Song: Fitz and Tantrums - out of my league.
~ Asgard, a long, long time ago~
'Stupid brother!' Loki huffs as he kicks away another stone. Fed up with everything in this world, his brother, his father who seems to favour Thor over him every single time, it's not fair! They're teenagers, why is he being so hard on him?!
Soft humming however fills his ears, his curiosity guides him towards the source. He lets his feet guide him through the woods.
What he finds is a girl sitting on her knees by the small pond. She looks sunken deep in thought, her hands moving over the water. She creates a globe
He slowly looks at the girl and sees her using magic, she's lifting the water and shaping it. She creates a globe, a goldfish caught in it. She takes a closer look and chuckles.
Loki is intrigued by the girl to say the least, he always thought he was the only one with magic in this realm but he appears to be very wrong.
Loki takes another step towards her and a twig snaps under the weight of his foot. She jolts and accidentally lets go of the bubble containing the fish in the process. Fortunately Loki is quick to catch it and release it in a more gentle way, the fish now safely in the pond again.
'I'm sorry, I didn't mean to startle you...' he is the first to speak up.
'No...no it's okay, I wasn't paying attention...you have magic?' Her golden eyes look up at Loki before Loki kneels beside her.
'Yes...and I thought I was the only one, turns out I was wrong..' he replies making her smile.
'I come here to use magic...I don't use it around other people...' she admits, Loki's eyes widen when her iris's turn from the gold to the green colour, never has he seen anything like it.
'wow, that's so cool..that thing you did with your eyes just now..' he remarks making her blush slightly.
'that's not really my doing, but it just happens...every time I use my magic, they turn gold..' she shrugs.
'that's neat...'
'not really, people can see I'm using my magic...' she quips.
'oh..that's not so neat...'
' you don't say..' she chuckles.
'Syd!, Syd where are you?' A woman's voice echoes through the woods.
'I have to go...I hope I see you again....' she straightens up on her feet and Loki does the same.
'yes, that would be nice..' Loki nods before she turns her back to him and walks away.
'wait!, what's your name !' He yells after her.
'It's Sydney...and you?'
'Loki!' He replies.
She starts running when she hears her mother getting worried. She stops when she sees the shape of her mother in the distance.
'What were you doing in the woods honey?' She asks worried. 'Nothing...just walking...' Sydney replies.
'The whole day?' Her mother frowns at the girl. 'Yes..the whole day...'
'Okay then...lets head back so we can have dinner..'
While the pair walks back to the town they live in, Loki walks back to the big palace. The image of Sydney flows through his mind the whole time. He doesn't even notice that he's smiling until he runs into Thor.
'Where have you been the whole day?' He asks when he sees his brother smiling more than he usually does.
'Nowhere...it's none of your concern...' He fires back, immediately dropping the smile.
'Oh come on Loki, you can tell me...is it a girl?'
'No.' Loki huffs as he crosses his arms.
'So its a girl...is she pretty?, What's her name?' Thor pushes, apparently a bit too far because Loki gets more defensive by the second.
'It's not a girl Thor, and it's none of your business...' Loki comments before walking into his room. 'Goodbye brother...' he slams the door shut right in Thors face.
The smile returns as he opens the balcony doors, he sits down on the stone ledge. 'I wish I was as good in magic as she was...' he mutters.
'I wish I had a friend like that...' Sydney's voice sounds and Loki turns around with a startled look. His eyes scan over his surroundings but he can't find anyone near him.
Theres nobody near him, but he heard the voice so clearly. He frown forms on his face as he turns to the small town below again.
'It's the magic, it links us, we can hear eachother, we can communicate...' Sydney's voice sounds again, Loki sees a girl standing in the windowsill of one of the wooden houses that matches her description. She waves and he waves back dumbfounded. 'And I can teach you some magic if you want...'
'I'd like that...I hate to admit it but you're really good...from what I saw when I was watching you...That's sounds wrong doesn't it?' Loki wants to slap himself but refrains from doing so when she chuckles.
'A bit..' she admits.
'I really liked talking to someone like you...'
'There are no other girls like me...but thank you...I liked talking to you too...'
'Are you coming to the party next week?' He asks excitedly.
'I don't know yet.. are You?'
'I need to go...it's always so boring, but I need to since I'm...' Loki starts, but he doesn't finish the sentence.
'Since you're what?' She pokes.
'I'm the prince...'
'Oh, then I'll just have to come too...' she states matter of dactyl.
'You don't have to...'
'No...now I insist..if it's so boring, then you'll at least a have someone to pass the time with...'
'You have a very nice house, who do you live with?' Loki can't suppress his curiosity at this point, not that she minds.
'My mother...and...' she starts but also stops in her sentence, just like Loki did.
'And?..' now it's Loki's turn to poke.
'And my little dragon, it's the smallest kind in the nine realms..it stays small, it's no bigger than a chest...'
'That's...intriguing ...what's its name?'
'Crystal...she's blue, purple and green...my favourite colours...'
'Mine is Green mostly..'
'You have one as well?' She sounds excited.
And in that moment, Loki didn't feel so alone. Talking to Sydney made him feel happy, something he hadn't felt in a long time. Someone he had so much in common with showed an interest in him without being forced to, it felt liberating.
