Professional Questions:
1. How often you are in Wattpad?
Answer: I am on Wattpad several times every day. I usually check for updates by some of my favorite authors or see if anyone has interacted with any of my works.
2. What started you on the path of writing?
Answer: I would have to say that L.J. Smith’s Night World series got me take writing more seriously. I was always concerned that people wouldn’t enjoy my writing, so I reached out to Ms. Smith and asked for her advice. She ultimately told me that I shouldn’t focus on the fact that people may not like my stories. Being able to complete something should be considered a great achievement and she was right.
3. When did you first realize that you wanted to start writing? How and why?
Answer: I realized that I wanted to write more seriously when I was in high school because I enjoyed the escape that writing provided. I had a very dark childhood and so writing was something that brought light and happiness to those times.
4. When did you write your first book and how old were you that time?
Answer: The first book I wrote would have to be during my sophomore year of high school (in 2010), I believe. I was about fifteen years old and it was the first book that I was actually proud of at the time. However, now I am working on rewriting it for plot and character consistency purposes.
5. What are some of your favourite authors on Wattpad?
Answer: StarbucksMocha SarahSokol5 shaerzam jinwen2509 and lumtrexa
6. How long have you been writing?
Answer: Since I was eight years old, so about fifteen years.
7. Do you only write in Wattpad? Or is there any other website you write? If yes, then which other website do you write on?
Answer: No, I also write in the Amino community known as Writers’ Club Amino. A lot of my rough drafts and original shorts can be found there.
8. What do you love most about writing?
Answer: I would have to say that I love world building the most. I love how I can create any world that I want and lose myself in the history and drama of it all. I also greatly enjoy the research process. I typically draw influence from various cultures, so it’s definitely a lot of fun learning about how people live around the world.
9. What keeps you motivated for your writing?
Answer: My readers and my love for writing. I always ask for comments whenever I post a story because I feel like my readers add to my energy. I enjoy seeing the various theories they come up with and whether they are like the book or not. Even if they aren’t enjoying it completely and provide some negative feedback, I still feel grateful that they commented on it. As I always tell others, and myself, any sort of comment is better than no comments. As a writer, I can grow from any sort of feedback that I may receive.
10. How many books have you written? Out of all your books, which book do you think is the most successful?
Answer: I have written two books in an incomplete trilogy, which I am currently rewriting. Then there is A Celestial Requiem. I definitely think A Celestial Requiem is more successful compared to my other books because I have worked hard at advertising it and it’s a story that holds most of my interest at the moment. I feel that if my interest is there, then readers will understand that I am working hard on it and feel inspired to read it.
11. Are any of your characters based on people you know? If yes, would you like to mention some of the characters and how you related to them to your story.
Answer: Yes! The main character of A Celestial Requiem is loosely based on me. Similarly to Mingxia, I was a victim of bullying due to my mixed background. It was a very painful thing for me to go through and eventually I did stand up to my bullies (though not in the physical manner that Mingxia did). Writing those scenes in the first couple chapters were difficult for me at times, but I think that my emotions helped make the scenes stronger.
Liwei, Mingxia’s love interest, is based on my long-time boyfriend. He’s always trying to be strong around other people, but he always knows when I’m suffering, so he does his best to comfort me. And sometimes it feels like he’s able to read my mind!
12. Who inspires you in writing?
Answer: I think that this is similar to question eight. My readers have a bigger influence on my inspiration for writing than one may think. Another big inspiration would be some of my favorite authors outside of Wattpad, such as Quinn Loftis, L.K. Madigan, Courtney Cole, Shelly Crane, and L.J. Smith.
13. What do your fans mean to you?
Answer: I would have to say that they provide a lot of stability for me. Sometimes when I struggle on a chapter, I read back on the comments and that’s enough to push past any obstacles. I wouldn’t be where I am if it wasn’t for them. Thank you everyone for being so supportive!
14. What advice would you give to new writers?
Answer: Don’t feel discouraged if you’re not getting readers quickly. It takes time and patience. Continue to utilize the Share Your Story and Critique/Feedback threads in the Community. They’ve helped me in many different ways.
Even if you’re busy with other activities, try to dedicate ten to fifteen minutes every day to read and write. It’ll pay off in the long run.
15. What do you plan to do in future with your writing?
Answer: I would like to get some of my stories published in the future. However, if that doesn’t happen, I am happy with being able to share it on Wattpad.
I would also love to go outside of my comfort zone and try to write Science Fiction or even Horror one day.
