Birdie said and then passed her a sickly sweet fake smile.

"Whatever" Lorelei rolled her eyes.

"Has he written to you yet?" Birdie asked Lorelei in a hushed voice avoiding Sirene, Lorelei's gaze turned into one of sadness as she shook her head.

Lorelei had been on the rocks with her father after he, you know, chose to chase after the Potter family instead of trying to find his own daughter. Lorelei wasn't planning on letting it go, she wasn't really going to make the first move to talk to him either.

Birdie thought her best friend was a badass, she could count on one hand how many times she'd seen her even shed a few tears, but seeing her in her fifth year as she completely broke down because of her father — that was enough for Birdie to hate her brother's godfather, yes, he was important to Harry but he hurt her best friend and she obviously wasn't going to let that go anytime soon.

Birdie gave Lorelei a goofy smile in hopes of cheering her up, and it did. Sirene passed a weird look to the two before setting the floo powder by the fireplace.

"You know what to do" Andrew said motioning for them to get forward.

"But just in case you forgot—" Sirene chimed in.

"They probably didn't considering Birdie took the floo powder to get here last night" Andrew said giving a firm look to Sirene. Sirene had a habit of worrying, Andrew was definitely the more 'laid-back' guardian.

"Right" Sirene said and then poked her tongue out towards Andrew who shook his head, "Alright, then get going, you both"

"I don't get why I can't go to see Harry" Regan grumbled as she watched the two teenagers with jealousy filled eyes, "He's my bloody friend, he doesn't even like them — no offense, Birdie"

"None taken?" Birdie said unsurely.

"You can see your boyfriend later, dumbass" Lorelei said rolling her eyes, "We can't take another risk of you hexing that kid Deadly, Dudbee? Whatever his name was"

"It's not like he didn't deserve it" Regan said in an obvious tone.

"True" Andrew and Birdie shrugged.

"Reggie, what did I tell you about hexing people just because you don't like them?" Sirene said in a stern voice.

"That it's bad..." Regan said kicking the carpet a bit.

"And..."

"...I shouldn't use magic unless it's absolutely necessary"

"Exactly" Sirene said ruffling her hair, Regan pulled back in annoyance trying to flatten her hair, "Now, go on, you two, what are you waiting for?"

"Alright, eager to get rid of us, are we?" Birdie joked as she got inside the fireplace and took a handful of flee powder in her hand, "The burrow!"

Green flames consumed Birdie as she found herself falling down in the fireplace of the Weasley's, yeah she wasn't the best when it came to using the floo powder. She was immediately greeted by the identical noise of sniggering. Birdie got up brushing the dust off her robes and trying to fix her hair that never could be tamed for some reason, it's those damned Potter genes.

"Freddie, look what the cat dragged in" One of the Weasley twins spoke, Birdie assumed it was George, but you could never really be sure — sometimes the twins switched up their names just for the fun of it.

"Play nice, Georgie!" Fred said coming into the view as both of them stared at the girl who chuckled awkwardly.

"Fred, George what have I told you about teasing our guests?" Molly Weasley said hurrying in the room with the sweetest smile on her face, Molly always smiled like she was the happiest person in the world and Birdie never knew why, but she loved it either way. "Welcome, Birdie dear"

"Thank you, Molly" Birdie said as Molly pulled Birdie into one of her infamous bone-crushing bear hugs.

"Let her breathe, mum" Fred joked as he watched his mother squeeze the living daylights out of the brunette.

"Oh, shut it, George" Molly said and Fred frowned but didn't say anything. Birdie felt herself sympathizing with him for a quick moment before Lorelei fell down and everyone heard a crack noise.

"El!" Birdie rushed forward, "What happened?"

"Fourteen years ago a mistake happened is what happened!" Lorelei said angrily getting up and then brushed the dust off every possible place she could, "Regan bloody tried to jump into the fire with me!"

"Oh, Merlin" Birdie said in annoyance.

"Nice landing" George called out to Lorelei making her flip him off.

"Oh, dear" Molly rushed forward, "Are you ok, Lorelei? We heard a crack"

"It was probably my dignity shattering" Lorelei said stepping away and then looking at her outfit sadly, "It's all ruined"

"Let me fix that for you, dear" Molly said and with a flick of her wand both Birdie and Lorelei were clean of any dust.

"Thank you" The two chorused together and then made their way into the living room. Lorelei looked around in fascination, she had never been to Weasley's but their house was just so home-y and it was definitely cute.

Birdie smiled in satisfaction as she sat down on the couch, "When are we going to leave?"

"Around five" One of the twins answered.

Birdie nodded, getting up and then staring at the twins up and down with her eyebrows furrowed, both of them backed away weirded out by the brunette. Lorelei gave her a curious look but then went back to looking around the house.

"What are you doing?" Asked one of them uneasily.

"What's your name?" Birdie asked him, "Don't switch it up please"

"Oh!" Fred said and then grinned, "I'm Fred"

"And I'm George" George said an identical grin on his face, although Birdie noticed that when Fred smiled — one side of his mouth was a bit downturned, and when George smiled, one side of his mouth was perked up.

"I'm the better looking one." Both of them said together and then looked at each other with offended expressions, "No, you're not!"

"I've got it!" Birdie said, "I can tell you two apart now"

"Interesting" Fred said stepping forward, and then continued, "Close your eyes then"

"What? Why?" She asked with furrowed eyebrows.

"Just do it" Birdie frowned but closed her eyes anyway, she hoped that it wasn't one of their pranks she was getting roped into. She heard a series of whispers that she could barely work out, then a bit of commotion and soon she was met with silence.

"Ok, open them" She heard one of them say and so she did, "Now tell me which one I am"

"That's easy" Birdie beamed, "You're Fred, you're a bit shorter and you have a freckle right by your left eye"

"Wicked" the two of them said together.

Birdie shrugged and then went inside trying to find her best friend. This day sure was going to be eventful.
