Mi Familia/My Family (Chapter 8)

Hey guys, school starts in two days for me, so sorry I haven't been updating, I haven't had a lot of time to write... Anyway, as always, thanks for reading, feel free to comment, and hope you enjoy!

Lance's POV:

I couldn't tell how much time had passed since the guy in the suit had interrogated me. Hours? Days? Weeks? I figured a day or so, not including any time I was passed out.

They occasionally brought me food and water, but that's it. No conversation, nothing. They came and went, and so time slowly passed in my lonely cell.

I missed the others, Allura and Coran, Pidge and Hunk, Shiro. Even the hothead Keith.

It wasn't supposed to be this way. I wasn't supposed to be the criminal, I was supposed to be a celebrated war hero!

I helped defend the freaking universe! If it wasn't for me and the others, Earth would've been in the Galra's hands....

Or even worse, Earth would've been destroyed.

These thoughts ran through my head over and over, bringing my depression back that I'd struggled with aboard the Castle.

The door creaked open. I didn't bother to look up at the visitors. I kept my gaze to the ground, just waiting for a snide remark from Agent What's-his-name.

What I heard instead broke my heart more than the agent ever could.

"Hermano!" Brother... five little high pitched voices squealed at the door. I jerked up, my ocean blue eyes already brimming with tears.

"Mi familia--!!" I cried back before my five younger siblings tackled me in hugs. With my wrists cuffed behind me, I couldn't hug them back though, no matter how much I wanted to.

They all had tears in their eyes, sad, brown and blue orbs shimmering up at me. They were happy tears, but in their eyes, I saw fear and worry.

God, I just hoped the scientists and agent didn't make me sound like a monster to them...

My parents crept in a few seconds after, helping my grandmother into the room too.

"Mama, Papa," I whispered, my voice choking in my throat from the tears. "Abuela..."

They quickly had me in their arms too, and I was so frustrated that I couldn't hold them back. It was years since the Blue Lion took us to the Castle. I missed them everyday, and now they were here and I couldn't even hug them. I settled for resting my head on theirs.

"Lancey, when are you coming home?" My youngest five year old sister, Luciana, asked.

"Sorry, Luce," I murmured back. "I don't really know."

"Why are you even here? What do they want with you?" My father demanded.

"Papa," I sighed. "I came back from space, piloting a giant mechanical lion. They want answers..."

"Please, hijo," my mother begged. Her blue eyes reflected my own fears. "Tell them, tell us where you went. Please..."

It was like I was being ripped in two. Who could I betray? My real family, or my Voltron family.

"I'm sorry, guys," I whispered. Then, I broke. I told them everything. From saving Shiro and finding the Blue Lion, to meeting Allura and Coran, to forming Voltron and saving many alien species from the Galra, switching Lions, defeating Lotor and Zarkon. Finally, I explained how I missed Earth and mi familia everyday I was in space.

"Rain, green grass, the sun, I missed it all," I cried, my gaze to the concrete floor. "I wanted to come home, so, so many times, but I couldn't live with myself if I abandoned the universe."

They all squeezed me in a tighter hug. Then, one by one, they were being hauled out. I leapt up, two men struggling to hold me back. "Mama! Papa!"

"Lance!" They all screamed back before the door slammed shut. I collapsed, teardrops staining the floor.

"Thank you, Mr. McClain," the Agent muttered before they all headed to the door. I made no move to chase after them, no matter how furious I was. "You've been very helpful."

"Curse you, you monster!" I roared before the door slammed, the echos reminding me that I was once again alone.

No, wait, there was a sound, a distant roar, one I knew like the back of my hand the past few years. I squeezed my eyes shut, focusing every part of my being on reaching out to her, images of the Blue Lion flashing through my mind.

Blue, wherever you are, I need you! The others need you!

I heard another roar, before everything was silent. I couldn't help but smile. These shackles, this prison...

It wouldn't hold the Sharpshooter, the Blue Paladin, Lance McClain, for much longer...
