S2Ch5. Asgard (Pt 2)

"Wha- How- you- no, we-" were the only words the past bladers could say.

"Surprised?" Shu chuckled.

His past self could only stare. "Why wouldn't we be?"

Lui snorted, "'Cause this is the future, and you should be expecting this."

The past Lui crossed his arms, "But still, this is weird!" He eyes their future selves up and down in fascination. "Why are you-we- dressed like this?"

"Yeah, why the crowns?" Zac wondered.

Future Zac laughed, "Why wouldn't we have crowns when we live in a palace and rule the entire kingdom?"

"What? What do you mean-" Zac trailed off. "Rule the entire kingdom?" He squeaked.

Lui slapped his hand against his forehead. "God, why were we so dumb? What part of the 'when you're looking at kings, you kneel' do you not understand?"

"Kings?" Xhaka started. "Bu- Oh. Oh."

"Finally, huh?" Future Xhaka laughed.

"We are kings?" Shu asked in astonishment. "Out of all things, I was certainly not expecting that."

Daina then raised an eyebrow. "But why here? Why Asgard? Isn't Thor and Loki supposed to be here or something-"

"Good old Marvel," Xhaka chuckled. "But no. The two gods you spoke of, they are likely to be another pair of Bey spirits of normal bladers. You know, Asgard isn't from movies, Asgard inspired those movies; it is real, just look up Norse Mythology!"

"Asgard is a realm for spirits- Bey spirits, to be percise," Shu explained. "Throughout the years, Asgard has became a realm of Beyblade and bladers. We are not the only ones who can summon Bey souls now; any blader whose bond is strong enough with his bey can summon spirits. Since Asgard is the souls' home and realm, every blader can follow his own Bey spirit to Asgard. Yggdrasil and Unicorn," he looked at Ukyo and Yugo, "open the gates of Asgard to every welcomed blader and spirit. It was the spirits, especially Spriggan, Longinus, Xcalibur and Zeus, who suggested this; building up a good society for blader and bey, because without bladers, there would be no Beyblade and vice versa. That is why our Bey souls decided to have us four- Lui, Xhaka, Zac and I- rule Asgard and keep the Beyblade community bonded and connected with the spirits. The others here are our most trusted generals."

"Wow," Zac gasped. "That's a lot to take in."

"Yes, it sure is," future Zac said.

Rantaro then stepped up, eyes narrowed. "Hold up. How old are you? I mean, how old will we be when we get here?" He asked slowly.

Zac's grin suddenly grew even more mischievous. "Around twenty two, twenty three years old," he said with a carefree tone. "We all are."

Rantaro's eyes narrowed further. "If you are really twenty two, then this should be seven years away from ... I had flashes and dreams of the future up to ten whole years, and this never happened. How old are you, chronologically? What year is this?"

Future Rantaro smirked a bit, "Caught up, haven't you?"

Valt stared at Rantaro, "Huh? So you mean this isn't seven years later?"

Rantaro bit his lower lip. "Most likely not."

Valt scratched his head and chortled. "If you're talking about chronical age, then we are grandpas..."

Xhaka laughed, "Com'on, you can't be that o-"

"We're over fifty, almost sixty. We arrived Asgard and were crowned as kings when we were twenty," Shu said. "So yes, we're pretty old."

"Sixty? But how do you-we look so young?" Shu asked.

"Hmm, let's say Asgard is like Neverland, you never grow older than you originally are. The time in Asgard flows different than Midguard, Earth. One year on earth, equals two to three month in Asgard. It has been over thirty years since we left earth, but it's only about ten years here," Lui said.

Valt suddenly paled. "You said we will not grow older than we originally are. You arrived here when you were twenty two, twenty three, and you never grew any older anymore. Have you- will we ever leave Asgard after we arrive? You haven't, have you?" He asked.

Zac shook his head, "You're correct. We haven't left here ever since we arrived."

Valt's voice grew quieter, "Then... mom and dad..."

Future Valt smiled sadly, "We will not be able to live with them anymore. But mom and dad are bladers, so they can visit us here. They are now very old, in their eighties... We all miss our parents very much, but we can't help how time works."

"Nothing is a hundred percent perfect," Shu added, "and everything has a catch. This is one of them. We won't grow old, we are now freaking royalty, we live in a world of Beyblade, the thing that has brought us together, but the price is giving up our lives on Earth. Completely."

There was a moment of silence, the bladers in the past had their heads down. But then, Lui broke it.

His eyes were serious. "There is something I- no, we- need to ask. There had been traitors of Asgard who went to the past. Do you know who they are?"

"Toko and Nika," Valt answered quietly.

"And Souta," Daina bitterly added.

Future Valt and Daina's faces hardened, expressions falling off.

Shu spoke up, "Wait, so you mean you don't know?"

"We don't," his future self nodded.

"But... how can you not? At some point of your lives, you had been us. In the past, in your past, you would have seen them. So why..."

Xhaka let out a sigh. "The future is changing. So is the present, and the past. In our past, none of this happened. We didn't go to the future; when we were at your time, we were probably watching movies and launching beyblades and hanging out. We, right now, only knew of this because Rantaro right here told us." He looked at Rantaro. "This is why time travel is such a huge taboo, it changes the entire flow of time. Oh yeah, I forgot to ask. Why did you travel here? Did anything happen?"

Jin's eyes widened. "Shoot. We forgot the most important thing here," he bit his lip. "There is this guy, Toko, Nika and Souta kept calling him 'Lord Heracles', who threatened if we didn't go to the future, he will harm Kensuke and Ben... Kensuke and Ben..." his eyes scanned the room. "Is Kensuke and Ben here is Asgard?"

Valt's expression, along with the others', darkened further.

"If you don't want to tell us, then you don't have to-"

"No, it's okay," he smiled. "It's just... remember the part where we have to give up Earth completely? That includes Ben and Kensuke. Kensuke... he stopped Beyblading. It's totally normal, actually, Beyblade can be a lifetime matter, but it can also be just a childhood activity. Beyblades sometimes are just simple spinning tops to many people, just a toy, and a lot of bladers would start to grow further away from it. It's just life. Kensuke has more important things to do, so I don't blame him. As for Ben... well, he's staying with Kensuke. Kensuke quit, then he followed. They are now chronically and physically fifty to sixty years old, with families and as happy granddads. We're happy for them, too."

Lui nodded. "There are more bladers who are like this; that includes most of the Superstars," he looked at Zac, "the team Gou and I were once in, Rideout, and Iceblaze except for Quon. The Beyclub and Swordflames stayed as you can see. But Bey tournaments and teams are now distant memories. Shu, Zac, Xhaka and I were not the Spin Emperors anymore, and new champions and Big Fours will keep on coming. For us, six years, but for the others, thirty years. If they had forgotten about us, I don't blame them."

"We have new duties now, other than blading," Zac said. "I am known as King Zeus to the public, the guardian of joy and peace. Xhaka is King Xcalibur, guardian of strength and passion. Shu is known as King Spriggan, guardian of protection and perseverance, and Lui, King Longinus to the public and guardian of wisdom and power. This is what we have to guard in order to keep the Beyblade world at peace."

"But back to the most serious matter here," Daina said. "Souta... He's my brother, I love him, and I don't know why he would betray us. Same goes to Toko and Nika. But now, the past is in danger, so is the present and future. We will do what we have to stop them and 'Lord Heracles'. It is our responsibility to protect all bladers and bey spirits. In order to do that, we need more information. What other things do you know about him?"

"Uh, not mu-" Valt was cut off by the rumbling laughter.

"You don't need to know more about me when I'm right here," Lord Heracles chuckled from behind. Nymph, Scythe and Triton came from behind.

"Toko... Nika... Souta... It really is you," Valt said. His voice was unrecognisably cold and rough.

"It's Triton, Nymph and Scythe to you, Valkyrie," Triton spat.

Daina remained emotionless, though his eyes said everything. "Souta, this is really stupid of you," he said.

"Same goes to you, Deathscyther," Souta said coldly.

But the four future kings only stared at Heracles. "You are..?" Zac started slowly, his voice steady.

Heracles mock bowed. "Heracles, at your service," his voice was sarcastic.

Shu's eyes were dark. "I see, your spirit is Horror Heracles. I thought Horror Heracles was banished from Asgard years ago. And you, don't think I've forgotten about you. I remember all Asgardians, including traitors. You are Akami Kino, one of the top bladers, right?"

Heracles grinned. "I don't see if that's any of your business, Spriggan."

"When it comes to the lives of our people and Asgard, everything is our business," Shu said.

"Well, let's say I found Horror Heracles," the man said. "In Midguard. It promised me power, power to overthrow you and your happy little kingdom and become the new king."

Lui sneered, "Please. As if it'll be that easy."

He didn't even move an inch when Nymph, Triton and Scythe were frozen.

Heracles' lips twitched for a millisecond before he smiled fakely again. "As expected of King Longinus."

"You should expect it," Lui snapped. "Now get out of Asgard and stop messing with time."

"Make me," Heracles smirked.

Lui growled before attacking, ice shooting out of his palms. Anyone could feel he was holding back. Heracles almost got hit, but he was holding back as well.

"Nice," Heracles said.

"Yeah, whatever, now get the fuck out," Lui said.

"I said, make me."

Wakiya's wings flapped as rocks and stones flew towards Heracles, glowing in purple, and Heracles dodged quickly, though barely. Daina attacked as well. He swinged his scythe at Heracles. A dark aura errupted as it grazed Heracles' skin. He was still holding back.

Blood dripped from his arm. He looked smug instead of angry.

"Why are you smiling?" Daina said as he pressed his scythe near Heracles' throat. "I told us to make you leave. We did. So why?"

Heracles laughed.

Vines wrapped around his hands and legs in seconds. Xhaka looked at him in the eye, "When my general ask you something, you answer."

"I figured you can kill me whenever you like. I won't deny that all of you combined will be much, much more poweful than me now. It's not fair. That's why I will not play fair either."

"What have you done?" Xhaka asked. The vines tightened.

"Longinus was right. Destroying Asgard with mere force and power is far from easy and enough. I admit that. I decided to 'bargain'."

"Bargain?" Lui scoffed. "How is this going to benefit us? Why would we want to exchange Asgard and lives of our people?"

"Because if you don't, your past selves will die, and you will not exist as well. Asgard will fall either way, but if you agree to my bargain, then I will be the new king, and I assure you that the people will not die, just enslaved," Heracles said.

"Enslaved? Are you shitting me?" Lui growled. "Our past selves will die? What are you talking about?"

"Guardian of wisdom and power, I expected you to be more observant," Heracles shook his head. "Haven't you noticed that it's only you, Nymph, Triton, Scythe, and I in this room?"

Eyes scanned the room quickly. "Our past selves... Where are they?!" Zac demanded.

"I won't tell you that," Heracles replied. "But I can tell you that they will surely die in no more than two hours. Make your choice: hand Asgard to me, or let Asgard end before it even starts. Goodbye for now."

He was gone before they could even move. The frozen forms of Nymph, Scythe and Triton were still present.
