Waking Up Alone (Chapter 2)

I have some time before I leave to go camping, so I thought I'd update. Hope you enjoy, feel free to ask questions/leave comments, and thanks for reading!

Lance's POV:

The last thing I remembered was steering Blue towards Keith's home and the Red Lion's last location.

Though I wasn't really wanting to go see the emo Mullethead, he was the closest to my location, so I thought I could shake the government guys and go help him. Definitely not the case.

I was shot down, and a jagged dismantled panel corner, it was sticking out through my abdomen. Through the pain and the blood loss, after that it was all a blur.

I didn't know where I was. All I could see was a plain, empty room, except for myself, a cracked, old, frameless mirror on one wall, and a disgusting toilet.

My wrists were cuffed behind me, my abdomen wrapped tightly in clean bandages. Though every small movement still sent pain flaring through the entire right half of my body.

I didn't know what happened to the others, and had no way to talk to them. I hoped that they and Blue were okay.

"O--Okay, very funny," I chuckled lightheartedly. "It was a good prank, you got me." If there were two things I was excellent at, it would be talking and stalling, aside from shooting of course. I am Team Voltron's Sharpshooter and most handsome Paladin, after all.

Although I didn't expect anyone to hear me immediately.

A metal door opened with a loud creak, and four or so soldiers stomped in and surrounded me, guns aimed. I was sitting cuffed, legs criss-crossed on the floor. How I was threatening looking, I had no idea.

Two officials then strolled in afterwards, one of which was a man wearing sunglasses and a suit, like the kick-butt guys you see in the movies. The second, was none other than Commander Iverson from the Garrison. The one who absolutely hated me, and still had the horrible scowl to match.

Iverson locked eyes on me and growled. I did likewise, but heard the soldiers tighten their fingers on the triggers, so I only continued to glare. Seriously, this is nowhere close to the parade I was expecting. And I mean nowhere close.

The first man peered down at me, or at least I think he did. The glasses were so heavily tinted I couldn't see his eyes.

"Are you Lance McClain?"

"The one and only," I smirked. "Thanks for the patch up, by the way." I glanced down and motioned to the bandages.

"Of course, can't have you dying before we get some answers out of you," he replied back stoically. Was I talking to an emotionless robot or an actual person?

"A pop quiz? I hope you know I didn't study. Iverson here'll tell you that I wasn't the best student," I retorted confidently.

"So you did attend the Galaxy Garrison," the man noted, glancing at Iverson for more information.

"Yes, and he's a pain in the ass too. Was originally a cargo pilot before being bumped up to fighter class when the top cadet, Keith Kogane, dropped out--" I couldn't help but flinch when Iverson spat his name. The man seemed to notice too, and cut Iverson's ranting short.

"Do you know this, Keith Kogane?" He asked. "You seemed to recognize the name."

Okay, I was fed up with this guy. This wasn't fun anymore. Not when they talked about my teammates like they were criminals. I shot a glare at the guy.

"I might. What's he got to do with me being here?" I had to find out if Keith and the others were okay. Then I'd find out about Blue.

"Let's just say he's in the same predicament," the man mused. I gritted my teeth together. "And before you ask, I have scientists dissecting your mechanical beast as we speak--"

"Blue?! I swear if you do anything to hurt her--" I snarled before one soldier slammed the but of his gun on the back of my head to silence me. The man stood, content and strolled towards the door.

"Oh, and there are quite a few people who would like to see you. We'll admit them after a thorough interrogation with each of them," he said before they all filed out again.

The echoing slam of the door reminded me I was alone once again and I sat on the cold hard floor, glaring at the concrete, seething.

I needed to get to Blue. I closed my eyes, but I could barely feel her presence, like she was far away.

I needed to find my armor and bayard. Hopefully it was in the same facility.

I needed to find the others. That might be a while.

And, I also needed to blast that jerk at point blank range with my bayard.
