Ch9. The King of Gods
"Zeus..." Zac gasped out, ignoring the shocked stares the other Spin Emperors were giving him.
The spirit before he laughed merrily. "So you remember me, Prince Zen," he said. "Ah... A thousand years. A thousand years too long. This is my first time being acknowledged by someone."
Zac gaped at him. "But... But how?" He asked. "Aren't you my... my Bey? How do you look like this? Who are you exactly?" He had never been so shocked in his life. His Beyblade, his Beyblade, was talking to him, in a human form. Zac caught a glimpse of another glowing object at the back of his eye. He looked at the object, and saw the 'other' Zeus, Zillion Zeus was still glowing and spinning fast.
"Young ones are always so impatient," Zeus smiled. "I am Zeus. The God of the skies and thunder. The king of gods and lord of the heavens. That spirit that possessed your small spinning top," he looked at Zillion Zeus and laughed. "It's funny, really. How the god everyone had once bowed down to was kept inside a simple metal toy. That's how powerful and unrivalled Fate is."
Zac stilled looked shocked. "But... just how?" He asked again. "Why do you come out of my Bey?" Zac winced at jow wrong it sounded, but continued. "And what just happened, Zeus? I suddenly have those... powers. Lighting... Oh hell. Lighting burst out of my freaking fingers without hurting myself. What is happening, Zeus?"
The spirit chuckled. "A million years ago, I ruled heavens. I had power. Ten thousand years ago, I died like every creature should. Being immortal doesn't mean you don't die. It only means you don't grow old, don't fall sick, don't get hurt. It's fair, actually. I'm too old to live forever. When I died, most creatures of the sky, monsters, gods, dragons, fall as well. Olympus collapsed and every one of us, including me of course, became spirits. Then, finally, we decided to protect pure and worthy mortal humans. That happened a thousand years ago. That's when I met you."
"Wha?" Zac asked again. His shock converted into confusion. "But I wasn't born a thousand years ago! I was born in the 21th century! How could you had met me ten centuries ago?"
Zeus shook his head with a laugh. "You don't know anything of your past, don't you, Zen?" He said. "You were, in fact, alive at that time. Ah, how time flies. The 11th century had passed in just a blink of an eye. Prince Zen, or rather, Zac, do you know anything about the legend of the four princes?" As expected, Zac shook his head. "Of course you don't," Zeus muttered. "I don't really remember why, but out of all creatures, all gods and monsters, I chose to go with Spriggan, Longinus and Xcalibur. Maybe because they were great friends and companions." He smiled sadly. "We haven't seen each other again in person in a thousand years, much less talk. We only met each other again in those Bey battles of yours. It's ironic, how Spriggan and Longinus fought with so much passion, yet with so much hatred and rivalry. Those two were best mates, even among the four of us best friends."
Lui almost fell.
Zeus continued. "You four were one of the few humans that could see us. And one of the only humans that were not afraid of us. Instead of hate, you showed us friendship. The four of us were greatful and honoured to be friends and companions of such humans. Not everyone could have such kind hearts. Other than us, some the other spirits who were not rejected were Wyvern, Deathscyther, Unicorn, Gaia, Odin, Valkyrie and a few more. Ah, how I miss them," he said and sighed. "We were happy with you four, my friends, until the day you... died," Zeus winced at the horrible memory. "Villagers burned you alive. And after your deaths, we were trapped in a loney and hateful world with no one left to care for. Without a choice, the four of us went back to the hollow and empty universe with nothing left. We only had each other that time. Until Fate came. She was not the old and poor woman she looks like, instead, she was the wisest and the most powerful goddess I have ever seen. Fate offered us and the other spirits a purpose in life. She offered for something to love and care for us. We accepted her kind and generous offer without a second thought."
But Zac looked even more confused. "You said Fate offered you a 'purpose', then how did you end up as Beyblades? Last time I checked, Beyblades are spinning-tops made of metal and plastic. They are modern... inventions made for battles. So why did Fate... I don't know, turn you into Beys? She could have turned you into some kind of kings or some human-beings! So why spinning-tops?"
"Tell me, Zen— Zac," Zeus said. "If I am a human king that ruled your country, Japan, will you look at me as a partner? A friend and conpanion?" His question caught Zac off guard. Zac thought about it and frowned. Would he? If Zeus was currently the king of Japan, would he treat him like he treated his Bey, Zillion Zeus? Sure, he'll treat him with respect, but would Zeus be his partner if he was king? Zeus smiled at Zac's puzzled look.
"The answer is no, Zac," he said. "That's how wise Fate is. She knew when you four are reborn, you would be born in this modern world, where most people at your age likes challenges, battles and excitement. That's why Fate changed us into Beyblades. She knew if we became toys, you would acknowledge our presence and reunite with us. Some say Fate is cruel, but she can also be so kind."
Zac nodded. He opened his mouth to say something but was interrupted by a loud snore. He whipped his head to the source of the sound and saw Valt still sleeping soundly. His eyes widened. He had almost forgotten about them! Zac looked at Orochi and saw the large wound on his arm. When he looked closer, his face paled in terror when he saw a small but red streak of blood on Orochi's forhead. Zeus chuckled.
As if to read his mind, Zeus said, "Zac, do not fear. He is well. I see you worrying about him, oh yes, I remember your care and kindness for friends." He paused for a while and studied Orochi. "Hmm... So this is Odin's owner. Interesting..." Zeus then turned to look at Zac. "This is nothing you cannot handle."
"Huh?" Zac asked. "What do you mean?"
Zeus didn't look surprised. "You ought to look up your own history. Listen, Zac. Lighting is not your only power. In fact, you have many other abilities yet to be discovered. You are the Sun. And the Sun can not only be burning hot, but also soft and warm. You, Zac, have the power to heal any physical injuries. But of course, you must do it in the morning. Your friend is not suffering from a serious injury, so you can wait to heal him when he wakes up later."
Zac nodded. Orochi and the others finding out his 'freskish' powers was the least of his problems right now. He only focused on healing his best friend. "How do I do it?" He asked. "Please tell me."
"Magic is never difficult to learn, but patience and focus is a must. Fate had shared my power to heal to you, so it is my duty to teach you how to use it. When you heal, focus on the person you are healing, and how much you want to heal him or her. Focus and clear your mind, that's the biggest tip. Then after a while, the injury should be completely healed. Then again, this healing process can only be done after the Sun rises and before the Sun sets," Zeus said. Zeus closed his eyes and sighed, and Zac's Bey started to spin slower and slower.
"...Zeus?" Zac asked.
The god smiled sadly. "I shouldn't be here for too long. I am not fully reincarnated until you have all your powers back. The balance between the mortal world and the spiritual realm will be at risk if a not fully reincarnated spirit stays on Earth for too long," Zeus said. "I wish you four good luck. Goodbye for now." With that, he began to fade away.
"W-Wait!" Zac screamed. "Zeus!" But his Beyblade had stopped spinning. The glow around Zillion Zeus had also disappeared. Zac's shoulders slumped. The silence between the four was heavy.
"Err..." Shu said awkwardly. "So what do we do?"
~~~
Carrying human boys the same age as them was not easy, especially when they were carring seven of them. Lui had suggested that they stay at the WBBA building for the night, but his suggestion was quickly turned down as, well, you know, finding eleven bladers in a room sleeping on the floor shouldn't be normal, should it? Zac couldn't risk to be caught sleeping on the floor by some janitor or someone. So at last, the Spin Emperors decided they stay at Zac's mansion so that they didn't have to worry about not having any shelter or space.
So while Lui literally dragged the sleeping Gou along the road, the others (except Xhaka) was panting heavily. Shu was still trying not to drop the kicking and rolling Valt from his arms while praying for his arms not to break from Valt's (terrifying) weight. Zac had half expected Akira to be a cudler, as the pink haired boy tightly wrapped his hands and legs around Zac's body like a baby koala, while Orochi just layed soundlessly on Zacs arms. Orochi was surprisingly light despite his tall frame. Xhaka was handling the whole situation best, even when Yugo, Quon and Ukyo were dangling off his arms like monkeys. They looked funny, completely ridiculous. The four of them looked like mothers carrying their overgrown babies.
"So pray tell, Zac, why do we still walk when you can call your personal limo?" Lui asked.
Zac put two fingers on his chin to mock-ponder, then said, "Hmm... I wonder why. Maybe because he's a normal human being, and he needs... you know, sleep?"
Lui made a 'tch' sound and groaned while pulling Gou's arm as he walked. "I know Gou is heavy but not this heavy," he said. "What?" He asked at the looks the others were giving him.
"Well actually, I'm carrying two people and Xhaka is carrying three," Zac snapped. "So stop being a bitch and shut the hell up." Zac looked at the ground.
"Ooh, someone's being moody."
Shu gritted his teeth. "Okay, the both of you, stop. This is not important. Zac just fought a maniac while our friends got 'cursed'. We have a lot more to worry about than arguing. And Lui..." Shu glared at him. "Yeah. Stop being a bitch."
Lui made his trademark 'tch' sound again but didn't say anything. The four continued walking along the road. Zac suddenly stopped in front of a large gate. "Guys, we're here," he said. ("Finally," Lui muttered.)
After going inside the mansion, the four decided to sleep in the biggest guest room where the others were also put. There were three beds, and three small coaches, just big enough for Zac, Lui and Shu to sleep on. Xhaka decided to sleep on the floor, as he couldn't fit into any of the beds and the beds were all preoccupied, and Xhaka was used to sleeping on floors in the dojo.
"There is a soft mat on the floor anyway, so I'll be fine," Xhaka said with a laugh.
And after less than five minutes, the Spin Emperors quickly drifted to sleep, joining their friends into the world of dreams. But little did they know, the fight was far, far from over.
