Chapter 9

My mouth dropped! I looked around to see who was still left. Luckily I saw Peyton and Pippa. Then I spotted Skylar and Talia. I kept glancing around, but I noticed who was missing. Prudence! She was eliminated.
I couldn't believe it! She was so pretty, what could she have done wrong?

The Women's Room was soon filled with all the left over girls. There were around 31 of us, which meant 4 people left. Tatiana told us we could do anything in the Women's Room as long as we were quiet. I sat on the sofa and took off my flats. I eyed a magazine then grabbed it. I'm a pretty slow reader, so this will take a while.

Flipping through pages, I saw one page of a fire. Apparently a movie theater was blown up in Dakota. Another attack from the rebels! I sighed. Then the next page was filled with the latest styles. One model was wearing a denim jacket, a nice, blue blouse and jeans with cowgirl boots. When I looked to the next model, I saw that the model was Annabelle! I ripped out the paper not noticing was ruckus I was causing. I was shushed by Tatiana and I don't think she noticed what I had done.

I sat quietly some more examine the pages until I got bored. "May I be excused?" I asked Tatiana.

"Yes, but you know the rules." She answered.

I nodded and walked out the door. I just had to get out of that place, I couldn't stand the silence and being congested in that room. I walked the hallways, my high heels clicking very loudly against the tile floor. "Miss Green," a voice called. I turned to see no one. I shrugged thinking I was just hearing things. "Miss Green!" There was Prince Aidan in a blue blazer and red tie.

"Yes, Prince Aidan?" I curtsied in his presence.

"Oh well, you don't need to curtsy for me that's more for my parents." He said then added, "I was wondering if you got the note I sent for you."

"Note?" I questioned. I didn't remember receiving any sort of note that day or anything.

"No? Well I just sent it. You must've not been in the Women's Room then." Aidan concluded. "Well, will you like to accompany me in a stroll in the garden?"

"My yes, I would love to." I smirked at him. I didn't even have to think of an answer for that one. Aidan put his arm out and I wrapped mine around it as we walked out of the palace.

"It's really a beautiful day!" Cassidy said. The sun was shining so bright, but it wasn't too hot out.

"It truly is." Aidan smiled looking at Cassidy. "So do you like it here in the palace so far?"

"Like it? I love it!" Cassidy screamed with joy.

"Well, I'm happy to hear that." Aidan smirked. "I've been going through some rough times lately and I'm kind of glad that this whole thing has me distracted."

Cassidy nodded. "If you ever want to just chill by yourself also, I think the girls would completely understand that also."

"I'll think about that." Aidan smirked.

I lightly giggled at his cute smile. "So what did you want to talk to me about that you sent the note?"

Aidan looked at me. "I just want to get to know the girls more so I decided to take you."

I felt my face go a bit red as he told me that he had chosen me first out of all the girls to hang out with. "Oh, that makes sense," I said trying to keep it cool.

"I think the garden is a good place to talk, it very peaceful and private." Aidan said, motioning in the direction of the garden.

"The garden sounds like a lovely place to talk." I replied, smiling. We walked out in the garden together where we were alone except for some guards standing by.

"So, do you have any questions for me?" Aidan asked.

I thought for a moment then one hit me. "How did you eliminate girls so quick?"

Aidan took in the question and he just stood there for a while thinking of how to respond. "Well, some girls I didn't really have a connection with at all and I couldn't see them as the leader of Illea or next to me on the throne."

"Couldn't you have gotten to know some girls better before eliminating them?" I asked, still wanting to get the full detail out of him.

Aidan thought again. "I guess I could've, but that's what my job is."

I nodded in response. I guess he was correct, I mean he had to eliminate them some time.

"Any other questions?" Aidan asked once again.

"Oh, yes! Will your sisters be hanging out with us or will they be keeping to themselves?"

"Bethany will definitely love to hang out and talk, but Cordelia is very independent and likes to keep it that way." Aidan answered.

When I nodded, a piece of my hair fell out from behind my ear. Before I could push it back, Aidan did it for me. "Thank you." I said blushing a bit.

"No problem." He smiled back at me.

I backed away a bit, feeling a bit uncomfortable with the little amount of space between us.

"Would you like to sit down?" He questioned pointing at a bench.

"Sure." I sat down on the bench and smoothened my dress out.

"Now may you answer some of my questions?"

"I will try my best."

"Okay," Aidan said. "When did you start playing basketball?"

"When I was around 6. I saw a bunch of boys playing it and they teased me since I was a girl and couldn't play. I learned how to play and I proved them wrong." I replied, remembering that.

Aidan smirked. "I could tell that you are very determined."

"Yes and competitive!"

"I play basketball also." Aidan commented.

"You do?"

"Yep."

"Hmmm... We'll have to play sometime  I guess." I said, getting in his face a bit.

"Definitely!" Aidan said, getting back in my face.

My face turned red once again. "Well, this will have to be soon."

"Maybe tomorrow." Aidan said. "Unless you aren't ready for it that early."

"Oh I'm ready!" I then thought about the other girls and how they didn't even get to hang with Aidan yet. Then I remembered I can make friends, but I am here for myself.

"Good!" Aidan said seriously. He tried keeping a straight face, but then started bursting out laughing. I as well started laughing. "Maybe you're too competitive."

"Competitive? This isn't even me being competitive." I answered.

"Oh, well, I am looking forward to seeing that other side of you."

I smiled. "Any other questions?"

"Childhood?"

"I told you not now."

"Don't you trust me?"

"I do, but I have just met you."

"I respect your decision, but I am going to waiting for that conversation." Aidan said, looking into my eyes. I also felt his hand touch my thigh. I became very giddy.

"Well, we'll have to see how long I last."

"I think I will be keeping you around for a while. "Aidan said, getting closer.

It looked like we were about to kiss, but both of us stood our ground, waiting for the other to make a move. Then someone else did.

"Prince Aidan!" A maid called. "She is not in the Women's Room." She then saw me. "Oh I am so sorry." She bowed and scooted away back towards the palace. She must of been the person giving me the note to meet Aidan.

"Oh," Aidan stood up. I did as well. "I believe I have to get ready for lunch and squeeze in some work before that."

"Oh okay." I responded. "It was lovely being with you."

"And you as well." He took my hand and kissed it softly. I blushed and speed-walked back to the Women's Room.

Before I galloped in, I made sure to wipe the smile off my face so the other wouldn't be so suspicious. When I walked in, I was stopped by Tatiana. "A maid was looking for you."

I stopped and thought. The maid in the garden was the one sending the note for me. "Oh yes, she found me."

"Okay good." Tatiana said, then she grinned a little. I didn't know why, but she did. She let me pass and I went back to the couch with the magazine. The only problem was, I couldn't focus. All I was thinking about was what tomorrow would be like, playing basketball with Aidan.
