How could I say no?
This was the moment I had waited for for years. The very moment I had spent countless nights dreaming about not long after Jeremy and I first met. The tall, handsome, gentleman, with the voice of an angel. He was charming, funny and he liked me back. That was five years ago. We were still kids when we fell in love.
Here I stood, gawking down at the man on one knee. The Eiffel Tower, of all things, soaring high in the background. I must admit he'd planned a damn near perfect proposal.
How could I say no?
Isn't this what we've been working for? Isn't this what we fought for? For all these years... through the good and bad, the better and, at times, worse...
How could I say no?
It hadn't been perfect, it hadn't been easy. But I can honestly say that we earned this.
I deserved this. Paris... a Prince... a diamond ring.
How could I say no?

Was that too formal? I thought about it quite a bit before pressing send. The day had really come... Kirstie and Jeremy had been together for a while now, already moved in together, they even had dogs together. It was only a matter of time before they'd be moving on to full blown marriage.
"Dude, did you see?" Kevin exclaimed bursting through my bedroom door. I had to smile at the goofy guy, holding his phone, wide smile across his face.
"Yea dude..." I tried to sound enthusiastic, "It's crazy, right?" I'd hoped I was convincing.
"I know!" Kevin said, "It's about time I guess!"
Don't get me wrong I was happy for them. I mean I really was. So happy for them... So happy for Kirst... Of course I want to see her happy. And if she was happy then I was happy.
So happy...
