Chapter Two- The Plant
Year: 2021
Dr. Shiragami's POV
"Interesting." I said to myself. Serizawa overheard me, and came to look.
"What is?" he inquired.
"This plant." I said, gesturing to the plant I had been studying, sitting on the table. My daughter, Erika, had named the plant 'Biollante.'
"The plant's cells all possess high levels of adrenaline, and also show signs of being sentient." I explained.
"And what does that mean?" Serizawa asked.
"It means," I said, "That the plant is capable of rapid cell growth and repair, due to the cell's ability to think independently, and move very quickly from the adrenaline."
"Very good, Genshiro." Serizawa patted me on the back. "We'll need all the information we can get about the plant life of Skull Island."
Serizawa walked away, and I sat there for a while in silence, until someone startled me.
"Hi daddy!"
I nearly jumped out of my seat, and I turned around to see my daughter, Erika.
"Erkia." I said. "You nearly gave me a heart attack."
She laughed, then ran up to me and hugged me.
"What have you found out about my plant?" she asked, excited.
"Well," I said, turning around to get the small, potted plant.
"I just discovered that all of the plant's cells can think independently, giving the plant the ability to self-heal rather quickly."
"Wow!" She said, and leaned in towards the plant.
"Watch this." I said, and took a scalpel from my desk. I made a tiny cut on the plant's stem, and waited.
Then, the plant began to move, and the both of us saw tiny vines form inside the cut, as if the plant were sewing itself together. In a matter of seconds, the plant looked like I hadn't cut it at all.
"That's really cool!" she said, and gave me another hug.
Oh, Erika. I thought to myself. What would I ever do if I lost you?
