A New Alien Lab Rat (Chapter 7)

I'm really sorry these keep getting shorter and shorter; with school coming soon, I'm not having as much time to write and update as I did earlier in the summer. Still, here it is, and I hope it's okay. As always, feel free to comment, thanks for reading, and hope you enjoy!

Keith's POV:

I couldn't move. That's the first thing I remember.

Let's see, what happened after I passed out with Red? Hmmm... Nope, can't remember.

I couldn't move. I was in a blinding white room, a straight jacket restricting my arms. I sat up, and noticed the wire mask on my face like I was some sort of rabid animal.

If they're treating me this bad, I hoped Shiro and the others were alright.

My stuff was gone, my armor, my helmet, my bayard... and my knife. I didn't know where I was, and I assumed I was alone, sitting on my knees in the white room. Except I wasn't.

No, a few men in hazmat suits crept in after seeing that I was awake. They quickly surrounded me, but kept their distance.

Then, there was the government guy in a dark suit, with darkly tinted sunglasses, even though we were inside. He seemed to glare down at me, though his eyes were hidden.

One of the scientists showed him a clipboard and whispered to him, and he gave them a nod and dismissed them.

"Are you Keith Kogane?"

I was silent, my narrowed eyes seemed to give him his answer. One of the scientists brought him my knife in an evidence bag, and he peered at it for a second.

"This is a rather interesting knife, isn't it?" He asked rhetorically. "It is of a design we've never seen before anywhere on Earth, and it's elemental components are not like anything on our planet. It is unique, perhaps as you are, Mr. Kogane."

My eyes widened slightly before my glare returned. What had they done to me while I was unconscious?

"Yes, we pulled some hair and blood samples, and what we found was rather interesting."

He crept up and knelt to me, and I glared at him right in the eyes. "Such dark, violet, stormy eyes, yet they hide something much more to you," he cooed. "Tell me, have you heard of any aliens while you were in space?"

I couldn't help but crack a smile, my facade faltering. Aliens? Is this guy serious?

I've seen hundreds of alien species, befriended and protected many, fought many as well. There were two things I learned from aliens:

First, though we're from different cultures and races, we have similarities.

Secondly, and against my wishes, I am part alien...

I couldn't smother a chuckle. "Aliens? I've seen so many things you couldn't even begin to dream of."

"And what of you parents?"

"Never knew my mom, Dad didn't talk about her and died when I was young."

He thought about this for a moment.

"Do you have any memories of your mother? This knife, perhaps?"

"I don't know the origins of that knife, but it's mine, I want it back--"

"I'm afraid that's rather impossible with the predicament you're in, Mr. Kogane. After all, a part alien is in no place to demand anything on Earth."

I jerked up at him, my eyes wide, my jaw probably hung open.

"Yes, the DNA results were rather helpful. Part-- oh, what's the name?--, Galra, wasn't it?"

I snarled at him. He only laughed and turned away towards the exit. "Enjoy your stay, Kogane," he said over his shoulder. "You won't be leaving this room for a very long time."

Once I was alone again, I closed my eyes.

We'll see how long I stay, bastard...

I started reaching out to Red. It was very distant, but still recognizable. Something was different though, like she was being studied and torn apart.

I lifted my head and screamed. I thought I heard Red's roar, but whether it was me or real, I would never know.

I had to get out of here and get to Red, and really soon.
