Hey everyone and welcome back to another chapter in this Godzilla Discussion page. Ok this movie has the longest title of any Godzilla movie. Hence why most fans just refer to this one as GMK.

(This theme is amazing).
Ok so let's talk about GMK. This is my favorite in the millennium series. I mean this movie has the director of the Awesome 90s Gamera trilogy (Shusuke Kaneko) directing it. Which by the way is an amazing trilogy and well worth checking out.
Once again GMK is another reboot with only two Godzilla films being canon to it. The first is the original 1954 film and the other film being Godzilla (1998) or Zilla. So yeah it was with this movie that Toho officially made Zilla canon with the real Godzilla making that movie seem null and void as a "Godzilla" movie now.
Plot:
In this movie Godzilla takes on the guardian monsters and they are Ghidorah, Mothra, and Baragon.
Why I love This Movie
Better effects:

This is one of the best in the series for a variety of reasons. For one thing the model and effects work has been improved greatly from the previous Godzilla movies. This movie also has a more interesting plot that is kind of mystic. The way it brings in the guardian monsters and it.
Great Music:

This movie has one of the best scores to any of the Godzilla movies. Sometimes I'll be humming the theme to this movie when I'm walking around.
Better Human Characters:
The characters are surprisingly a lot better to follow in this movie. I like Yuri as a lead as well as her father and the rest of the supporting cast in general. They help to carry the movie when the monsters aren't fighting.
The Guardian Monsters:
Originally this movie was supposed to feature the monsters Baragaon. Varan, and Anguirus as the days rector wanted Godzilla to be the most powerful monster in the film. But, Toho told them to switch is to Mothra and King Ghidorah. Personally, I would have rather this movie have Varan and Anguirus in it simply because we've already gotten plenty of other Godzilla movies with Morthra and Ghidorah in them. Plus, poor Varan hasn't done anything since destroy all monsters and in that movie he just sort of stood around and did nothing. So i feel like Varan deserves some time to shine. But, apparently that was just too much to ask for. At least we still got Baragon and the other monsters.
Baragon:
Making his first appearance since Destroy All Monsters Baragon is given a slight update. He still digs in the ground but he no longer breathes fire like he did in the movie Frankenstein Conquers the World (where he first appeared).
Mothra:
For the first time in the series Mothra is no longer with the Twin fairies. A change that I Welcome and one that works for this particular story. I mean there's a little tribute moment to the twin fairies in the movie but that's about it. I also like Mothra's updated design and I hope they go for something similar in the upcoming Godzilla King of the Monsters movie.
King Ghidorah:
Ok let's talk about King Ghidorah. His origin is entirely different not to mention this is the only time in the entire series where King Ghidorah is a good guy. I'm ok with it for this movie because I like seeing the same characters in different perspectives. I mean I still prefer the old school and evil King Ghidorah but this one is still pretty cool.
Godzilla
They finally fixed up Godzilla's design. He resembles the classic Godzilla a bit more and I think the glowing eyes are a nice touch. I think that the design for his head with the glowing white eyes makes this one of the best designs of the character. If they would have just tweaked the design from the shoulders down a bit then this might be my favorite design of the character. He's also ridiculously Overpowered (which is great). None of the monsters stand a chance against him and it's awesome. He's only defeated when the military drills a hole inside him and Godzilla ends up destroying himself. So despite all the other monsters best efforts it wasn't enough to take him down.
Overall, GMK is one of the best in series. Great action, music, it's funny, and has a more interesting story then a lot of the other Godzilla movies. It's easily the best in the millennium series and is one of my favorites in the entire series. I just really enjoy watching this movie. Anyways, go ahead and let me know in the comments below what you thought of GMK where we can talk about it in further detail. Also, next week (at the time I'm writing this) Godzilla Planet of the Monsters is about to hit Netflix. So be sure to check that movie out when it hits. Once again thanks for reading this. I'll be back next time to talk about Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla! So be sure to come back for that. Anyways, have a nice day! Bye now.
