Chapter 7
The gown that my maids created for me for dinner that night was stunning. I made sure it was simple since I hate wearing dresses in the first place. The way the yellow fabric flowed behind me felt so nice. The heels that went with it were black and strapped around my feet, but you couldn't see them since my dress covered it. "Girls, you did amazing!" I announced, prancing around.
"Thank you miss. We are glad you like it." Lucia answered, smiling. I stared at the three of them. It seemed as if they could all be in the Selection, they were all so beautiful.
"I better go off to dinner now, I can't wait to see the prince!" I was very giddy and I couldn't stand waiting to see him.
"Oh miss, you will not be seeing Prince Aidan this evening." Aurora said. She looked upset since she had to deliver me the drastic news.
"Oh," I was disappointed. "Well, I'll be off. I will see you ladies later."
The stairway was filled with girls and I was glad I was caught in the crowd since I wouldn't really know how to get to the dining hall if I was by myself. I didn't pay much attention to the tour. I looked around the crowd and I was surrounded by prissy girls. "Uh, I can't stand being treated like this." A girl said. She was being shoved down the stairs.
"Oh, let me help you." I spoke, tapping her on the shoulder. She turned and has a bright red, tight dress on. Her dark red hair went perfect with it. Also her green hazel eyes. "Pick up your dress then you can walk better."
"Oh thanks." She smirked. "I'm Scarlett of Bonita, Two."
"Cassidy of Sumner, Two."
"Yay! Another Two! I'm glad I'm not going to be surrounded by just these," Scarlett paused. "Let's say less fortunate people." I couldn't believe this. I knew I should stay away from her.
We were getting to the end of the stairs, when a girl tripped and fell. I ran over, and picked the girl up. "Are you okay?" She obviously wasn't, looking at the tear in her dress that revealed a gash on her left knee.
"Oh yeah, this is nothing compared stuff I do at home. Thank you!" She gazed up at me her big brown eyes bulging. She had shoulder length black hair and golden tan skin. She was shorter than me and had a dark purple dress on. "I'm Skyler!"
"Cassidy." I stuck my hand out and out for her to shake, which she did. "Let's get to dinner, we don't wanna be tardy on the first night." She nodded, ignoring her dress and we galloped along.
We arrived right as the last girls took their seats. Luckily two seats were open where Skyler and I sat next to each other. I was happy to see Peyton and Pippa sitting right across from us. We settled in and dinner was served right away. The king and queen were also not present at dinner, but Tatiana was.
There was not a lot, but a bit chatter going on in the dining hall. I spotted Talia down the table. She was wearing a midnight blue dress one strap dress. I think I was looking for too long because after a while we met eyes. I gave her a brief smile and she did back. It felt awkward. She is my favorite cousin and we always share everything, but we haven't texted since we congratulated each other which is surprising.
"Hey." I turned and saw the other girl next to me. She had pale skin and was very tall. Her thin body looked beautiful in the royal blue strapless dress. Her hair was dark brown and in a tight French braid.
"Hi." I grinned. That's when a strand of her hair fell out of her braid. "Oh no."
"What?" She questioned in a panic.
"A strip of your hair fell out of place."
"Oh jeez!" Her face turned red.
"Don't worry, let's excuse ourselves to the bathroom." She nodded and followed my lead. "Lady Tatiana, may we be excused to go to the restroom?"
"Of course!" She grinned. "It's down the hall to your left. Right across from the Women's Room." We smiled back and left.
When we arrived I quickly pulled out bobby pins that attached to the belt of my dress. I always carry things for my hair since I like it in place at all times. "Turn around and it will be back to normal in no time." The girl did as I said. "What's your name?"
"Prudence." I pulled back the strand of hair and bobby pinned it into the braid.
"I'm Cassidy." I looked at it side to side and it was back to the way it was in the beginning. "DONE!"
"OMG!!! It's so good!" She squealed. "I thought you would be mean and mess it all up."
"No way! Now let's go back to dinner." We found our way back and once we sat back down, we had to get back up since dinner was over.
My maids undressed me when I came back and put me in a nice, hot, relaxing bath. My hair was washed thoroughly and with my favorite scent. Coconut! They gave me a purple, silk night gown that was the most comfortable thing I've ever worn. One maid stayed with me during the night and that was Lucia.
"You don't have to leave so quickly," I said to the other maids. "Unless you want to."
"We will stay with you until you dismiss us." Delilah answered.
"Oh well, you can all get into your pjs, then we can have a slumber party!" I through my pillow up in the air. I was acting like such a kid.
"Okay miss, we'll be right back." Lucia reassured me.
When they left, I escaped onto the balcony and stared at the moon glowing in the night sky. I then saw something move in the garden. It was Prince Aidan!
