YUNNAN RAINFOREST, CHINA

I still couldn't move from the silk sticking me to the wall, but the minute I heard gunfire, I instinctively stopped moving, pretending to be dead. All I could do was sit and watch.

MADISON

Gunfire rang out behind me and mom, drawing our attention to the observation window. We could see flashes of machine guns being fired, and bodies falling as people were gunned down. Then, the form of the senior scientist pressed against the window, until his head suddenly exploded, a gunshot blasting him in the face and breaking the glass at the same time. We flinched, and I tried to hold back a scream. Meanwhile, Mothra's larva retreated into the waterfall behind it.

Men with rifles, led by a tall, slender man with grey hair and a beard in a sweater stepped through the window, and approached us. I didn't recognize him, but apparently, mom did.

"Alan Jonah." She said.

"Emma Russell." He replied.

"What do you want?" She asked him.

He simply grinned. "You know what I want. The ORCA. And you. And...bring your daughter with you."

With that, the men with guns grabbed our arms and forced us through the window. As we did, though, I saw the tinniest bit of movement on the wall. It was the kid, the boy only a few years older than I: Kaito. He was stuck to the wall, and for the shortest moment, our eyes locked.

In his eyes, I saw something. The way he looked at me...I saw the same thing in dad's eyes whenever he looked at mom, before San Francisco happened.

He's in love with me.

She knows. I thought. 

I had to move quickly. I rummaged in my pocket, and withdrew my father's pocket knife. Working quickly, I cut the silk, and broke free from it. I quickly ran into the lab, only one more guard was there, and she didn't see me. I silently tackled her, and knocked her out. I removed her uniform and clothes, and put them on. Luckily, they fit. I grabbed her gun, and then dragged her body, dumping it into the containment room.

Trying to be inconspicuous, I silently caught up to the rest of the group. We moved out of the lab and onto a hijacked osprey. I pulled up my face mask that was part of the uniform so that nobody would recognize me, and boarded the transport.
